Sweet friends, how was your day? Did it feel like a Monday in every sense of the word or did you jump into this week with both feet? I have to admit, I was dragging today. I think my body is ready for summer vacation even if my heart and mind aren’t quite ready to let go of this experience yet. It has been so good to be at Guerrero Elementary School and I am going to miss everyone there and the work I have so enjoyed doing. Hope your Monday was a good one and your Tuesday is even better.
So, linking-up with Shaunacey for “Monday Moments of Gratitude”. Please be sure to stop by her blog SimplyShaunacey.com for a fabulous read. I refer to my moments of gratitude as my little miracles because they often feel that way to me. Unplanned (by me), unexpected blessings. And here are my little miracles for this post.
Let’s start with getting fit. That isn’t really a miracle. Well, not exactly. But PC and I are really embracing this 21 Day Fix program and are kind of psyched up about becoming healthier and stronger and more fit. We are doing this! Eating better…eating out less, exercising more, making wiser choices. Today is the start of a new three week round and although we were both really tired when we got home from work, we did our full body cardio work out, and took our measurements. And then we ate a healthy turkey lasagna made with brown rice pasta.
Another little miracle would be if my lasagna would hold together and cut into neat squares instead of looking more like spaghetti!
As a kind of side-note or blessing to getting fit, we are having our bicycles overhauled. Well, my bike is getting a face lift and PC’s bike is getting a face-lift but he is also getting a brand new bike. We haven’t ridden our bikes in some time, with the surgeries we both have had in the past two years or so. But before that, my honey was riding a small size bicycle when he should have been riding a medium large. No wonder bike riding wasn’t especially fun for him!
My bike is the purple one above. All three of our bikes are in the center pic and PC’s new ‘ride’ is on the far right. I am grateful that we are healthy and in shape enough to ride bikes and working at becoming even healthier and more fit. Our bikes will be ready on Wednesday. Yay!
I am grateful that I have a whole summer spread out before me with so many things I want to do and the free time to do them in. Ok, poor grammar…in which to do them. So. Blessed. I finally sat down long enough on Sunday to write down my goals for June on the little blackboard/goalboard I created a few weeks ago. I wrote about decorating my board in a post, here.
I am going to be a happily busy girl! Stay tuned to see just how I progress toward realizing these goals.
Thankful that we finally got some rain. While all of east Texas is literally drowning in rain, we in west Texas are experiencing a drought. I feel so badly for those effected by all of the flooding. Every time I talk to my sister Valerie or daughter Lauren in Houston, it is raining. And it has been about as bad in Ft. Worth when I have talked with Brennyn. In fact, poor baby got home from work the other night to discover a large wet spot in the ceiling of her den and when she went upstairs to the attic, the roof was leaking like a sieve. I suggested Brennyn take Cady’s old baby bath tub up to the attic to try to catch the water, and she thought of grabbing some old (empty and unused) litter boxes to put in other leaky spots.
The next day, Bren had to work but was able to get a roofer to run by the house (in the rain) and throw a tarp over her roof until it stops raining and she can get the roof repaired. I am thankful someone was able to come to my baby girl’s rescue. The pictures of the storm clouds are from our shower the other day.
And finally, the bestest blessing and little miracle lately…baby Lucia was examined by the surgeon for her torticollis at physical therapy late last week and he determined that her “torties” is almost completely better. Prayers answered. Thank You, God. Lucia was positively head over heels with excitement at the possibility that she won’t need surgery on her baby neck.
Yay, baby girl!! And in just a few weeks, this little doll and her mommy and daddy and kitty will be moving less than four hours away from me. Cannot wait.
As you can see, I am so blessed. My life is so good and my heart is so full.
Time for our question of the post, ready? Question: What is one of your goals for June? Do we have any goals in common? Please share in a comment below.
Hope you have a breezy week. I have several blog posts planned (in my head!) for the week. Now to get them down on “paper”. Be sure to stop by The Blended Blog for a recap of the first week of “Create28”. I haven’t been dressing up much for work (school tee and jeans) because I am cleaning up for the end of the year. So I haven’t tried any of the prompt outfits. Have you? Here is a reminder of the looks through next Wednesday, June 15.
Hope you will try one of the outfit prompts, I promise I will, too. And snap a pic to share on our TBB link-up on Wednesdays, use the hashtag #theblendedblogstyle. Would love for you to share a pic with me of any outfit you try and I will feature it on the blog.
Let’s call it a day, what do you say? But please come back again, soon?
Sweet dreams, sweet friends.
Hugs and kisses,
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Glad the baby girl is doing so well! I love your June goals… I am going to try to work out 5x a week, too! I need to do 4 runs a week and 1 cross training day for marathon training. Whew. I need to start eating better and more healthier carbs, too and I haven’t started yet. Shame on me! I have been wanting to get a bike lately, enjoy!!!

I love my June goals, too! Just need to make sure they happen!!! I would love to be able to run even a half marathon but at this point I am still looking forward to another 5K. We took our first bike ride today and I loved it. Like painless exercise and easier on the joints.
Deena
Yay for little Lucia!!! I love how active you are, totally makes me want to get moving more.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Deena. I like being active and feel better when I am. Hope I begin to see more payoff in the mirror.

Look at you fit lady!!!!! AMAZING!!!
thanks for linking up, I love reading these posts and how positive you are, it makes my day 🙂

Isn’t that baby Lucia a cutie, if I do say so myself? We are trying hard to get fit over here. Baby steps cause I like my glass of wine and occasional ice cream. But we are doing more than we have in a long time. Thank you for creating your Monday Moments of Gratitude. They open my eyes to goodness everyday.

OH goodness that little smile melts my heart. So funny you mention the 21 day fix, while I’m not doing it, I was doing a lot of research on it yesterday, as far as portion size goes. I can’t wait to see your results! I need to eat healthier and have better portion control…I got this!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I think portion control is a lot of the battle for me. I am trying to feel satisfied with one serving…no seconds. Ugh.
Jill
Glad to hear Lucia doesn’t need surgery! She is just darling in those pics! I haven’t scrapbooked in years. I keep saying I need to start up again!

Jump in here and start scrapbooking again. I love it. Just do it now and then, maybe for special occasions like the holidays? I am soooo far behind on all of the events I want to scrap but I need to concentrate on what I am scrapping and not what I haven’t gotten to you. Let me know if you start!
Valerie
Most of my goals are the same as yours, however, I want to read three Bluebonnet books instead of an adult book. I am not a blogger which is why updating my school website is so brutally difficult for me, so I would substitute that goal. I, also, want to experiment with some of the great coding and other educational websites including some online workshops. I may be in trouble with these lofty goals. It all came into perspective when the organic milk I bought yesterday expires the week of back to school inservice. It will be here soon!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I would love to experiment with the coding and maker space stuff with you this summer. We should write a lesson for Google cardboard! And I want to read at least half of the Bluebonnets, too. While school will start again before we know it, we really need to make the most of this summer. Lesson plans, scrapbooking, reading, exercising.
Valerie
Yes I have milk in my fridge that expires after school starts. It will be here before we know it.
