Friends,
You might want to pinch yourselves, but you aren’t dreaming! I am actually writing blog posts two days in a row. Dreamy, I know, but you are wide-awake and I am…well, I am still in bed but awake, none-the-less.
Always enjoy a writing a Currently post, so when I came across my friend Michael Ann’s Currently on her blog Out and Back, decided it was time to write my own. And I am linking-up with Michael Ann and her friends Anne and Kellie. You have a personal invite to stop by their blogs to read what they are up to but after you see what I’ve been cooking, doing, enjoying, playing and wrapping ’round here. (I had to change the order of those categories because they have to be in ABC order for my OCD-librarian brain)
Cooking
As you know, my Prince Charming has been out of town this week. Good thing, because I haven’t felt like cooking and he’d have wasted away to nothing. I’ve been eating peanut butter and Panda Express, not always together. He’s been eating at Captain D.’s and Shoney’s in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. But before he left, I was cooking. I was. One night we had “Glazed Pork Chops”, a recipe I found Budget Bytes, here. I got a little too enthusiastic when I added the cayenne pepper but these were truly delicious.
Also fixed “Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet”, a 21 Day Fix-friendly meal. Found this recipe at here, at Fit Mom, Angela D. Seems to me that if I alternate between 21 Day meals and regular meals, maybe I won’t gain weight. Won’t lose any, but won’t gain any. Sounds like a plan til we get through the holidays, anyway.
Minus the cherry tomato. We don’t do cherry tomatoes.
Doing
Writing a blog post, silly. What are YOU doing? I have also been nursing my sinus infection, whining to anyone who will listen, blowing my nose a lot. While PC has been gone, I did get the Christmas tree up. He really, really, really dislikes doing that. Took this pic and sent it to him last night, telling him it was safe for him to come home today.
Less fuzzy pictures to come when The Blended Blog gals and I host our holiday home tour hop. But the blurry look of this photo gives you some idea how I am seeing things with my pink eye. Yup, more whining.
Enjoying
Time at home. As much as I have enjoyed working, I do miss my time at home. I have been working a long-term library sub job at Logan Elementary since November 10. We did have Thanksgiving break during that time but we had company = I cooked and cleaned.
In the library, we have been reading books from the Master List for the Bluebonnet Reading Award for 2016, with grades 4th & 5th. Learning the Dewey Decimal System with 3rd. Folktales, versions of “The Gingerbread Man” with 2nd and versions of “Stone Soup” with 1st. And the babies have been learning about sequencing using the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
Here are my PKs playing with a finger puppet mouse we made after reading the book, using props to retell the story and eating Cookie Crisp cereal (mouse-sized cookies).
In the pics below you can see the kids retelling the story using our props. And all of the props laid out for my sister Valerie, a librarian in Houston, to see.
Playing
Not sure what goes here. Playing as in game? Or as in music? Or as in toys? Really not doing a lot of playing of any sort over here right now. I do play an occasional game of Slitherio at night. You can play, too. Click here to check it out.

My name is Mimi on the game. I hang around near the center of the game board. Look for me and say ‘hi’.
Wrapping
I haven’t wrapped much. Did get my mom’s Christmas wrapped, boxed and shipped on Monday. But have a bed-full of stuff to wrap downstairs. I have laid it all out to see what I have bought for each person so far. PC’s presents aren’t on the bed because, for the most part, they haven’t arrived. But, yes, they have been ordered.
Please excuse the messy look of the bed. We really don’t have a shapeless red bedspread on our guest bed. I just keep a sheet over the bed so my girls, Purrsimmony and Purrsnickitty can relax here at their leisure without worry about fur getting everywhere.
Every year we say we aren’t going to buy each other anything (more his idea than mine…he’s a Grinch). And every year we do. This year our new couches were supposed to be our Christmas. We ordered them in August. Yes, AUGUST. Here’s our chair. Only it will be in Bordeaux. I hope because we still don’t have them.
Thanks, Sofa Mart. They are promised for right after Christmas. But they were originally promised by Halloween, and well before Thanksgiving. We’ll see. P.S. I am grumpy with them and not giving them credit for this photo. But it came from the Sofa Mart website. So there, Sofa Mart.
And that’s what’s going on in my life. I am feeling mucho better but the voice is still IF-y. PC gets home in four hours and this house is a disaster. Half decorated for Christmas-half of Thanksgiving decorations still up. Gotta get busy.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me. Be sure to stop by my friend Michael Ann’s blog to see what she’s up to Currently. I bet it will be decidedly more exciting!
Wave…still too contagious to send hugs and kisses,
No signature yet but it’s coming…

You are cracking me up, Leslie! I love reading your posts! I would never have thought to alphabetize the categories. Ha! I don’t have a lick of OCD in me! Boo for pink eye and AWOL sofas. Hooray for fun library programs, good recipes, new sofas, and Christmas decorations. (I put those all out of order intentionally!) I hope you’re feeling better every day. Sending Christmas hugs to you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You sweet thing. You are warming my heart all the way from Georgia. I think part of my need to alphabetize, aside from OCD and
being a librarian, stems from using it to help me remember things. I can more easily remember CDE…oops, have already forgotten
the rest. Nevermind.
Love that you put your list above intentionally out of ABC order. Makes me have to do it mentally. I need all the mental
stimulation I can get!!
Thanks for being a good friend, Michael Ann. I feel very close to you and Sheila.
Michael Ann
LOL! Sending great big hugs to you, Leslie! Thanks for not hating me for putting things out of order! Have a great weekend.

I like your new design! Hope you will be feeling better soon.

Thank you. The blog face-lift was stressful. Wound up doing a lot of it myself after paying to have it done. But I like the end result. Still working on tweeking a few things. Feeling better tonight but just no voice. Drinking a little peach vodka to soothe my cough. Ha!

Love that it’s still snowing, please don’t make that go away after the holidays, yes to panda express and I LOL when you said you don’t eat them together, you’re so funny.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! Maybe it should snow all year long in my enchanted forest. Kind of goes along with fairy tales. Or maybe I can find a widget to create fairy dust for warmer months!!!!
While peanut butter is good with any and everything, I find its consistency hard to mix up with my Panda Express. I generally use PB as a side dish, a heaping spoonful, with my main course!

Sinus infections are the worst – hope you’re on the mend! And all of these library activities just sound too much fun. Can I go back to 3rd grade? Thanks for linking up!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for coming by! You are welcome to join 3rd grade in the library any time. I love being a
librarian and always enjoy trying to create fun learning activities for my students.
I am feeling much better, thank you!
