Happy Fri-YAY, Babes!
No better way to celebrate Friday and the first day of summer than to share my 2019 Summer Bucket List. So excited to be doing this series with some of my bestest blogging buddies. And icing on the cake…YOU are here, and I’m not just talking to myself. Life is good, life is good!
Before we get to the new list, let’s take one final look how I made out for spring.
2019 Spring Bucket List: Final Update
Here’s a reminder of my spring bucket list. Shared my last update, here, in May.
Since May, I have completed a few last activities.
- Discover ways of finding peace. ✔️ This is becoming a daily habit.
- Finish a section in my mosaic and finish scrapbooking Germany. ✔️ Not completely finished with scrapbooking that trip but have scrapped all of the pictures I have printed out.
- Open my fashion haus. ✔️ Several SIA Style Imitating Art and GYPO Get Your Pretty On posts this spring.
- Spring cleaning. ✔️ Finished the upstairs and have begun downstairs with the kitchen first up.
- Create a spring craft. ✔️ Completed 2 projects. My Easter eggs and most recently, my succulent garden centerpiece.
- Frolic in the poppies. ✔️
- Indulge in a spring mani or pedi. ✔️ One mani and 2 pedis.
- Pay it forward. ✔️
- Try art in the park. ✔️
- Attend Easter church service. ✔️
- Run a 5K. ✔️
- Go on a backwards date. ❌ NO! Every weekend I would start to make some plans and something would interfere. This was bumped from winter to spring and now spring to summer. It will be done this summer.
- Hike. ✔️
- Picnic with my PC. ✔️ On the hike! Also on our first day of Weight Watchers. Lunch meat sandwiches, fruit, goldfish crackers.
- Take a class or course. ❌ But taking one on Saturday!! Portrait photography. From 10:00-3:00. Just a day late!
- Update our outdoor space around the pool. ❌ Thought better of doing this considering PC’s potential unemployment status. I did add this to my 2019 summer bucket list.
I wound up completing 13 out of 16 activities. Might be one of my best season’s yet! Moving into summer with high hopes. Speaking of which, let’s have a look at my 2019 summer bucket list.
DRUM ROLL…
2019 Summer Bucket List
Can you read that teensy print? Yeah, me neither. So let me break down the list for both of us.
Arts and Crafts
- Paint rocks to give away or take a painting class. Painted rocks once before then put them about and folks actually picked them up. Kind of fun so might repeat that or do an I Painted That! class with my Prince Charming.
- Take a pottery class through Falcon Pottery & Art Studio. Haven’t created pottery since college. Many moons ago.
Date Night
- Attend an outdoor music event. El Paso has a number of great outdoor music venues. Music Under the Stars, Cool Canyon Nights.
- Watch fireworks. Fourth of July, salute!
- Go on a nature scavenger hunt. Saw this idea on Pinterest. Will probably create my own list or have PC help me, then we could make the hunt part of another mountain hike.
- Finally plan that blessed backward date. Say a prayer that this finally gets off the ground. And off the list.
- Play Pictionary. I love this game. Want to play somewhere, somehow with someone.
Family Fun
- Snap a photo of all us girls. We will all 5 be together in July for birthdays. Even if this is a blurry selfie, it’s going to happen.
- Water fun in Ft. Worth. More birthday fun. Cady’s 9th on 07.28, Brennyn’s 35th on 07.30 and Lauren’s 33rd on 07.31.
Fitness
- Check out routes for bike ride & run for the Mighty Mujer Triathlon. Toying with the idea of trying to participate in this triathlon. What am I thinking?
- Swim at night or skinny dip. Our pool, of course.
Food for the Soul
- Take donations to the animal shelter. Would love to start visiting, walking pups, playing with kitties. But can’t bear the idea of the animals being put down. Our shelter is working toward becoming ‘no kill’ but isn’t there yet.
- Make food donations at church or pay it forward. Our church accepts donations every week so this should be an easy ✔️.
Outside My Comfort Zone
- Get a custom temporary tattoo. Who am I? A triathlon and a temporary tattoo? What’s in that Koolaid, anyway? Just think it could have great shock value if I get a temporary tattoo before I go to Ft. Worth. My girls will die!
- Shop a new store. Grocery, clothing, shoe, online, brick and mortar, Etsy storefront. Something different.
- Investigate going natural. Friends, what do you think about this? I really hate spending the money on professional hair color. My at home color turns dry and brassy. And I still have grays. Really like my natural color (dark, ashy brown with a little copper) better. Not sure how much gray it would be peppered with but thinking we are going to find out.
Being Betty Crocker
- Bake a cobbler – hopefully peach. Our peaches were bountiful last summer, but we have nary a one this year. Yet.
- Try a new recipe for the grill. Something Weight Watcher friendly.
Probably should have prefaced this whole list with *only if we are employed. These last 2 *activities are definitely just wishful thinking. We certainly don’t need to update the kitchen colors and decor or freshen up the patio furniture and backyard if neither of us are working. For that matter, I won’t be shopping a new store and may not be able to go to Ft. Worth.
And Susie Homemaker
- *Begin changing kitchen theme.
- *Begin freshening up the patio furniture and backyard.
Ambitious list. But I am flying high on my success this spring.

Then mark your calendar, planner and agenda to come back and update your progress with us on 07.21.2019 and 08.21.2019. And please, stop by to say hi to some of the other gals linking up with me today.
Not sure about this whole bucket list business? In last summer’s list, here, there’s a little video explaining why I love doing bucket lists. And bonus…did you know that making bucket lists is a healthy practice? Take a sec to watch my video and find out why! Then grab pencil and paper and get busy making your own 2019 summer bucket list.
Thank you, dolls, visiting today. Have a blessed weekend and get started on those 2019 summer bucket list activities!
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy
I don t have bucket lists, but….a picknick in the early evening in the national Park is what I wanted to do last year and it didn t happen! So I am hoping it will this year! Happy weekend Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You need to make sure that picnic in the park happens this year. Write it down somewhere. Put it on your blog and hold yourself to it!!
Deb
A tattoo? You rebel! Yes your girls will be surprised, don’t tell them it’s a temporary one 😉
Isn’t it hard to know when to let your hair colour go natural? I’m doing it gradually – every time I have it coloured I have a few more light highlights put in and less all over colour and I think it’s gradually going to something like Mother Nature wants it to be.
You did so well with your Spring list, I have high hopes for your summer success too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I pierced my belly button on my 40th birthday for shock value. My girls were mortified. Ha! And my PC with his strict Baptist upbringing isn’t sure what to think either. Ooops! Yes, I would not tell the girls that it was temporary. At least not at firtst.
I like the idea you have about going back to your natural color. My highlights get so blonde. I am thinking of trying a glaze that would be semi-permanent and would cover the gray but would tone down the highlights. I look pretty skunky right now!
Kellyann Rohr
I think the temporary tattoo will be a lot of fun! I got one on a cruise years ago and regretted it the minute I did it, thank goodness it was a temporary! Ha! Love your list – you always inspire!
xo,
Kellyann
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sugar foot. What was your temporary tattoo? I want 398.2 for mine, the Dewey classification number for fairy tales. And maybe a wand? Or slipper? Or crown!!!
I had henna done once and freaked my girls right out. Told them it was permanent.
I want to go on a cruise. I think, if we aren’t standing in soup lines this fall, PC and I need to go on one. We are working on our bikini/Speedo figures. Why not flaunt it! Thank you for joining me for this series. I am so excited to have you and Jill playing along this time. Heading over now to check out your list.
Dee | Grammy's Grid
Looks like your spring bucket list went well, huh? You have lots planned for summer! And yes, the shock value from your girls will be awesome if you get a tattoo, especially since they won’t know it’s a temp, funny! Ok, so I don’t do bucket lists but on my way over to watch your vid 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Dee, please come do a little teensy bucket list with us. The link up is open for 15 days. Just a little baby one. Yours would be such fun!
Dee | Grammy's Grid
Ok, you’ve convinced me! Check your email 🙂
Dee | Grammy's Grid
Ok, just now joining in with my very first bucket list, thanks for urging me!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you are joining for the bucket list posts this season!!
Dara
I still can’t wait to see what a backward date is! A triathlon, wow! I want to take a photography class too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Dara, you could GIVE a photography class. I am taking this one just because I want to have someone help me hands-on with using my camera more comfortably. Being old and all, I have trouble learning online. Hope after this portrait class, I can find one for landscapes.
The triathlon is just in the talking phase right now. We’ll see!!
Juhli
What a fun summer you will have and quite ambitious too. Lots of great ideas.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. Eating my Wheaties and taking my vitamins to accomplish everything. Hope we can have a drama-free season.
Christie Hawkes
This is an ambitious list, Leslie, but then you are an ambitious lady. I’m intrigued by the triathlon item. I admire triathletes, but I don’t particularly enjoying bike riding, so that’s a problem. 🙂 Thank you for putting this link-up together. It helps keep me on track–and it’s fun! Happy summer!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you joined in again for the summer bucket list series. Have you recuperated from Mazatlan? Is Hawkes Landing open? Can’t wait to read about the progress the you make on your list.
Gale Johnston
Hi, Leslie! Wow! You did so well with your spring bucket list. Congratulations!
Here are my thoughts on your summer list. First of all, I love pretty much everything under Date Night. I should have put an outdoor music event on my list…what a wonderful idea! And how did I forget about fireworks? I don’t even know what a Backwards Date is, but it sounds like fun. And then you’re going to do water fun in Ft. Worth? Do you know I live just south of Ft. Worth in Burleson. We have many favorite restaurants and shops we love to visit in Ft. Worth plus the Trinity Trail for biking. And you’re considering a triathlon…wow! I’ve often thought about doing one. My biggest fear would be the swimming. I’d be okay with the running and biking. I, too, have thought of volunteering at an animal shelter. Just haven’t moved myself to do it yet. Donating would be a great thing to do in the meantime. And I have to say, a TEMPORARY tattoo is the only way I would EVER get a tattoo. Can’t wait to see what you end up with! And on the going natural thing…I tried it. Hated it! Went back to getting mine colored. Funny story…one time while I was still teaching (third grade) I wasn’t really coloring my hair yet, and on some kind of activity, I had my students make pictures of me. They used their pencil to do my hair color. THEIR PENCIL! I asked them if they really thought my hair was that color, and they all were in agreement that yes it was. That’s when I started coloring my hair. Wishing you all the luck on your summer bucket list!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, Gale, I am so interested in your experience going gray. I am so torn about it. But really dislike how brassy-blonde my hair gets with color, especially now that I am outdoors much more. I can’t imagine your students using a pencil to color your hair!! Then again, that was a clever idea, my roots right now could surely be penciled in!!
I am pretty much anti-tattoo, at least for myself, but thought it would be fun to surprise my daughters (who are both tattoo-less as far as I know!) with a temporary tattoo. We’ll see if that happens. I thought maybe the name of my blog or the call number of fairy tales in the Dewey Decimal classification system. Or a magic wand.
I have walked/run the Trinity Trail for a 5K with my daughter. Ft. Worth is really a nice town. Lots to see and do. Brennyn lives in the Crowley ISD, in southwest Ft. Worth near the new toll road. Her home was built last year as is the best combination of being near ‘town’ but still feeling like she’s in the country.
As far the triathlon goes, I would certainly have no ambition to place, just to finish!! Looking into an easier tirathlon in the early fall. Might be able to do it as the run and bike routes are flat.
Thanks for coming by!
Jill
This is such a great bucket list! I love the idea of painting rocks and leaving them around for people to find! I did a mini Trialthian once it was a lot of fun! You should definitely do it! A peach cobbler sounds really good right now!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I painted rocks and then just left them sitting on my desk for months. Finally gathered them up and set them out around the grounds at our gym. We worked out and when we came back out to walk to the car, they were all gone. Made me feel good. Will do it again and maybe leave my ‘art’ in the rock gardens around church this time.
Oh, wish this triathlon was a mini one. Or maybe it is? Mile swim, 5k run and 9 mile bike ride. Is that mini? I am most worried about the swim. I can swim and swim some distance but it isn’t pretty!!
Think I will mix up a cobbler on Sunday. Still no peaches on our tree, though.
Thank you for doing the summer bucket list with me!!
Kath Ott
You will love this group of Facebook. It is a place to go grey and have people 100% behind you and helping you.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/goingray.lovinit/?ref=bookmarks If that doesn’t take you straight to the group it is ( Going Grey & Lovin’ It ) If you join lookk me up I’m Kath Ott
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wow, thankful you found me and shared the link to the Facebook group. I have no idea about how to go gray. Had heard that rinses or glazes made it easier. Semi-permanent. Would like to know more!
Amber
Great list! I’m behind on getting mine together. I can’t believe it’s already time for the summer list!
There’s a website that does custom temporary tattoos, but I can’t remember what it is at the moment. Should’ve looked it up before bringing it up here! 😉
I can taste the peach cobbler. I’ve been sugar, dairy, and grain free since May 1, so I’m really wanting some dessert right now!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Look at you giving up sugar, dairy and grain!! Wow, I wouldn’t know what to eat. We are doing Weight Watchers and having trouble finding things to eat over here. Actually, it really hasn’t been bad at all but some days, there’s just nothing like ice cream or a cold beer. Or both.
The bucket list series is still open to link-up, if you have a list put together. It doesn’t have to be real elaborate!! Come join us.
ShootingStarsMag
I FINALLY have mine posted! I didn’t do so hot on Spring, so I moved some things over and then created new goals for the Summer months. Oh well, it’s a new season, and I’m ready to tackle these!!
Good luck with all of your goals this summer! Love the idea of a temporary tattoo I got henna done before and that was really fun.
-Lauren
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Glad you set spring aside and are looking forward to working on your summer bucket list. I was amazed at how well I did on my spring list since I was constantly out of town. Need to print my summer list and get it on the frig to remind me of all of my plans! Thanks for joining me!
Liz Klebba
I wish I had put fireworks on my list! I love going to the fireworks, but we have skipped them the past few years. It’s been so muggy and buggy, that staying home seemed like a better choice. I think we’ll try to correct that this year. Thank you for the inspo!
PS: You know what I’ll say about trying the grey… Go for it! You never know how it will turn out, and it’s easy to go back to color if you decide it’s not for you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are so right about going gray. I can always go back to coloring. My hair just gets so blondish with highlights. Before I know it, I don’t have highlights, I am a tow head all over! And it is so expensive to keep up with. Especially with our precarious employment situation for now.
We are going to a Triple A ballgame with fireworks after. But it will be on the 3rd. Which isn’t quite the same. But the fireworks will be spectacular. Hope you find some to enjoy.
Liz Klebba
But I still want to know what a “backwards date” is!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I promise I will plan our backwards date soon and share!!
