Good morning, good evening, good night, my friends. Thanks for joining me for Sentence a Day 06.2025 – a long-winded review of my June coming to you in one poorly punctuated, run-on sentence a day. Another really good month that started with us on vacation and ended with us on staycation!! Life is good.
Want to thank Marsha at Marsha in the Middle and my BFF Sharon for alerting me that my blog posts were not going out in emails. I think I finally got it fixed tonight. If you receive my blog via email, fingers crossed that this post comes through. 🤞🏽
Before We Jump In
As I have always said, I write these sentences as a way of keeping track of what all has happened and when. It helps me to reflect on each day, and record the important things so I can keep them straight, if not in my mind, on ‘paper’ at least. Kind of like journaling. Do you journal?
Just a reminder: Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links which are usually italicized. If you click or make a purchase from an italicized link provided I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support.
And you can find where I link-up on this page.
Sentence a Day & Alphabet Soup
Every month I try very hard to get my SaD post together once the month is over, in order to make the What’s Been on Your Calendar?- WBOYC – link-up with Deb at Deb’s World, Sue who blogs at Women Living Well After 50, Donna from Retirement Reflections and Jo who can be found at And Anyways. The link-up opens on the last Friday of each month and is only open a few days. So I am not always successful in joining the gals.
Hope to link up this post with for Jennifer’s Thankful Thursday series over at Overflowing with Thankfulness, too. My OGT after each sentence is ‘one good thing’ – something I am especially thankful for.
Bienvendios, Junio
We are officially half-way through the year. How in the world can that be? Here’s what we did this month.
Gentle Start
- Welcome, June, thank you for bringing us summer!! We decided that after the emotional day yesterday, we would get up and be a little more leisurely in getting around; ate breakfast, packed a picnic and then headed out to Love Lake, a small lake with a long forgotten trail that finally disappears around its perimeter; every time we get in the car each of us guesses the number of deer we will see on that trip – it has been grand fun and we are over 50 deer sightings!!; the fellas tried to fish but the water was pretty rough and a storm came up so we headed back toward town; ate our picnic at home and watched KY in the College World Series, went back into Creede so the guys could get more lures and we could all get ice cream; the rest of the day and evening we watched TN baseball, puzzled, Valerie and Roby cooked a grand feast of steak, baked potatoes, veggies; the book club chose Where the Rivers Merge by Mary Aice Monrose for our June read; at 8:00 we convened on the porch for the last deer count of the day; played a card game called “99” before turning in a little later than usual; 7,753 steps. 06.01.2025 OGT: counting deer, laughing

Sibling Love
- After breakfast, we decided to head into Creede to try to hike the Up and Over Trail, a moderately challenging 3 mile walk from one end of Creede and up and over the moutain to the other end of town but it turned out to be more of a climb than some of us were able to manage; we took a shortcut down and then walked through the shops, stopping again at Wander Off Broadway boutique where my brother and LeeAnn bought me the darling top I fell in love with on our first trip downtown last Friday; then we all popped into Spare Keg for a beer – I had the peanut butter stout because you know how I love PB; a shower came up just as we were headed back to the car and we all got pretty wet, especially Kevin who ran ahead to bring the car to the rest of us; home for hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill then we played a game where we each picked a gift bag and had to wear the wig that was inside our bag for the entire night; played Pictionary and “99” then off to bed; another delightful day; 8,254 steps. I could get used to these good months, one after another, all in a row. Almost makes me scared to see what July might bring!! But I am going to believe that it will be the best month yet.
1 Second Each Day
Here’s a quick video review of June in pictures.
2025 Word of the Year (WOTY)
You may remember my word of the year is nurture. And I originally planned to try to nurture a little better those I love most. But somewhere early in the year, I realized that in order for me to love others better, I need to love myself better first. And I have been!! Here are some of the ways:
Late this past winter or maybe early spring, I begun working with my friend Christie at So What? Now What? for a 30-minute life counseling sessions every two weeks. This was been a great way to nurture myself. And I am proud to say I have ‘graduated.’ At least for now!!
With Christie’s help, I learned how to make time for myself in every day. How to prioritize what has to be done over what can wait til tomorrow. And how to ask loved ones for what I need as far as having a little time to myself. Which has been different now that PC is retired and home so much more of the time.
Some of the things I have done this month to nurture myself include:
- allowing myself to feel the sorted emotions around sprinkling my parents’ ashes in Colorado
- getting back to quiet time on the patio first thing in the morning
- enjoying little projects in the yard – that sunshine is good stuff
- easing into running again
- swimming
- scrapbooking
- writing
- preparing easy meals
I hope to write the third installment about our Alaskan cruise this week and then I want to share our trip to Colorado with you.
Your Turn
Overall, I would give our June an 8.5. It was even a bit better than April and May, and they were darn good.
Hope whatever you are up to this week, you find a little ME time (YOU time) to do the things you like doing best. Thank you for poppin’ round!!
Hugs and kisses,

That does sound like a wonderful month. Your vacation and white water rafting trip sounds like so much fun! I do think it was really bizarre that complete strangers knocked on your door and asked to go swimming… gosh I really hope that was some sort of social experiment on people’s reactions and not for real. How odd! I hope July continues to treat you just as well!
LOL love the idea that the girls knocking on the door asking to swim might have been a social experiment!! Might be the latest TikTok challenge. Had not thought of that. Curiously, the next day we got something in the mail from the city saying pool owners cannot rent their pools for other people to use. Hmmm. Hadn’t thought of that either. We are having a great July. Need to pop in to see you. Thank you for the visit.
June was a good month! The wigs for game night is such a fun idea! We just started watching Department Q and are enjoying it so far. You’ve got so many nice hikes in! Such a good idea to make a point of picking up trash – everyone needs to do that!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Thank you so much for this sweet comment. I pick up trash every day, everywhere I go. Drives PC a little crazy at times. But there is no sense walking by a soda can sitting in the middle of the road when I can just pick it up and throw it away. Too bad the dummy that drank the soda didn’t feel so inclined. June was a good month. And July has been pretty good, too. Getting spoiled.
Enjoyed reading about your month! It sounds like a really good one. I like all of the detail- I’m sure you will like reading about the all the specifics that you mentioned here. I know that I appreciate it when I go into a bit of detail about seemingly mundane days as well as the “big days.” I hope your Monday is going well!
Thank you, sweet friend. I think I go into detail ad nauseum but these posts really help me keep track of what we did when. I often go back over the posts to see when something happened. Or when we last went to McDonalds!! Thank you for stopping by and wading through all of my stuff!! XO
