Happy Thursday, friends!! Thank you for joining me for this month’s edition of Tell Us About 05.2025. Today, at the suggestion of my friend Rosie Amber at RosieAmber.com, we are writing about…Thursdays!! Until I read Rosie’s blurb for her post, I figured this was just a random choice of theme. But apparently Thursdays are big go-for-a-walk-adventures for Rosie. I look forward to seeing where she takes us in her post.
When I read Deb’s blurb for her proposed Thursdays post, I was reminded of the so-called fortune-telling nursery rhyme “Monday’s Child.” As a little girl, I was always so proud to have been born on a Sunday because based on the rhyme, children born on the Sabbath Day were clearly the best.
On what day were you born?

Tell Us About 05.2025
When I was working Thursdays always seemed like the light at the end of the tunnel. The Christmas Eve for the Christmas of the approaching weekend. My class loads tended to be a little lighter on Thursdays. And presenting the material was definitely easier because chances were I had taught that same information for the first 3 days of the week to other classes. On Fridays, I tried to limit the number of library classes to the occasional make up for some group that hadn’t come earlier in the week. That gave me some time to do all the other things that fell under my job description.
Nowadays, I like Mondays best of all. Actually, many of the days feel about the same. But there is something a little different about Monday. Starting a new week. The clean slate thing. Another chance to get things done and get things right!! But Thursdays are still pretty cool, too. By Thursday, I usually have most of my chores done around the house and can enjoy some me-time.
Thursdays
My daughters and I have a standing a joke about just trying to get through whatever is the current calamity plaguing us and then hopefully LIFE will settle down and get better. I used to think that by Thursday, things would surely look better. Especially since Mondays and Tuesdays were always pretty much a disaster. Thursdays always seemed to be full of hope – full of anticipation for a break over the coming weekend from all the insanity of the week.
But over the years I have come to understand that calamities are part of LIFE. I mean I always knew that but kept dreaming of the day when our lives would be calamity-free. When LIFE would slow down…when we would get beyond assorted issues with our children, our aging parents, and now our grandchildren. Those fun little unexpected surgeries followed closely by similarly unexpected early retirement x2. Get beyond the cancer diagnosis, broken heel. Endless issues around the house. Lawsuit over the construction of our pool. Not necessarily in that order.
PC sent this to me in February when I was feeling pretty discouraged about how slowly my heel was…well, healing.

Didn’t want to but I had to laugh. It seems like we rarely get to that coveted ‘Thursday’ when LIFE settles down, everything falls into place and we can catch our breath.
Shhhh.
Right now, however, for this moment in time, I think we have arrived at a Thursday.
Shhhh. Don’t let it get out that I said that. But we are just back from our glorious Alaskan cruise…more to come on that soon. Neither of us got sick (or broke anything) on the trip. And although we came home to one very sick kitty (unexpected expen$e), Purrsnickitty has now been to the vet is on the mend. I am almost afraid to type these words. But for today there are no calamities. No crises. LIFE is being kind. Which usually means that the other shoe is about to drop and things are about to get wild again.
Brennyn sent this to me today.
For the record we are enjoying this Thursday, this calm before the next storm comes roaring in.

I have the laundry done from our trip, most of the ironing caught up and I am looking forward to getting ahead on blog writing and reading in the next few days. Need to write a spring bucket list update and want to tell you all about our cruise. So hope you will stop back by in the near future.
And thank you for today’s visit!! I appreciate each visit and comment. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Hugs and kisses,

Agh! That’s a lot of tough stuff, but hopefully there is also plenty of things to be grateful for, especially on a Thursday? Glad you found things to write about for this one.
I have to admit, at first I was a little perplexed about Thursdays but it turned out to be one of my favorite themes. Thank you!! Sure enjoyed following along on your Thursday walk.
Hi Leslie – I hope life remains calamity free for the foreseeable future. I’m feeling the same way after weathering the big bathroom reno – it felt like I was living from one mini crisis to the next! Now life feels very calm again, and hopefully it’ll stay that way 🙂
Oh, I am so glad you are able to enjoy life now that your bathroom reno is behind you. What a tranquil space you have created. I think I would be in there all day!!
We had such a lovely weekend. I feel like I am in a dream!! Hope it continues for a bit longer.
Thank you for coming by, my sweet friend.
I just checked and I was born on a Friday, and so was my hubby! Which is kinda nice! lol
Lately, I quite like Mondays probably because I know the builders will be back to work on the house which means, the more work they get done, the sooner we can move in LOL!!
Hugs
Suzy xx
Love your reason for liking Mondays. Hope you are moved into that grand new home sooner rather than later. Mondays are the best. And I am looking forward to the start of a new week tomorrow. Thank you so much for coming by.
This was a lovely post Leslie and I love your feeling of being in a Thursday frame of mind (at the moment). I can’t wait to hear about your cruise and am so pleased that you enjoyed it.
I always enjoy these posts and yours is fabulous!
Oh, Debbie, I had the best Mother’s Day/Sunday complete with the Thursday feel. I am so enjoying this calm and hope it continues a little longer. Wasn’t this month’s prompt fun? When I first saw Thursdays, I was a little perplexed but my post fell into place and almost wrote itself. Thank you for the kind words.
I was actually born on a Thursday … so have a long way to go. LOL
I actually dont mind Thursdays because I WFH on Wed & Friday so it feels like a productive day getting up & coming in the office, but it also feels like my Friday since I WFH & get to sleep in & stay in jammies working all day.
Working in pjs totally rocks!! And HEY, so glad to hear from you, to see that you are back to blogging. I have missed your mug. You had such a rough go with your health and losing loved ones and then your precious pup. Hope the time away has given you time to breathe. But sure glad you are back.
What an interesting choice of a prompt and I enjoyed your response. I never thought to check but it turns out I as born on a Thursday which doesn’t change my difficulty thinking of what I would write for this prompt lol. I do agree that life can feel like a series of challenges, crises and/or calamities but also a series of things to be thankful for, celebrate and enjoy.
You are so right. Along with the calamaties are all the wonderful things about life. Like pretty patios, granddaughters, weddings!! Hope you will share a photo of you in your wedding dress, cardi, necklace and sandals when you get your whole ensemble put together!!
Hi Leslie, what a great take on the Thursday prompt. I’ve enjoyed everyone’s post and I think we all did really well. I looked up and I’m a Friday child although born at 10:30pm so just snuck in. I like Thursdays because I don’t usually have too much happening and it gives me a chance to breath. Have a great weekend. Sue L x
Thursdays are grand, aren’t they? I had no idea so many folks felt the same way. Really thought that this was kind of an off-the-wall prompt but it might have turned ut to be one of my faves. Thank you so much for the kind words.
Wednesdays are my busiest days of the week so I like Thursdays, but I think Mondays might be my favorite. The house is normally clean when I come home and I’m not tired from the week yet! Haha! What a great prompt!
Great reasons to love a good Monday!! I used to love coming home to a clean house. It always smells so good when someone else cleans!! Looking forward to starting a new week tomorrow. Hope yours is peaceful and productive.
I checked and I was born on a Tuesday. Thursdays were a favorite day of the week for many years because it was homeschool co-op day, which meant that I got to spend time doing something I enjoyed with people I liked. Plus it was almost the weekend!
For the past couple years I’ve been thinking that “once I get caught up on —— I’ll have more time for —–” but am realizing that I won’t ever be caught up and organized the way I dream about. Not until I retire anyway. I’m living the “after this week things will slow down” meme. LOL
Glad you enjoyed your cruise and everything is going well – hope that it continues that way for a good long time!
Isn’t that the truth?? I don’t know what I am doing with the hours in my days. I thought we would get the house all cleaned up and I would have so much time on my hands. NOPE.
Sure enjoyed your post and I am so glad you joined us. Really enjoyed reading about your homeschooling and co-oping days. I still miss coming up with lesson ideas and working with the kids. But this retirement gig is pretty sweet!!
Thank you for the visit.
I definitely agree with you about the Christmas Eve of the school week, but I still had kids to teach on Fridays. The feeling on Friday was usually more relaxed for everyone, though. We also ended the week with an educational video so we could do some planning together. One time, we had gotten a video (from a school resource catalog no less) about Tecumseh. Well, let me tell you, our students got an eyeful of how Tecumseh and his wife procreated! Oh, my gosh! My bestie had some papers in her hand and ran up to the tv (which she was about three feet below) and tried to shield what was going on while I tried to stop the doggone DVR player. We went in, at the end of the day, to let the principal know about it and to maybe expect calls. He just laughed and said (and I’m not even kidding), “I’m just loving sitting here seeing the three of you squirm!!!” After that, we knew he had our backs should any parents call. To my knowledge none ever did…but we learned then and there to always screen a movie. We always had, but since this came from a teaching resource, we figured it was safe. We.Were.Wrong!
I had to laugh (or else I’d cry) at so many of your memes. I am currently in the what could happen next era of life. This is certainly not what I thought retirement would look like. I know it’s even worse for Mike. And, though I know I’m not supposed to envy, I do envy couples our age meandering around the neighborhood, in stores, the mall, anywhere. That’s just not our life anymore and probably never will be again.
I’m so glad your cruise went so well. I can’t wait to read more about it!

I am so so so sad that Mike is still really struggling. Can he walk yet without the walker? Or only for short distances? HE IS TOO YOUNG!! Isn’t there something someone can do? I am so sorry. I am sure PC didn’t think his first 6 months of retirement would be spent helping me with my broken foot but thankfully, I am no longer dependent on him and haven’t been for months. But it sure did put a crimp in his first months of retirement.
What a great story about the Friday afternoon video showing of Tecumseh and the surprise lesson on the birds and the bees!! Thank goodness, it was a school resource you were showing. And your principal had your backs. When I first got Internet access in my library back in the early ’90s, I decided to show a class of first graders some butterflies emerging from their cocoons or chrysalis(es?). Typed in butterflies and BAM!!! Porn came up. I am pretty naive and have no idea how that word brought up porn but it did. I tried to block the screen from the kids but they were all sitting around me on the floor and got an eye full. I was so unfamiliar with using technology and so NERVOUS I couldn’t figure out how to “X” off the page so had to find the button to turn off the monitor. Have mercy!!
Hope maybe you guys can plan a cruise and just enjoy the get away and the food and the scenery. Working on the Part 2 post of my cruise right now.
