Morning, ladybugs!
It is now officially beyond the mid point of the month, so you know what that means…I am over 2 weeks late linking up with Anne in Residence for her Currently series. Currently posts always go live on the first Wednesday of the month. Unless you are me! Have been held a captive passenger on the crazy train, and we all know there’s no Internet access on it. I have been in Washington state for a long weekend, mom is back in the hospital and has been for a week, PC is losing his job as of May, I resigned from mine before knowing he was losing his, and there are about 900 other little things making me bonkers.
Today’s post is all about what we are currently anticipating, going (to), hearing, making, and watching. Wait a sec! No, it’s not. It’s about what we are accomplishing, buying (and shouldn’t be since we don’t have any expendable money right now), making, reading and scheming. Told you I was on the crazy train. Heck, I am the conductor!! Wish it was about what is making me crazy…I could really elaborate on that! But alas, it’s not so away we go…
Currently, 03.2019 and 1/2
Accomplishing…
7,200 steps and 3 stories a day. Not absolutely every day but almost. Averaged 7,300+ steps a day last week and 5 stories a day. Now that spring is springing, I hope to get my morning walk in which about guarantees I will make 7,200 steps each day that I do it.
Buying…
not a whole lot for myself, since I quit my little job and with 3 birthdays this month, and souvenirs to buy while I was in Washington. But that’s ok, I don’t need a thing. Except these white booties (similar, similar) I ordered before I left town. Can’t wait to try them on.
Ok, everytime I try to add the link to a similar pair of booties and no matter what I do, no matter what URL I use, it links to an UGLY scarf. Think I finally got it fixed AFTER this post went live. Goin’ round the bend on the crazy train. Choo-choo!
Bought this fun graphic tee to wear on the plane to see my P. Charming. And I do mean WE watch “The Bachelor” on Mondays.
Oh, and these Old Navy high-rise secret-slim pockets button-fly Rockstar ankle jeans, (similar, similar). Okay, these links are all messed up, too. Going back in now to try to fix them. If you are seeing links to a Margi Gras striped polo and a faux leather moto, I couldn’t get off the crazy train long enough to figure out what is going on.
Eyeing a teddy bear jacket like the one Jill at Doused in Pink styled here but need it to go on sale with the end of winter season. Wish this one would go on sale…it is reversible and the prettiest apricot color. Guess I have been shopping for myself a little bit, despite not having my little part-time job income. But that has got to stop. See scheming below.
Making…
my 2019 spring bucket list and checking it twice. How about you? Fared pretty well on my winter list. Will be sharing my spring bucket list with some pretty fabulous bloggers on 03.21.2019. Won’t you put your list together and join us? Made this graphic for the occasion. Feel free to snag it if you are joining up with us and need a quick graphic.
Reading…
The Wartime Sisters by Lynda Cohen Loigman (and several other books). Our virtual book club selected that title for our March read. We didn’t really start out choosing a book a month but it has kind of worked out that way. The gals seemed to really enjoy this book but I am not quite finished.

The characters are very well drawn and the story unfolds from the alternating perspectives of sister Ruth and Millie. Interested in joining our book club – let me know in a comment below.
Scheming…
ways we can tighten our belts a little bit in expectation of my PC’s job ‘going away’ as of mid-May. Originally, two weeks ago, we were told he had until mid-July. But this news just keeps on getting better (not), and now he has only 2 more months. True, we could move to Virginia or Maryland, not sure which and he could keep his position. But we really don’t want to move. The Department of Defense will continue to pay my Prince C. until September and will put him on a priority placement list for a job here in El Paso. But he only gets offered one job via the list. If he turns that job down, he is on his own looking for employment. Didn’t think at this point in our lives we would be worried about making ends meet, looking for jobs. Guess I need to dust off my resume again.
Your Turn
Before you know it, we will be sharing next month’s Currently posts. Hope to have mine ready to go on the first Wednesday of April, 04.03.2019. We will be talking about what we’re currently experiencing, appreciating, wishlisting, posting and considering. Going to start thinking about that post right now. Click here to read Anne’s March Currently post or run over there with me right now.
Thank you, sweet ones, for your sweet friendship. I like to think you will be there when my crazy station pulls into the station.
Hugs and kisses,
Debbie
Oh Leslie, that all sounds a bit dire, I do hope things work out OK for you. I enjoyed reading your upbeat take on the prompt despite your current situations. All the best for the future, whatever it holds for you both. Deb
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Debbie. We are taking things one day at a time at my house. Yesterday PC came home with a PDF about going to Afghanistan as a civilian soldier. Ha!! He was kidding, thank goodness. And I am hopeful that a new job presents itself before we have to think of something as drastic as that!
Kellyann Rohr
Oh man, I am sorry about the job news, it does stink when a big change like that occurs. I am praying for you all that things improve on that front quickly and you feel peace. I remember my dad had a great job that went away when I was in high school. Our lives changed so drastically and it was hard on my parents. My mom had always stayed home and had to go to work, my dad worked two jobs. It was a very depressing time in our lives. Sorry for rambling but when I hear about job changes that immediately comes up for me. Hugs friend!
xo,
Kellyann
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Kellyann, I am sure those days in high school were very difficult with your dad working 2 jobs and your mom having to begin working, too. I know there is something to be said for tribulations making us stronger but some days, I would prefer to be just a little weaker!
Deb
It’s so horrible when you think you are safe and secure and then suddenly find out that changes are afoot. July was bad enough but Mid May does not give you much time to find something else, I guess the only silver lining to this cloud is that he will be paid until September. We went through this about 7 years ago; I can still remember that feeling of uncertainty – sending lots of cyber hugs to you x
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the cyber hugs. I can feel them bringing me comfort. I am sorry you, too, had to experience this job uncertainty. But we will get through it, one way or the other.
Laura
I am so sorry to read about your husband’s job. And I read where you quit your little fun job, too! I wish you both the best and hope that you are both able to land something soon. I am loving your t-shirts lately, Girlie! I especially loved the St. Paddy’s day shirt! So. darn. cute! Have a fun day!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the sweet words about my T-shirts. I have had fun finding little inexpensive shirts on Etsy. Tees are kind of my uniform. For the good or the bad. Graphic tees are just more fun.
I did quit my job when they told me we couldn’t use our space heaters anymore. It was just miserably cold at work, and the pay was slightly above minimum wage. I did enjoy having that purpose in my life. But something else will come along. Just kind of crummy timing that I quit and 2 days later we learned about PC’s job going away.
Gail
Sorry to hear about PC’s job, bad timing for you both. It sounds trite but it’s usually true that when a door closes, a window opens. I hope that windows opens soon for you.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I do believe that when a door closes, a window opens. And I feel certain it will happen for us around PC’s job situation. In the meantime, we are just tightening our belts and trying to be patient.
Dara
Sorry things are kind of crazy lately. I hope it will all work out for the best. I need to write a spring bucket list, so I may join your link up! I am adding The Wartime Sisters to my to be read list, I read her other book and really liked it!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
The Wartime Sisters was a very satisfying read. All of the gals in the book club enjoyed it and it had a good ending. Tied things up nicely. Give it a go!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I am so sorry to hear about PC’s job situation! Oh gosh, that has got to be adding some stress to your lives and then with your mom back in the hospital. Oh no!! 🙁 My dad is in the hospital right now too, for a planned surgery he had yesterday. But, the doctor is wanting to do a ‘new’ surgery that only takes 3 hours (ugh) on him sometime soon. Never enjoy hearing that kind of news when he’s already so fragile. Sigh. Hugs!! Everything will hopefully workout for the best. At least you have some time to prepare.

How is your dad? I saw this comment and was knee-deep in something and couldn’t respond right away. Hope he is recovering well from his surgery. A 3-hour surgery sounds pretty extensive. Can he put it off for a bit?
We are trying to stay calm about PC’s job situation. Hopefully, something will turn up before we have to take in boarders!!
Donna
Hi, Leslie – I am so sorry to hear about the challenges that you are facing.
Sending warm, calm, PEACEFUL thoughts your way. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the PEACEFUL thoughts you sent my way. Taking deep breaths over here and trying to believe that things will soon be better.

Hi Leslie,
The job thing is distressing, but I firmly believe things happen for a reason.
I am adding The Wartime Sisters to my reading list…
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Indeed things happen for a reason!! Not always clear to us but part of a bigger plan for our lives.
Danielle
Leslie so sorry to hear about PC’s job. That is crappy news. Hopefully something comes his way. I am still reading the Wartime Sisters as well. I am enjoying it though.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wasn’t Wartime Sisters good? I am glad everything was tidied up at the end. Love a happy ending!!
Rebecca Jo
That shirt!! HAHA – I love it! I just told someone that I didnt know what to do with myself yesterday with no Bachelor on!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I get so excited when Monday rolls around until I realize – NO BACHELOR. But it picks up again in May. Hurray!
Jill
I’m so sorry to hear about PC’s job news. I hope the priority placement list works out and he is offered something soon. Thank you so much for the shout out! The coat you are eyeing is super cute! How fun is that Bachelor tee!

We are trying to keep from getting to worried yet about PC’s job. Hopefully, something will come along. And I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Got all excited because I discovered I had 187 points or credits on Amazon and was thinking of all I could buy with them until I realized it equaled $1.87! Ha! Still eyeing that cute teddy bear jacket, though.
Laura
Oh my! Things sound like they have been rough for you lately! I’m sorry to hear that! I hope PC gets a new job lined up soon! And I hope your mom is able to be released from the hospital soon, too! I’ll be thinking about you all!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Mom is home from the hospital. And so far, PC and I haven’t panicked about the job situation. Things have a way of working out. Thank you for your good thoughts.
ShootingStarsMag
Only two more months on the job? That’s crazy. I’m sorry to hear all that. The older you get, the more you assume your job will be secure and I hate that that’s not always the case for people. Hopefully something will work out and you won’t have to even consider moving! I wouldn’t want to move either.
-Lauren
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are so right! We never would have dreamed that in our late middle ages we would be worrying about jobs!! Almost to retirement age but not quite. Hoping we can avoid moving and find something here. I saw that Target was hiring. But then all of my paycheck would go to merchandise!

Life sure gets crazy at times, huh? Hope all works out for everyone ♥
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Life does get crazy. And is always interesting!!
Lysha
Continued prayers for your mom, as well as the job situation. Averaging 7,300 steps or so a day isn’t shabby at all.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, dear friend. My mom has a good day and then a bad day. Can’t help but believe we have the good because of prayers like yours. Thank you.
