Shutterbugs and photo-lovin’ friends glad to have you join me for iSpy and WPSH Photo Challenges 2.1. Shorthand for iSpy and the Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt. Today I am sharing my snapshots for both of these photo series. You can revisit last month’s post, here.
My blogging buddy Lysha at A Camera and a Cookbook hosts the iSpy challenge. She gives us 5 prompts each week and shares her own photos with a link up on Saturdays. The Winter Photo Scavenger hunt (WPSH) is hosted by Mary Lou and Ellen. We are tasked with finding all of the objects by 03.31.2021.
Photo Challenges 2.1
You might remember that once a month I share my photos for the Sunday Stills photo challenge with Terri at Second Wind Perspectives. That post will be coming right up!! For today, though, check out these pictures for photo challenges 2.1.
ISPY PHOTO CHALLENGE 2021
Sharing 2 weeks worth of photos for this challenge.
ISPY WEEK #6
– Messy – one of the activities on my winter bucket list was to do some crafts with Lucia. I finally had the opportunity to make the pinecone bird feeders with my pumpkin pie this weekend. It was a slightly messy project, which bothered Lucia a little bit. And, to be honest, her Gabba, too.
– Writing – not sure why, but my new phone photographs words backwards. I am sure there’s a way around that but will have to investigate. Can you read the writing on my graphic tee?
– Glass – the water in the pool reflected the early evening sky like glass.
– Alive – this pumpkin has remained alive since it was plucked from the pumpkin patch this fall. Hope to plants its seeds in a garden this spring.
– Photographer’s Choice – snapped this photo of our Upwords board mid-game. PC won this round but the following game night, I won. The master has become the student. Or something like that.
ISPY WEEK #7
– Progress – making progress on my mosaic, thanks to the #100dayproject. Might actually get this thing finished.
– Sign – from our neighborhood Little Free Library. One of my winter goals is to consolidate my children’s books. I have worked on that but need to do a little more work!! This LFL has been the recipient of many of my purged books.
– Picture of a Picture – or three. My beautiful granddarlings, Cadence Ellie on the left, Camila Jean in the middle and Lucia Carolina on the right. Their first birthdays.
– Selfie – took this shot while looking down at the camera. Made my hair look like I actually have some!! Better than Rogaine!!
WINTER PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT (WPSH)
For review, here is the list of 20 prompts. The only rules: all photos must be your own work and must be taken between those dates. But remember that up to three of these can be substituted using the alternative prompts at the end of the list if necessary.
- A set of three
- Round and round
- Peek inside ✔️
- Glass
- A treasured item
- Horizontal ✔️
- An opening ✔️
- A sign of the times ✔️
- Weather conditions ✔️
- Work in progress ✔️
- Measures ✔️
- In the distance ✔️
- Something beginning with C ✔️
- One of many ✔️
- Something with legs ✔️
- A face ✔️
- Comfort food
- Something you do every day
- Something yellow ✔️
- Marking time
Alt A. In pieces
Alt B. Textured
Alt C. Black and white
- #4 glass – PC helped me cut sheets of glass into tiny bits for my mosaic. The nippers require quite a bit of hand strength.
- #9 weather conditions – our February snow storm that turned the whole state of Texas white for a few days. I like the contrast between the green leaves that had just come out on the Mexican elder tree with the white snow.
- #13 something with C – our last name. And this pillow. Which represents the C in our last name.
- #19 something yellow – all the roses.
YOUR TURN
I’ve enjoyed participating in these photo challenges this year. Sunday Stills, iSPY and the WPSH. Have a new phone with 3 cameras that I need to learn how to use. The phone came with the tiniest owner’s guide. Have had to Google how to turn the thing off. Definitely a learning curve.
I challenge you to try taking photos for some of these prompts just to see what you come up with. See if doing so won’t have you looking at the little things in your world with a new, more appreciative eye.
Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. Hope your week has started off well!
Hugs and kisses,
No problem finding something for ‘weather conditions’ in this challenge! What a lot of snow you had.
I love the perspective of the photo of the game in progress, that’s an unusual view. I wondered also how you got the chips of glass for the mosaic, now I see how that happens! I could see me getting into all kinds of a mess doing that 😉
Oh, Deb, there is glass flying everywhere over here. Especially when I am breaking the large tiles of glass into tiny pieces for the mosaic. I really should be wearing goggles!! And probably some kind of head to toe protective suit.
Lovely colors here! We also have a leftover pumpkin that got covered in snow and is still there!
Thank you! Are you going to use the pumpkin seeds from yours to grow your own?
What a great photo post! I loved looking at the little glimpse into your life! I say that every time, but it’s true. I love seeing how creative you are with each prompt. And little Lucia is just adorable! YAY for getting some creative time in. xoxox
Thank you, doll, for the kind words. I love my Lucia. Cannot believe she is going to be five in a few weeks.
You really take some fabulous photos Leslie.
And I recognized your Gibby’s scarf…it’s fabulous on you!!!

Thank you!! Love taking pictures of snow. It just makes the world even prettier.
Crazy seeing that pumpkin covered in snow, knowing you live in Texas! These photos are beautiful! And we do messy projects here as well, and we both are sort of icked out by them while doing them. LOL. Your project looked like it was a lot of fun! And I am excited to see your mosaic finished. It is good to take your time sometimes though. 🙂
Thank you, Erin. When I was a librarian we did some kind of activity with every class. There was glitter and glue all over everything but the kids loved it and so did I!!
I love your interpretation of “glass” for the I Spy challenge. And you know I love those yellow roses!!!
Thank you. Weren’t those yellow roses pretty!! Should have treated myself to a bouquet. Maybe next visit to Whole Foods I will.
Okay, I want to take this challenge too! I love this. How often do prompts go up and when does it last until. I love the photo you took of the “glass” of the reflection in the pool, it just stopped me in my tracks in the most peaceful way.

Yes, yes, come join us!! Just sent you an email with the info. Hope you will grab your camera and come play!!
Interesting photos. The pond was lovely as were the roses. And of course, the granddaughter pictures – those are always perfect. And, that selfie wasn’t bad either 🙂
Grace & Peace, Iris

Thank you, Iris. I bet you have a good eye for photography. Come play along with us. The Sunday Stills challenge is year long. The scavenger hunts are seasonal so another one should start this month for spring.
So many great shots! Your selfie is beautiful. The glass shot is prefect. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for hosting this weekly photo challenge. You are truly causing me to look at ordinary things with a new eye.
Super photos, love the little girl (messy) and your pumpkin with the snow (alive) – what a great punch of colour. CarolG
Thank you so much for coming by, CarolG. and for leaving a comment. Will be heading to your blog now! I am so enjoying these photo challenges for making me look at the world a little more closely.
Love your photos Leslie….I haven’t joined the I spy or the WPSH one but still have it in my mind to do so. Working on getting in a groove with the others first before I add more.
Thank you, Kirstin. Glad you are doing Sunday Stills. Your photos are so lovely. Maybe just wait to see if Ruth does a spring scavenger hunt and join in for it.
Love that selfie of you, Leslie! Your smile is so beautiful and inviting. That snow!!! Still can’t believe all of that showed up in TX. Glad you all are okay.
Aww, Bri!!! Thank you, baby girl. Sure loved our snow day and thankful we had no issues because of it.
