Hello, dollies!
It’s that time again. No, not Howdy Doody time, for you gals of a certain age like me. It’s Currently time. And Anne‘s co-host this month is my buddy Carrie of A Stylish Fit.
Today we are sharing what we’re currently celebrating, creating, going, sharing, wearing. Gotta love that alphabetical order. Let’s do this thing!
Currently, 05.2018
Celebrating
…actually celebrating a couple of things. Mother’s Day, which I thought was this Sunday until a sweet reader gently corrected me. So thinking about Mother’s Day at this point, getting cards and gifts in the mail for my mama and mother-in-law. Will celebrate on Sunday, 05.13, right?
We are also celebrating my oldest daughter Brennyn’s marriage to Mustafa. They will be married in Las Vegas at The Venetian on Thursday. Kind of an elopement but not exactly. They will be in Las Vegas by themselves but we will have an Afghani-themed wedding celebration in June with all of the family and friends. Wish I had a photo of the bride and groom for this post. Bren has promised to send one. So, if you are reading this and seeing a photo attached below, I have updated this post since writing it. (Later – here is a photo Brennyn sent from the plane before they took off.)
Creating
…oh, friends…I have too many projects in the works. My elephant cross-stitch for the guest bedroom. My mosaic table top. And elephant collage on canvas. The painting I am working on at Hobby Lobby. Breaking out my Bible journaling supplies, to start putting my journaling Bible to its intended use. And there are always photos and occasions to scrapbook.
I have been joining Erlene at My Pinterventures for her monthly link-up series featuring something we pinned and did. Starting to plan for May’s post. Check out my pinterventures for March and April, here and here.
Going
…to the gym a lot more. Anything would be a lot more since we hardly went at all while we were apart…PC in Germany and me on the road here. But we have upped our game over the last 10 days. Working out about an hour versus the 30 minutes we had been doing. Our routine varies but includes about 15 minutes of ab work and stretching, 5 minutes on step machine, 20 minutes aerobic and 20 minutes on weights. Yay for US! And tried a new form of exercise out of my comfort zone today. Can you guess what?
Sharing
…my quarters. As in change, not military barracks. One of my 2018 spring bucket list activities was to pay it forward. You can see my full list, here, and my first update, here. Filled a zip-lock bag with quarters this morning, parked downtown and walked around adding quarters to parking meters that were about to expire. The only trouble was I forgot to notice where I parked my own car! Ha! Had trouble finding my way back to it. Good thing my meter hadn’t expired. I do realize this is not something that’s going to change the course of history but might save someone a ticket or a close call.
Wearing
…since I broke my foot in January, and began wearing a shoe on that foot in March, I have struggled to find any of my shoes that fit comfortably. My foot is still swelling some and bruised so many of my shoes are tight or rub my foot in the wrong place. Had to make the ultimate sacrifice and buy a couple of new pairs of shoes, until my foot returns to normal.
My sister bought these shoes at Payless and when we were together in April, I tried them on and found them to be very comfy on my foot.
For $20, these little cuties are a steal. I have worn them several times a week since I bought them. Fun!
According to my personal stylist, Alison Lumbatis at Get Your Pretty On, (she can be yours, too! Ask me how!), two trends for spring are print flats and polka dots. I ordered these Kirsten flats by Mia from DSW and wore them for the first time this week. They are so cute and as comfortable as the Payless tennies. I will be wearing this trend a lot!!
Those sandals are some that I bought at the end of last summer and wore only once or twice. Looking forward to breaking them in good this year.
And that’s a wrap, ladybugs!! Currently, 05.2018 is officially in the books. There is a terrible wind storm blowing in from the west, with gusts of 60 mph this afternoon. I am going to get started on spring cleaning my Prince’s royal library (study). Que fun!
Your Turn
Whatca doin’ right this minute…besides reading my post? Are you celebrating, creating, going, sharing or wearing anything special? Won’t you share in a comment below? Then please be sure to stop by to see how Anne and Carrie responded to the prompts for currently, 05.2018.
Thanks, babes, for coming by. Tomorrow is “Sentence a Day” day so hope you will come back that!
Hugs and kisses,
Laura
Your daughter is beautiful! Congratulations to the happy looking couple! And Vegas, too! That’s so exciting!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much. Would love to take credit for my daughter but she looks so much more like her dad. She is beautiful, inside and out.
They had a private ceremony in Vegas and will have a family celebration in June. Double the fun.
Dara
Congrats to your daughter!! Putting quarters in the meters is really sweet! I really like those payless shoes too.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Dara! Thanks for finding me on 52Frames. I got off track several weeks ago and didn’t submit anything for a couple of challenges but I am back. Learning a lot!
Thank you for the congratulations on Brennyn’s wedding. She should be saying ‘I do’ right about NOW!! I am dying for pictures over here.
My Payless shoes are really great. I have a number of pairs of Converse but for some reason they are really rubbing my broken foot wrong. Hope the swelling goes down and I can wear them again before long.
Laura
I love the printed flats and sandals you got! They are so fun! That was so sweet of you to plug meters! And I love how your elephant is turning out. That will be beautiful when it is done!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you. I need to quit horsing around so much on the computer and work on that elephant!! Have never heard the expression ‘plug the meters’. I have heard you can get in trouble for doing that. I guess the city would lose some precious money?? Geez!
Whitney @ Whitney à la mode
Good for you for getting back into the gym! And congratulations to your daughter and her fiancé! I can’t wait to see pictures from their reception this summer!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Whitney. We have been going whole-hog at the gym. Hope we can keep it up. I plan to go sleeveless to the reception…ain’t nobody got time for batwings!

Thank you, Lauren. I am writing my glossies post for June right now!! I don’t want to miss that link-up – found a great article. Excited to share.
Thank you for the best wishes for my little bride. The first week of marriage has been wedded bliss.
