Sweet Friends,
Sharing a collaboration post on the fashion must-haves for fall 2019. This season I have really stepped outside my style comfort zone with some of the trends I’ve tried. How about you?
Fashion Must-Haves for Fall 2019
We all want to look good and feel great, but increasingly, feeling good goes hand in hand with buying from companies that possess a good ethical mindset. Looking your best doesn’t mean you need to compromise on the values that are important to you. So, with this in mind, we’ve curated a list of fall must-haves to consider when you refresh your wardrobe this season. Enjoy!

Knit sweaters
As the temperature drops, we reach for those warm layers, and a gorgeous knit is something you’ll enjoy wearing again and again. Wear rich colors and chunky knit patterns made with soft wools for the ultimate look for both warmth and style. Slouchy and relaxed, it adds a delicious pop of color to your look.
Boyfriend jeans
A good pair of jeans are a gift to the busy wardrobe, and these beautifully cut ‘boyfriend’ jeans like these at Loft Outlet are a smart choice for fall. Denim wears well and is such a practical choice for those days when you are out and about. Dressed up or casual, a well-cut pair of jeans always look great.
Trench coat
A long line trench coat, like this one at Target, calls to mind the femme fatal from Hollywood film noir, so you can be forgiven for forgetting how very practical this stylish wardrobe classic can be. That cinched-in waist and broad collar create a very flattering silhouette that emphasizes your figure without burying it in layers of fabric (as so many winter coats do). A trench coat will take you from fall and right through until the spring showers; it’s a wonderfully adaptable item of clothing. Buy from a manufacturer with exemplary ethical credentials and you not only have yourself a wardrobe investment that never goes out of style, but you will also feel good every time you wear it.
I just ordered this very affordable trench from Target. Can’t wait to wear it! With our mild-ish winters, it should work well from fall to spring. They also had this darker-colored trench. It was hard to decide which one to go with, but opted for the khaki. Thought it might be more neutral.
Leather boots
Decent leather boots are a fall wardrobe staple. It’s important to make sure your leather is sourced sustainably and ethically. For example, by the end of the year, 100% of leather used by ASOS will be sourced from LWG tanneries – which means you can walk tall knowing your footwear was made with ethical and environmental principles. We love the rich tan colored leather and wood-effect heels on the boots – a classic pairing, you’ll be wearing them year after year. They’d work so well with jeans or a skirt. The addition of a modest heel gives boots a little extra glamour.
I love the Frye boots my sweet Prince C. gifted me for Christmas a few years ago. The more I have worn them, the prettier they have become. They’ve aged like a fine wine! Wish everything aged that way.
Woollen scarf
An oversized, supersoft woollen scarf is a short cut to serious coziness and no fall wardrobe can be complete without one. Choose a neutral color that will complement your personal color palette and find a few different ways to wear it. Draped loosely over the shoulders looks effortlessly elegant, and who would guess you are wearing it just to stay warm?
I have always longed for at least a couple of days cold enough to merit wearing a blanket scarf. Such days are few and far between here in El Paso. But maybe this year, I can drape one over the shoulders of my trench?
Other Trends
As you know, I am doing the fall 2019 capsule wardrobe challenge with Alison at Get Your Pretty On. Although the challenge is already underway, it isn’t too late for you to register, here, and pick up styling tips and shopping suggestions for all this fall’s best looks. Some of the trends Alison has shared are bright-colored sweaters, wide-leg jeans, moto jackets and plaid blazers, and lots of camo, leopard and snakeskin prints. Will be doing a post soon to share some of my favorite outfits from the challenge.
Recently shared my fall Stitch Fix reveal and review. You can check out the great tops I scored in my fall Fix, here. Had fun opening my fashion haus and playing dress up this week.
Oh, and I had such fun last weekend window shopping at our outlet mall. Didn’t buy a thing…YET! But snapped lots of pics of fall must-haves for my wish list. Will be sharing those with you in an upcoming post. Stay tuned!
Your Turn
What are your wardrobe tips for a thoughtful, ethical and super stylish fall? Is there anything trendy you are wanting to try? Anything you think is too far out to make your list of fall must-haves? I was really leery about the wide leg pants but I love them!!
Thank you, sweet friends for stopping by. Wishing you a wonderful, fashionable weekend!
Hugs and kisses,

I’m really for the fall clothes and boots. I just brought up the tote I keep my sweaters in and need to get them back in my closet. The weather is finally cooperating to begin wearing some of my fall things too.

I have an old pair of boyfriend jeans from Loft and they are SUPER old but definitely my faves. I saw so many cute trench coats and wool scarves on our trip. They’re not practical for my life in Hotlando but I sure do admire them. Have a great weekend my friend!

I love boots in the fall! Just got a new dress that will go great with my brown boots, I think!

Fun ideas for the Fall. I love when it’s colder, because I’m a big fan of layers. 🙂 I’d really like to find a pair of overalls this Fall.

I just ordered some more swing dresses from Old Navy… love them with leggings & boots. My go-to winter wear

Oddly, there’s nothing on my must have list for fall, other than practical items like comfortable shoes and warmer clothing. I’ll have to do some exploring. Keep us posted on your fashions!

Do you have any Skechers? Probably do because I think I was the last woman on earth to discover them. And even then it was PC who bought them for me. But my Skechers are the most comfortable shoes I own. I am thinking you will need more winter clothes like you mentioned, wraps, jackets because you will see temps below freezing in Ft. Worth/Dallas and probably at least one snow.

Normally I’d be in the opposite season to you, but we’re heading to the OK for a month in December so I’m on the lookout for great winter looks. Thanks!

That is always so interesting to me…how you guys in the southern hemisphere sunbathe in the winter!! And we bundle up. And then vice versa. OK being Oklahoma in the U.S.?

I look forward to wearing my ponchos each fall, I just recently purchased another one; can you have too many? Any who I’ll be featuring it on the blog soon. Also, I got a trench coat as well, a chocolate color, it’s really beautiful. I believe I’m prepared for fall.
I can’t wait to see your coat from target, I bet it’s beautiful, I simply love Target! Nice post Leslie

Great list. I would definitely add snakeskin print boots/shoes (or anything snakeskin ) and anything rust colored.

I love that trench coats are back in such a big way. I have an old calf length wool trench style coat. I hadn’t worn in a long time, but it’s a beautiful coat. I’m so glad I kept it and can wear it again.

I agree with you on everything — although I’ve never considered a trench coat, but I agree. Especially now that I’m living in Louisiana. And boyfriend jeans are my go to for just about everything.
My fall/winter staple is a cardigan. I love love love the maxi styles. I even wear one around the house.

All of these are great fall must-haves A trench coat has been on my wishlist since last fall and I’m glad the trend has stuck around. They are such a classic! I love scarves and always seem to find one more that I need to have!

These are all great fall must-haves! I love my scarves and leather boots! A nice trench coat is on my list too!

I am so excited to have my trench coat from Target. Had a London Fog is a past lifetime. It lasted forever but brought me sad feelings and memories of a failed relationship so donated it a few years ago. This one is not nearly as nice but probably a 1/4th the price.
Dani
The trench coat is on my fashion wishlist, along with riding boots. I wore mine out last year, but always have a hard time finding ones that fit my skinny little chicken legs! Chunky sweaters and a moto jacket are a must for me as well. Great compilation!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Dani. I have trouble finding boots, too. My calves are pretty skinny. Last year I saw a lot of gals wearing wide calf boots that kind of stuck out from their legs but that didn’t do much for me. Check out Target’s cute trench coats. The prices are great!

We’re right in the midst of spring here in Aus but it seems burnt orange is a universal favourite the world over right now.
Cheers

Isn’t burnt orange a lovely color! Second only to green in my book. Wishing you a beautiful spring full of lots of beautiful color. Thank you so much for discovering my blog and taking time to comment and say hello.
