HaPpY hUmP dAy,
I remember first seeing these Little Letters posts on my friend Katie’s blog, The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life. If you don’t know Katie, run by and introduce yourself. She is funny and sweet. Her letters are often one clever sentence that drives her point home. Oh, to be so effectively concise!
As a tribute to Katie and in the interest of getting to bed on time tonight, here are my briefest little letters post yet…Little Letters, 09.2018.

Gratitude
Dear Fall Decorations,
You make my heart sing! What fun I had putting you out yesterday. Not only are you pumpkins, gourds, acorns and turning leaves, but you are Halloween witches on broomsticks, black cats and, as my granddaughter Lucia says, ‘pooky ghosts. Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls, Katrina skeletons and altars to loved ones. Welcome autumn, so glad you are here.
Dear Get Your Pretty On Fall 2018 Capsule Wardrobe Shopping List,
You, too, make my heart sing!! Was so excited to take a look at the shopping list and realize that I have many of the pieces hanging in my closet already. Which is one of the great things about these style challenges, they build on each other. Once you have the basic pieces, each challenge just allows you to compliment those pieces with trending items and accessories. My camel blazer is on it’s way. Can’t wait to see the outfits we create around it.

Dear Daniel at Walmart Lube and Tire Center on Woodrow Bean Road,
Guess what you did? Oh, yeah, baby. You made my heart sing when you said that it would only be $10.00 to fix my flat tire. I am pretty sure I picked up that nasty bolt thanks to all of the interstate construction around El Paso. Thankful that I was able to change my flat tire. Frustrated when I discovered my spare was flat. But grateful that I was able to pump up my spare enough to get to Walmart. Was prepared to have to buy new tires but thrilled to learn my tire could be repaired. Thank you, Daniel, for not taking advantage of a woman and for being honest about the repairs.
Dear El Paso Museum of Art,
Guess what? Yup, guessed. Your mask painting event on Sunday made my heart…SING! What a fabulous turn out. Loved seeing El Pasoans of all ages and walks of life sitting side by side painting Dia de los Muertos masks together. Thank you for providing the community with a well organized, free event that inspired creativity in all of its participants.
Dear To-Do List,
Writing my daily to-do list makes me feel…hmm, how should I put it? I know. It makes my heart sing! And checking things off my list makes my heart sing LOUDER. I feel so much better organized, large and in charge, if you will. I take my daily list with me everywhere in case I have an opportunity to accomplish something and mark it off the day’s list.

Dear TruGreen Mosquito Treatment,
You make my heart hurt. And my feet and legs, my arms and my hands itch because you aren’t getting rid of these pesky mosquitoes. We have never ever had mosquitoes in the past, and now that we are having the yard treated, we are being eaten alive. So do we quit spraying in hopes the pests go away or do we keep spraying with the thought that we will really be inundated if we stop? Whatever the case, at close to $100.00 a treatment, should we be getting attacked like this? That same money would buy a whole lot of Off! Just sayin’.

Dear “Sound of Music” Off-Broadway Tickets,
You make my wallet hurt at the thought of the price of tickets for your upcoming production. I was so excited about an Off-Broadway musical coming to El Paso but the cost of the tickets is prohibitive to most of the community. For $88 each, PC and I can sit on the top most row of the balcony. We won’t be able to make out the actors but would, hopefully, be able to hear the music. Or we can save close to $200 and I can whistle the whole soundtrack and reenact the highlights at home.

Nice letters! I love how enthusiastic and joyous you are. I agree there’s nothing better than ticking off a to-do list! Your grumbles sound fully justified – shame about the cost of the tickets, I love The Sound of Music!

What a sweet compliment you left for me! I would like to think I am enthusiastic. Thank you for saying that This week I have somehow falling off on my to-do list making and I have missed it. Need to get back on my game this coming week. I don’t usually make a weekend to-do list but that might be a good thing to start to keep me on my A-game every day of the week. Isn’t The Sound of Music one of THE best musicals? I am looking forward to Mary Poppins this Christmas but really wish some of the good ole favorite songs would be in this sequel so I can sing along!

How fun to read your little letters! I found myself nodding along. I am enjoying my fall decor too – even though there is no one here besides my husband and me to enjoy it that’s okay, I am enjoying it. I am so happy your flat tire did not end up in a new set of tires and only cost $10!!! That’s a celebration!
xo,

I so enjoyed your fall decor post. And I am glad to know that I am not the only one who jumps into fall decorating even though no one is really home to see it much. I do it for ME!! For myself. Because I like seeing my pumpkins, fall leaves (fake as they are), and scarecrows. And I love the colors of fall. PC and I tussled this week over my decorations. He doesn’t get it and accuses me of being a hoarder which is like a dagger to the heart. I am very OCD and organized and neat so hearing that is really hurtful.

Pleased to read your heart was singing more than it was hurting!
I drive a Mini and because it’s a small car, you don’t get a spare tyre. If you get a puncture there is a gadget in the boot and you attach a ‘whatyamacallit’ to a ‘doodah’ and apparently it seals the hole and re-inflates it enough to get you home! I’m so impressed you were able to change the tyre yourself, those gym sessions are paying off 😉

I love you comments so very much. Please don’t ever stop commenting with fun little words like ‘whatchamacallit’ and ‘doodah’. You always make me smile if not laugh out loud. Thank you, sugar foot!!
My nephew had a Mini but I didn’t know that they don’t come with a spare tire. I guess if you can attach the whatchamacallit to the doodah to fix the flat, who needs to drag around a spare!!

I’m glad you got your tire fixed! I always worry when my husband is out of town, if I were to get a flat. I guess I could always just tow my car to a tire place! HA! 😉 Theater tickets can be so costly. When Hamilton came here, it was just insane how much they raised the price! That mask turned out super, super cute! 🙂 You are so creative!

Ha!! I bet you could change a tire, too!! Not hard, just have to do things in the right order. My first thought was to call PC but he was in North Carolina. Thought he could talk me through changing the tire but he wouldn’t have been impressed with me! So I decided to try Plan B.
I really, really want to see The Sound of Music but just think that money could go 1,000 other places. But then again, you only live once. And I can sing the whole musical so I would really enjoy it. Maybe I will splurge and get the tickets and suck it up. Ha!!
Thank you for the compliment on my mask. Carrie, you and the kids would have loved this event. All free. All the supplies you needed to make a great mask…paint, feathers, sequins and jewels, ribbons, glitter. It was fabulous. I felt like I was in the movie Coco!!
