Sentence a Day 04.2025

Sentence a Day, 04.2025

Good morning, good evening, good night, my friends.  Thanks for joining me for Sentence a Day 04.2025 – a long-winded review of my April coming to you in one run-on sentence a day.  Wouldn’t my former English teachers would be mortified with my liberal use of the semicolon and colon?

I am posting this from our cabin on the Holland America Westerdam on our first day of an Alaskan cruise.  I cut this month’s SaD post short so I can write a separate SaD post for our cruise adventures.  It will run from 04.27-05.04.2025.  The cruise and that post.  So that explains why I just abruptly stopped writing my April sentences days before the month was over.

Before We Jump In

As I have always said, I write these sentences for me.  As a way of keeping track of what all has happened and when.  I know this is really a lot of gibberish.  A bunch of stuff I really don’t expect anyone to wade through!!  But it helps me to reflect on each day, and record the important things so I can keep them straight, if not in my mind, on ‘paper’ at least.  Would never dream that anyone would read this bunch of hooey word for word!!

Just a reminder:  Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links which are usually italicized.  If you click or make a purchase from an italicized link provided I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you.  Thank you for your support.

And you can find where I link-up on this page.

Sentence a Day & LMNOP

Every month I try very hard to get my SaD post together once the month is over, in order to make the What’s Been on Your Calendar?- WBOYC – link-up with Deb at Deb’s World, Sue who blogs at Women Living Well After 50, Donna from Retirement Reflections and Jo who can be found at And Anyways. The link-up opens on the last Friday of each month and is only open a few days.  So I am not always successful in joining the gals.  Hope to link up this post with for Jennifer’s Thankful Thursday series over at Overflowing with Thankfulness, too.  My OGT after each sentence is ‘one good thing’ – something I am especially thankful for.  Also try to incorporate thoughts and experiences around my WOTY = word of the year into my SaD posts.  And when I have had occasion to get dressed for the day, I like to share a few OOTDs = outfits of the day.  That’s a lot of ABCs and LMNOPs.

Sentence a Day 04.2025

I don’t think I am ever really sad to say goodbye to a month.  To the contrary, I am usually hopeful and optimistic going into a new month.  We had some fun lined up for April so I was happy to welcome it in.

Going to call it a day with the post above.  Then will write a separate Sentence a Day post for the week of our Alaskan cruise.  Can’t wait to share my adventures with you.

1 Second Each Day

Here’s a quick video review of April in pictures.

Yeah, unable to upload that from the cruise ship so stay tuned.  Will probably just make May’s 1 Second Each Day a two-fer.

2025 Word of the Year (WOTY)

My word of the year is nurture.  And I originally planned to try to nurture a little better those I love most.  But somewhere early in the year, I realized that in order for me to love others better, I need to love myself better first.  And boy, howdy I have been!!

I have been working with my friend Christie at So What? Now What? for several months now with 30-minute life counseling sessions every two weeks.  This has been a great way to nurture myself.  During our first visits together, I have focused on finding more me-time each week.  I’ve come quite a ways from the gal who would look for things to do to keep from having fun!!  And a couple of times lately, I have had fun first before I got busy tackling my chores.  Like having dessert before dinner.

Over the coming sessions Christie is going to help me focus on recognizing the things I have been successful or good at in my life.  Before we get together again, I am supposed to create two lists:

  • My achievements and/or good decisions I’ve made and the skills or characteristics that helped me achieve them.
  • Things I perceive as failures or mistakes and what came out of those; for example, lessons learned or surprisingly good outcomes in the long run.

I have always struggled with low self-esteem so asked Christie to help me try to build up my confidence.  The one thing I can say I was pretty good at was being a librarian.  I worked very hard at my career and received recognition for that hard work.  Being a wife, mom, grandmother, housekeeper, cook, laundress, and responsible pet owner don’t come with much recognition.  And I have made a mess of trying to perform each of those duties.  Will spend some time on the cruise thinking about good decisions and mistakes I have made.

Your Turn

Overall, I would give our April a good solid 8.  Serving on jury duty was tough.  More to come on that.  But we had a number of good days and fun experiences to balance the week I served on the jury.

Hope whatever you are up to this coming week, you find a little ME time (YOU time) to do the things you like doing best.  Thank you for poppin’ round!!

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

What a month! I hope you are enjoying the cruise, although I’ve seen your IG posts showing how windy it is! I’m sure you will still have fun.
It sounds like you have spent a lot of time getting your house perfectly spring cleaned. I love coming home from holidays to a spotlessly clean house, so I always spend the days before we go tidying and cleaning every room!
I’m sure you are pleased that jury service is over and the correct verdict was agreed upon. Nine flights of stairs? Thank goodness your foot is better 😆

LOL, I didn’t even think about my foot climbing those 9 flights of stairs. Although, once I sat down, I remembered it!! All I could think was I was going to be late for jury duty.
We had the best time on the cruise. Just home tonight. And even though it was very windy and rainy 3 of the days, it was still a delight.
      Thank you for coming by!!

Gosh you have had such a busy and mentally taxing month! I really hope May slows down a bit for you!

April was busy but May might take the cake. Then looking forward to a slow, quiet summer at home. Glad to see your babies back at swimming again. My minnows started Saturday. How many weeks til summer vacay?

What a month! I bet you’re glad jury duty is over – the case sounded so stressful! I hope you are having a wonderful trip!

That jury duty was no bueno. I am finally no longer dreaming about it.

Thank you so much, doll. We had such a good time. Spoiled rotten with 7 days of no cooking or cleaning up!!
