Good morning, sweet friends!
Well, April zipped right by. A lot like January, February and March. And here we are, ready to share our first 2019 spring bucket list update. To be honest, I hadn’t really looked at my list to see how I was doing until this morning. Printed my list and put it on the frig and promptly forgot about it. Was pleasantly surprised, though, to discover I haven’t done too badly. Allow me to show off!
2019 Spring Bucket List
So here’s the list of activities I hope to accomplish this season.
Let’s see where I stand.
My Progress, 04.2019
Think I will divide my activities into 3 categories. Begun and Ongoing, Completed and Pending. Should be easy to celebrate my progress and see where I need to get busy.
Begun and Ongoing
- Discover ways of finding peace. Begun and ongoing. Have enjoyed coloring, reading, working on my mosaic, and my Paint by Sticker book. I am being pretty faithful to my goal of walking each day, and I find that time spent outdoors to be very peaceful. The massage beds and light therapy booth at our Planet Fitness also bring me peace.
- Finish a section in my mosaic and finish scrapbooking Germany. Begun and ongoing. I did finish a section of my mosaic. And started another. Scrapped 2 more pages of our 2017 vacation to Germany yesterday while Skyping with my sister. Still have more to scrap. Remind me not to take so many pictures next time I go somewhere on vacation.
- Open my fashion haus. Begun and ongoing. Sure did enjoy putting together outfits based on the pieces in the Get Your Pretty On spring capsule wardrobe. And now the spring work wear capsule wardrobe is open. And, brand new for this year, Alison is hosting a Bust Out of the Rut make-up challenge. She will encourage us to get out of our makeup comfort zone, empower us with step-by-step tutorials, and give us printable shopping lists so we know exactly what to look for when we head to the store! Sounds intriguing. Click here to register. Not sure how springy this outfit looks, but it is one I wore to church recently. H&M tweed jacket, Express Portofino blouse, Loft Outlet cropped ankle pants, Apt. 9 black pumps from Kohl’s.
- Spring cleaning. Begun and ongoing. So far, I have cleaned out my closet and dresser, thoroughly cleaned our master bedroom and my loft. Hard to tell that my loft is clean…I know there are a lot of things on the shelves, in addition to books. But my loft serves as my craft room, my office, my library, my devotional space. So it is just a wee bit full of keepsakes and precious mementos. Next room scheduled for spring cleaning – our upstairs guest bedroom.
Completed
- Create a spring craft. Completed. My cactus and book page Easter egg projects. Follow these directions to make your own version of these eggs.
- Frolic in the poppies. Completed. Didn’t exactly frolic, though. I was more windblown about the poppies.
- Indulge in a spring mani or pedi. Completed. I think I have shared before that PC is not a big fan of bright nail polish – especially on the hands. Had originally opted for OPI’s Madame President on my toes and fingers but when I saw how deep a red it was, I chickened out. Instead, it was OPI’s Bubble Bath for my hands.
- Pay it forward. Completed in a small way but would like to do more. Worked in the garden at One Grub Community in exchange for my lunch. Also made a monetary donation to their ‘pay it forward’ jar.
- Try art in the park. Completed. Participated in a painting activity in March at our Tom Mays state park. Would like to do it again.
Pending
- Attend Easter church service. Pending. Will be doing this later on the same day that this post goes live.
- Go on a backwards date. Pending.
- Hike. Pending.
- Picnic with my PC. Pending. Hoping to bring our family picnic basket home with me from mom’s this visit and then we can get to picnicking.
- Run a 5K. Pending. Registered for the Braden Aboud 5K run on 05.05.2019.
- Take a class or course. Pending. Did consult the community college summer schedule for classes beginning in 06.2019. Might be able to start a painting, dance or ceramics class before spring gives way to summer.
- Update our outdoor space around the pool. Pending. Waiting to see what happens with PC’s job situation. Would hate to buy patio furniture only to have to cut it up and eat it if he doesn’t find a new job.
So, where do I stand? Five activities completed – although my pay it forward was a bit weak. In the begun and ongoing category, I have 4 projects underway. That leaves 7 items still pending on my list with 2 months left. Should come out okay, I think.
Your Turn
How are you progressing on your spring bucket list? Is there anything you have already completed that was a big hit or a lot of fun? If you are a blogger, please link up your spring bucket list update with us below.
Or leave a comment sharing one of your most enjoyable spring activities so far.
I leave for mom’s on Monday. Hoping to have some fun with her this trip. For right this minute, she seems to be holding her own, although one of her legs began swelling just as her hand has done recently. Planning to get her out of the apartment a little…for something more than doctor appointments, that is.
PC heads back to Washington on Monday and will be gone a couple of weeks and then his job here at Ft. Bliss will come to an end. Anxious to see what the future holds for us.
Happy Easter, my sweet friends.
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy
Have a great Easter Sunday Leslie!

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. We had a quiet, tasty Easter Sunday.

You have created a lovely and personal space in your loft for your many activities. The paint in the park activity looks like it was a lot of fun. Happy Easter!

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Thank you, Juhli. I really enjoy being in my loft. And so do my kitties…they are always right in the middle of whatever I am trying to do.

You are really moving on your Spring list!! Your bedroom is huge and nice, I love the craft, egg baskets, might have to mimic your idea🙄. Lastly, I belong to a Planet Fitness out my way and I really enjoy the hydrowater bed, very relaxing. Happy Easter and enjoy your day…

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Planet Fitness is such a bargain compared to the other gyms here in El Paso. My daughter in Ft. Worth, belonged to a tremendous gym there complete with running track and swimming pool!

Happy Belated Easter! I think you’re off to a good start. I didn’t have a very long list, so there’s not a lot I’ve crossed off yet, but I’m working on it! Hopefully May will be more productive. 🙂

These are some of my favorite posts of yours to read, Leslie! I live through you, because I feel these sort of lists were something I used to love to do and my life is just too busy now. Although, I do always ‘try’ to do a Summer Bucket List! 🙂 Wow, that watercolor you did is really good! I used to really be into watercolor painting when I was in college. I’d love to plan a special picnic for Brian sometime, with some special goodies! I was even thinking a picnic by myself under one of the trees by our art museum here would be fun, especially if I brought a book! I’ve seen a lot of women by themselves doing that in the past. It overlooks a beautiful grand basin with waterfalls.

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. I remember seeing some delicious picnic goodies in a post on your blog recently. Have you kids enjoyed a picnic yet? I am thinking Memorial Day weekend is going to be my big weekend for catching up on my bucket lists. Oh, a picnic by yourself sounds fun and the location near the art museum sounds like the perfect setting. If we don’t hurry and go soon, it will be too hot to go!!

I don’t do bucket lists but good luck with completing yours!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan

You are doing great Leslie! You really motivate me to try and put a bucket list together. Now can you please come over here and make me actually write it down? Ha! You look AMAZING in that outfit photo – tall and skinny! Wow!

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Hey, start jotting down ideas for your summer bucket list and then join us on 06.21 when we share our lists!! Love you for saying I look tall and skinny. Neither are true but I will take that compliment all day long. Thank you!
Daenel T.
I hope y’all had a happy Easter and that your mom’s swelling has gone down. It’s so hard to relax when you’re worried about them…
Your list is coming along nicely. I should do something like that but I’m way too lazy. LOL I need to fix up our master bedroom and finish the guest room. It’s funny how we started off so energetic and ready to go and then we just stopped. *sigh*
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Come on, come on and do a summer bucket list with us! Five items, 3! Would absolutely love for you to join us. We will share our summer lists on 06.21.

That guest room looks so comfortable and inviting – do you take International guests?!!!
You’re doing so well on your list, especially bearing in mind how much is going on in your life at the moment.
Hoping that PC has some positive news soon on the job front.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. We would have a grand time together if you came for a visit. Have you been to the U.S. before? Thank you for the good thoughts for PC’s job search. He applied for several jobs today but one is 90 miles away and the other about 40 miles away. Both would be quite the commute!
Gale
Hi, Leslie! You’re making great progress on your bucket list! I love your spring outfit! It looks very together. I’m jealous of your huge master bedroom! Ours isn’t big enough to put seating at the end of the bed like you have. And I really like those lights in your headboard. Had to chuckle a little at your two different nail colors…one for toes, and one for fingers. But that is so nice of you to consider PC’s preferences when choosing your colors. And I love your water color from art in the park. You’re really quite talented! Enjoyed your post!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. We do have a nice sized master bedroom and even the other bedrooms are pretty comfortably sized. Queen beds in both of them. King in ours.
Sometimes I get grumpy taking everyone’s feelings into consideration about MY hair or MY nails – they all have opinions!! But I guess going with subtle polish on my fingers in order to please PC is a small thing.
Thank you for the kind words about my little water color painting. Would like to hide away from the demands of every day and spend a good week reading, writing and painting.
Jill
I have a Planet Fitness membership but haven’t tried the massage beds yet. That needs to change asap! I love that you volunteered at the community garden and art in the park would be so much fun! Can’t wait to hear about your backwards date! I actually did a spring activity post earlier this week so just linked up with you!

Thank you for linking up your spring activity post with us. Come do a summer bucket list!! I am hoping Carrie will join us. It can be as small or involved as you like but they are a great way to line-up activities that keep you from doing the same ole same ole all summer long. We will share our lists on 06.21. Please let me know if you are interested.

Your master bedroom looks lovely, and I wish we had poppy fields in Wisconsin! Such a pretty flower.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. While you wish you had poppy fields in Wisconsin, I wish I could grow just half of the beautiful plants you have in your lovely outdoor space. Your yard is amazing!
Sylvia
Love poppies! I don’t have a spring bucket list, but I sure am happy Spring is here! Your egg craft is cute! Found you on the Member of the Day post at the Blogging Grandmothers group. Shared

I have struggled to find my posse or tribe in the blogging world. Started out with a group of younger gals but didn’t have a lot in common with them. Now looking for women of a certain age to blog with!! Will stop by to visit your blog. If you are interested in linking up for any of the series we do, please holler. We have a wellness series, comfort zone series and bucket list series. Will release our summer bucket lists on 06.21. Come join us!

You’re doing great with your bucket list! My favorite spring activity so far is planting flowers around my house.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Yay for planting flowers. I live in the desert southwest and flowers are kind of hard to grow so I am trying my hand at succulents. Sure did enjoy seeing the beautiful gardens and flowering trees in Kentucky. Thank you for coming by!

Hi Leslie, stopped in from Blogging Grandmother’s Facebook group. You’re a busy lady and I think did really well accomplishing some of the Spring Bucket List items! I don’t have a literal list myself but always am working on ways to improve my healthy lifestyle. Enjoyed reading your post and checking out your site!

Leslie,
You are doing great on your bucket list, especially after not looking at it. Isn’t that how it goes sometimes though?! I hope your mom is starting to improve and she gets home soon. Thinking of you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Have missed blogging and reading blogs. Nice to have left mom in a good place – mentally and physically – and to be able to relax a little for now.
Need to get my bucket list out again! Have not thought of it in weeks. I have a feeling our Memorial Day weekend will be full of spring bucket list activities.
Chrissy
ok, i chuckled at your frolicking in the poppies. It’s something I would do! And I love having my nails done though no matter what I do/get they chip. I’m using color street nails right now and that has suited me for the price I pay. lol. As for my own spring fun…I ate lunch on the beach, ate outside with the boys and went on a bike ride. I need to make a list next time!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Just now seeing my comments and responding to them. LUNCH ON THE BEACH?? Oh, yeah, baby, all day long. Sign me up. Sign me up for anything on the beach. I just love the beach.
Come make a summer bucket list with us. You will be surprised at how it holds you accountable for accomplishing some things and trying some new activities. If you are interested, please let me know. I am begging Kellyann to join me, too!! We will share our lists on 06.21. And they can be as simple or as involved as you like. Say YES!!

We’ve been doing plenty of decluttering, organizing and spring cleaning. I would love to see posts and/or videos of spring & home cleaning and any tips you can give.

Have been MIA for while in Kentucky caring for my mom with little Internet connectivity. Trying to catch up now on reading comments and blog posts. Just seeing your comment on my blog asking about spring cleaning. Have never thought of making a video but have plenty of tips. Spring cleaning is my favorite hobby. And how sad is that??? Maybe we could do a link-up together about spring cleaning? Please let me know if you would be interested.
