Thrifty Friends, Today I am sharing my first Prime Purchases, 01.2020. You remember how I said I was going to get my blogging organized? That’s one of my winter goals? Yeah, well, this is a series I have followed on Tanya’s blog, The Other Side of the Road, and the blogs of many of my other blogging buddies. But I’ve never had the wherewithal and presence of mind to join them. UNTIL today!!
Just a reminder: Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link provided I may receive a very small commission. Thank you for your support.
Prime Purchases 01.2020
Speaking of organization. Another winter goal is to declutter and purge and declutter and organize. And declutter. I pledged that I would start in my craft room, which is really an open loft area at the top of the stairs. Not a room that I can shut the door on and forget. Haven’t started there, yet. But I am busy in the kitchen. Following along with Taylor for her 52 Weeks To An Organized Home and she has us starting in the kitchen. To be honest, I am a pretty darn organized gal already. If I do say so myself. Just ask me. And very good about putting things away. My trouble is that there are too many things, too much stuff.
Sink Caddy
Week one of the declutter challenge revolves around the kitchen counters and sink. I bought this sink caddy to help me wrangle my soap, sponge, dishwashing wand and sink stoppers into one place. Gets 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. I like that it has a place to hang my dish rag.
Utensil Drawer Organizer
Saw these first at IKEA this summer. Then in Lauren’s kitchen drawers. So much more organized looking than having the utensils thrown in the drawer, don’t you think? I do at least separate plastic utensils like spatulas and slotted spoons in one drawer and metal utensils like my food scale, tongs, grilling spatula in another. But this is going to look so much nicer still. I like that this Seville bamboo organizer is also expandable. Just might have bought all new spatulas and serving spoons and pancake turners in red to go in it! It earned 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
Let There Be Light Floor Lamp
Have I ever mentioned how dark our house is? If not, let me do that without further ado. Our house it like a cave. Winter and summer. I think partially because of the camel colored walls. We have lots of windows but you would never know from the lack of natural light in each room. Over the holidays, PC chased a Christmas tree light bulb out from under our couch and in the process, our table lamp fell and broke. He quickly got online and found this Brightech Sky LED Torchiere Super Bright Floor Lamp. Dimmable with a variety of finishes to choose from and a 4.6 out of 5 stars rating on Amazon. He ordered two. And have since ordered one for my mom.
Oh, my gosh! It is like the sun has finally come up in our den. So bright. But such a nice light. Not harsh at all. And the LED lighted plate is adjustable. We can have the light shining on the ceiling or adjust it in different directions.
Cowl Neck Sweater Dress
I have to tell you, the Get Your Pretty On winter capsule wardrobe had some pretty fabulous pieces in it. One of the suggested items was a sweater dress. As always, Alison gave participants a number of buying options all the way from higher-end stores to Walmart! And that’s where I found the dress I bought. This Time and Tru cowl neck sweater dress seemed like a good deal at $29.98. Had a 4.4 out of 5 stars rating at Walmart. So I snagged one in Gem Slate Fleck, a kind of deep blue-green. Wore it for the first time to church on Sunday. It was the featured look for Day 20 of the challenge. Paired it with Loft Outlet black tights and black boots and my Johnny faux leather moto (similar, similar) jacket. Added a black and silver belt to cinch it in at the waist.
Time and Tru Cowl Neck Sweater Dress
So comfy. Perfect weight. Good length. Pretty color. Machine washable. And hold onto your diapers, girls…because now it is $12.99!! As soon as I saw the dress was on sale, I ordered it in Purple Pearl Fleck. The colors are much prettier in person than on the website. This photo below shows the blue-green a little better. Also accentuates the baby-watch bags under my eyes.
Time and Tru Cowl Neck Sweater Dress
Picked up some darling kitten heel snakeskin booties on sale at Macy’s but apparently they are clean out of them or I would share them with you here. No need in teasing you with them if they aren’t available any longer, right?
So, that’s my very first Prime Purchases 01.2020 in the bag or the cart, so to speak. Hope to join up with Tanya and the gals again next month. Need to get it written into my planner so I don’t forget.
Your Turn
I know the month is early but have your made any Prim Purchases 01.2020 yet? If so, share in a comment below. And be sure to stop by Tanya’s to check out her finds and the great deals other bloggers link-up with us have scored.
Off to iron. Thank you for running by. Happy shopping!!
Hugs and kisses,
Jill
Our house is so dark and that lamp sounds like something we could use in every room! Love your sweater dress! Such a pretty color on you! Happy New Year Leslie!

Thank you! We are thinking of buying a third lamp for the bedroom. Our whole house is dark. Wonder how one of these would look in bathrooms??

That sink thing is handy! And the cowl is very nice, beautiful color! I haven t purchase anything yet, I believe, in 2020. I want to keep it that wat this month!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I haven’t bought much this month but went nuts in December so need to behave in January.

I think we may be the only people in the UK who don’t have Amazon Prime!
Love that dress, no wonder you ‘had’ to have it in the other colour when the price went down even more 😉
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Paul doesn’t have Prime for his account but I do. He just buys enough other stuff to qualify for free shipping when he wants something. That doesn’t make sense to me!!

Great purchases Leslie! That sweater dress is such a steal for $12.99! Holy cow, it looks much more expensive. A few years ago I organized my kitchen and it feels so good – it’s amazing what a few organizational pieces can do for your stress level!!!
xo,

Hope to have a quieter week next week and to get the kitchen finished up. Next on the list of kitchen areas is the pantry which is stuffed!! Need to get that under control.
Wasn’t that sweater dress a good find? Of course, I didn’t discover it. Thank goodness for Alison at Get Your Pretty on.
Dara
I was totally looking for a cowl neck sweater dress…$13?! I should order one, right??
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Absolutely order one of these. They run a little big but are so easy to wear. The blue is really a pretty turquoise or blue-green color. The purple is pretty, too. Actually I think I could easily give 2 thumbs up to all of them. Even over leggings. If you buy one, let me know which color you chose.

Thanks for sharing you finds! All I’ve ordered so far in 2020 are a replacement watch and the brand of very soft toothbrushes recommended to Hubby by the dental hygienist. Not very exciting or Pinterest worthy lol.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha!! We might need the link to those soft toothbrushes. Seems my family all prefers/required a very soft brush. I feel like I am brushing with mashed potatoes if I don’t have stiffer bristles.

oh love the dress! And that sink caddy looks super handy.

Really liked wearing the dress. It was ‘easy.’ Hoping the sink caddy will help keep my sink area look less congested and messy.

I actually “primed” my way through a lot of my Christmas purchases! One added Prime benefit is that you can often take advantage of Prime’s free shipping and returns with their retail partners. For example, I ordered a sweater for my daughter via Shopbop, but they give you the option to log in and pay via your Prime account. So…the sweater will be here in two days. Handy, dandy!
Love your sweater dresses! I have two from a prior year Gap Factory ($12 each) clearance or I would’ve followed you right down that Prime-flecked path!
You look fabulous, as always!
xoxo
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wow, I didn’t know anything about the retail partners of Amazon. How can I find out which retailers they are? That is fabulous!
Great buy on your sweater dresses from Gap. This Time and Tru line at Walmart is new, I think. Have seen a couple of things that are Time and Tru that I really liked. The sweater dresses were not available in store so I was a little leery about buying them without trying them on. But they received good reviews and seemed to be true to size. Decided they were worth a shot.
Thank you for your sweet comments.

Ohhhh, the first two items speak to my organizational-loving-heart!!!!! Love that caddy! You look so pretty in that dress, Leslie!

Good choices! I like the lamp. Sometimes my house is dark as I never open the windows nor the blinds. That was the first thing my grandmother did when she got up every morning, she’d go open all of the blinds in every room then go close them all at night before going to bed. I’m a big Prime shopper, it’s so convenient and fast. I need to start doing some posts like this.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yes, come share some of your favorite purchases!! My mom has trouble reaching to raise her blind in the one tiny window she has. I think it is so important to be able to look outside. Otherwise it feels like living in a cave. I wish her helpers in her complex would take the 30 seconds to open the blind in the am and close it in the pm. It would help her seasonal depression disorder, I think. I could look out the window all day!!
Didn’t remember to link up my story with you but got it written just under the wire. I am such a ding bat! Better luck next month.

It’s probably best to start on the story when the prompt comes out at least a week before the party starts or use the 2020 prompt list. Another advantage of having the story ready is you can be one of the first to link it to the party so others who link up will see it. I doubt many go back and see who linked up after they did.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks for the tips. I need to go back now and read all of the stories. I always do that but prefer not to be influenced before I write mine. Going to start on the new prompt now…at least write up some thoughts and brainstorm on it.

Love how the colors in that dress accentuate your gorgeous eyes!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much.

I love that dress, and it looks even better on you than it does on the website! Now I just needs $21 worth of stuff for free shipping LOL! I also broke a lamp recently, and I loved it because it had 2 heads, one that went straight up and one that bent over as a reading lamp. I’m trying to buy less stuff this month though, so I just moved another lamp I had in its place. Looks like you got a lot of useful things in January!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for visiting and leaving such a sweet comment. Keep this lamp in mind if you decide it’s time to purchase a new one. It makes a HUGE difference in our den. That sweater dress was probably the best buy I have made in a long time. And it didn’t break the bank.

Oh that sweater dress looks adorable on you! I’ve been looking for a great sweater dress for years, they are always so clingy on me!
