Good morning, good evening, good night, my friends. Thanks for joining me for Sentence a Day 07.2024 – a monthly review of my July in one obnoxiously long sentence a day.
As I have always said, I write these sentences for me. As a way of keeping track of what all has happened and when. I know this is really a lot of gibberish. A bunch of stuff I really don’t expect anyone to wade through!! But it helps me to reflect on each day, and record the important things so I can keep them straight, if not in my mind, on ‘paper’ at least. So, with that being said, please know you are free from any expectation that you need to read every word.
SENTENCE A DAY & OGT
Every month I try very hard to get my SaD post together, in order to make the What’s Been on Your Calendar? link-up with Deb at Deb’s World, Sue who blogs at Women Living Well After 50, Donna from Retirement Reflections and Jo who can be found at And Anyways, which opens on the last Friday of each month. But the last day of the month isn’t always the last Friday Sunday so I never seem the What’s Been on Your Calendar link-up!! I am always adding sentences through the last day of the month, whatever day that falls on.
Just a reminder: Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links which are usually italicized. If you click or make a purchase from an italicized link provided I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support.
And you can find where I link-up on this page.

And that’s the seventh month of the year, all wrapped up with a bow. Hello, August!!
1 Sec Each Day
Here is a quick video clip of much of what has happened since my last SaD post. July was a very good month. Lots of smiles.
2024 Word of the Year (WOTY)
My word of the year has lighten (up) has sat on my shoulder most of this month and kept me from having hissy fits some days. It is hard for someone who is an impatient and easily frustrated as I am to not stomp my feet and throw things some days!! But I am trying. In the last week, I have surprised myself by laughing when I might have normally been upset.
Take the day I put together my recent scrapbook pages. I used several ‘flip-flaps’ that allow me to layer photographs on top of each other. But had all manners of trouble putting the flip-flaps on right. Pulled them off and reapplied them at least 3 times while trying to keep 2 kitties from tap-dancing across my pages. And I was met with success, laughing out loud when I finally got the darn things in place the right way.
I am wearing my little white beaded bracelet everyday, too. Using it to remind me to take my troubles to God. Maybe not flip-flap issues but other more pressing things. And trying not to ruminate over worries for endless hours.
A Few OOTDs
Most days you’ll find me in some kind of active wear, if I am going to just be at home. We have upped our exercise game this month so I have been in shorts every day. But for volunteering, errands and church, here are a few of the outfits I have put together.
Nothing fancy all month except for maybe the Versona green and white print dress I wore to celebrate our anniversary. Favorite look…probably the black and white stripes with the white pants. Which do you like best?
Your Turn
How would you rate your summer so far? Ours has been pretty darn good. Thank goodness!! We are on our beach vacation as I send this to publish. Enjoying being with family on the beautiful South Padre Island.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend. What do you have on your calendar for August? I have a trip to TN-KY-OH the end of the month but hope to be home most of the rest of the time.
Thank you for popping by to spend a few minutes with me. Off to read blogs and to stop by to see YOU.
Hugs and kisses,
Deb
Your beach holiday with all the family sounds fantastic, I bet you are enjoying every moment! So many birthdays – I hope that professional photo you have been waiting for captures the magic of the holiday.
I don’t know how you cope with the heat that you get over there, I would not last very long out there at all.
We are following the US election over here and couldn’t believe the news that someone had tried to shoot DT. His ear seems to have healed remarkably quickly, he certainly had luck on his side that afternoon. It seems that every day there is some new story from over there – and there’s still a long time to go before you vote!
Marsha Banks
What a wonderfully full month you’ve had, Leslie! Happy, happy retirement to PC! And, happy, happy birthdays to all the beautiful women in your life! Was your rain due to the hurricane? We got lots of rain from it here in Central Indiana. We needed it, though, so I’m not complaining.
Our month was just OK. It’s hard waiting, as I’m sure you know. As I write this, Mike is five days (or maybe it’s four) post-surgery. It’s been a tough one. One of the pain meds has him very confused and asking when he’s going to therapy even though it’s Saturday! Hopefully, that will end soon. I hear you about sleep. I think I catnap most nights anyway.
I hope your family vacation is wonderful and can’t wait to see your family photos!

Oh, my goodness, I am so sorry Mike has had such a struggled. Hope by this week he is doing better and can begin to wean off the pain meds. The pain relief is a blessing but they so often bring about a host of other issues. Is he able to tell yet if the surgery was successful in helping with the original issues?
We had such a grand time on our vacation. And today is our first full day of PC’s retirement at home. He seems very anxious or frustrated. This is going to be a challenge. But we can do it!!
Joanne
That sounds like a really great month with a fabulous ending! Those times at the beach with your whole family sound so precious.
