Shutterbugs and photography-lovin’ friends, welcome to The World Through My Lens, 01.2020. The photos below were taken during January and the first days of February for the 2 photography challenges I am participating in this year. One challenge is the Sunday Stills series hosted by Terri at Second Wind Leisure Perspectives. And the other is #belonglifestyle with my friend Dani and the gals at The Belong Life Style on Instagram and their blogs. You can visit last month’s The World Through My Lens post, here.
The World Through My Lens, 02.2020
My good Sony camera has been out of commission since I did an update to the software that accompanies it. I think I’ve found some information to help me fix the issue. And that is on my agenda for…tomorrow!! The best day to tackle a new project. Start a diet. Begin to exercise.
Therefore, these photos are brought to you through the lens of my Samsung phone.

Your Turn
Are you participating in any photo challenges this year? If not, come join us for Sunday Stills or #belonglifestyle. Taking photographs has encouraged me to take a second, sometimes even a third look at our world. There’s so much beauty but in the hustle and bustle of each day, it’s easy to let it go unnoticed. When I participate in a photo challenge, I go through my days with the current prompts in mind, looking for something old, or gray or winter white.
I challenge you to try a photo challenge, even for just a month, a week. See if doing so won’t have you looking at the little things in your world with a new, more appreciative eye.
Thank you for spending a few minutes of this shiny new week here with old, gray me!!
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy
What a lovely photos! Is that road the road to where you live? Have a good start of the week!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much!! That road connects the east and northeast sides of El Paso with the west side of the city. I take the mountain road to go to my daughter’s house to help with my grandbabies. It is a beautiful drive.
Deb
Are they the mountains that you mention when you talk about visiting your daughter? I often wondered what that road looked like!
Great photos, but how come El Paso has snow and we don’t? I thought the UK was supposed to be the colder of the two!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Deb, this is the road I travel when I am going across the mountain to help my daughter. It is called Transmountain Road and connects the west side of the city with east and northeast El Paso. It is a beautiful drive. We usually have one snowfall in El Paso every winter and usually after Christmas. How much snow do you guys usually get?
Joanne
Very pretty photos. I take part in an online challenge called 52 Frames where we are given an assignment each Monday and have to submit a photo by Sunday. I enjoy it even if I do find it a challenge to squeeze in photography time each week.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! I did 52 Frames for about half of last year and then my mom got very sick and I had to give it up. There were so many truly talented photographers among the participants. I was very much ‘out-classed.’ I don’t think you blog, do you? If not, come share some of your photography with me on my blog!! Could showcase your work at the end of the month.
Bojana
So many beautiful photographs. My favorite is the black and white bench and the cross shadow.

Thank you, dear Bo!! I am having fun snapping pics…especially on snow days.
Dara
The cactus in the snow is so cool. Your new granddaughter is so adorable!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I really liked playing with the camera capturing the snow on the cactus. Thank you.
And Cami is a little doll. So enjoyed snuggling every day last week.
Jennifer Smith
Such wonderful photos! I love this look back over the past month. Especially love your “cozy layers” photo – you look so cute…and, yes, cozy!:)
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! Jennifer, come do Sentence a Day with us. I think you would love it. Going to email you about it.
Terri Webster Schrandt
Wonderful interpretations of all the themes, Leslie! I love playing with filters, too! How amazing to see the hummer sitting on the ground! Thanks for sharing your shots!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Terri. I was worried about that little fellow. He was very slow moving on the ground. I went into the building for an appointment and when I came back out, he was gone. Hope he was safe.
Rebecca Jo Vincent
That cross picture… I LOVE the shadow!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, thank you. I saw the cross shadow and grabbed my phone!
Joanne Tracey
I love the idea of photo challenges but never seem to participate in them – which is why I love other people blogging about them lol.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! The challenges force me to take photos of something other than my outfit and my grandkids!!
Gale
My favorites are the cross picture and the snow-covered cactus. Great pictures!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I shared the wrong cross picture, I realized too late. So be on the look out for a second cross picture snuck into a post in the near future.
Laura Bambrick
These posts are always so fun for me to see! You really have an eye with photos!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! Photography has become a favorite hobby.
