Ladybugs, linking up with Anne in Residence for Currently 02.2020. Anne’s Currently posts always go live on the first Wednesday of the month. And she is so good to send email reminders to those of us who participate regularly. You might enjoy writing for this series, too. It’s one of those posts that makes me think!! Before we get started today, you can read January’s Currently post, here.
This month, we are talking about what we’re currently: embracing, loving, preparing, tasting, and wearing. And in that same ABC order, here are my responses.

Embracing…
my natural hair color. Apparently, my natural hair color is a medium brown with gray highlights. Started on this very long journey of growing out my highlights early last summer. Cannot believe how long it is taking! Holy smokes. I think I am about to the half-way mark. Half natural and half colored. A little skunk-ish.
I wouldn’t say my gray is at all sophisticated 0r even especially neat. But it is certainly streaked.
Loving…
being a grandmother for the third time. I now have 3 little granddaughters. It doesn’t get much better than that. Even when they really only want their mama to hold them and feed them and change them and burp them. And not you at all.
Even when they are sick and trying to share their germs with you.
And, even when they think they might be too big to sit on your lap.
Preparing…
my blog posts ahead of time. How about that? I know, it’s going to snow!! Not only that, I am even hosting a couple of fun posts this month. I’ve adopted the 10 on the 10th series. Remember it? Whitney hosted last year and kindly passed the torch to me.
Here’s the graphic I’ve created for it. Our posts will go live on…you guessed it…the 10th of each month. Hope this will be a fun little link-up for my blogging buddies and me.
(Will Be) Tasting…
cinnamon and orange rolls baked using my grandmother’s recipe. For Tasty Tuesday on 02.18, some of my bestest blogging buddies and I are going to hosting A Sweet Labor of Love Recipe Swap. Each of us will be sharing a favorite sweet treat on our blogs. Then, we will be hopping from one blog to the next to collect all the recipes. I am going to make my grandmother’s cinnamon and orange rolls. So mark your agendas, gals. This is a post you won’t want to miss.
This is a photo from the last time I made the cinnamon rolls. When baking, they fill the whole house with this heavenly, cinnamony-sweet fragrance. And they taste so good. Plan to bake this weekend.
Wearing…
my Express faux leather leggings (exact, similar). I purchased them this fall and wore them most recently for an impromptu date night. Dinner at Chipotle. Tried one of Alison’s 21 legging looks. Chambray shirt, white tank top, faux leather leggings. Here are my inspiration looks from Alison.
Couldn’t decide whether I liked mine better with my Converse tennies or my black pumps for our date night.
Put both looks on Instagram for a vote and the Converse won, handily. But PC picked the pumps. So the pumps, it was.
I will wear this outfit again very soon with the tennies. With them on, I felt like Baby in “Dirty Dancing” + 40 years, give or take.
My friends, Express has a great BOGO %50 off sale going on right now on their leggings. I am thinking maybe these little camo cuties and this pair of 5 pocket ponte knit leggings need to jump in my cart.
Before I call this a post and click on publish, there’s one more thing I want to talk just a second about. My Word of the Year.
My Word of the Year
Remember how one of my Christmas mini-bucket list activities was to select an ornament that represented 2019? I’ve made no bones about it, 2019 was not my favorite year. Found a simple metal ornament with a single word that summed up what has gotten us through the roller coaster ride that was 2019. BELIEVE. Having faith or believing that in the end, everything will be okay.
And that became my word of the year. Believe. I am doing an online Bible study through the Proverbs 31 Ministries about trusting God. Working on strengthening my belief, my faith, that God will hold me up. Will light my path. He will work everything for good.
Isaiah 41:10 Common English Bible (CEB)
10 Don’t fear, because I am with you;
don’t be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
I will surely help you;
I will hold you
with my righteous strong hand
Your Turn
So, how would you respond to the prompts for today’s Currently 02.2020 post? What are you embracing, loving, preparing, tasting, and wearing? And do you have a word of the year? If not, you might want to visit Dayspring.com to take their word of the year quiz. Maybe a WOTY will find you! I took it twice to see if BELIEVE would show up. But the first time I got BLOOM. The second time I got ABIDE. Both very good words that I need to take to heart. But I am sticking with BELIEVE. If you take the quiz, let me know what word you get!
HaPpY hUmP dAy, FrIeNdS!!
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy
I think the pumps and the Converse both looks great! Your blessed with such a new baby in the family! Have a great day love!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, dear friend. I am a blessed lady!!
Deb
Look how fabulous you are in that outfit! It looks amazing.
Gorgeous photos of you with your girlies, how lucky you are to have them to cuddle!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so lucky to have my granddaughters and my daughters to cuddle with. Wish I could see more of Brennyn and Cady. So hard with the miles between us.
Juhli
What a trio of beautiful granddaughters! Love the photos of you cuddling each of them. And you look beautiful in your leggings date outfit.
The quiz to pick a word of the year was interesting and since I can’t remember the word I was thinking about I might have to go with the one it picked for me – Bloom.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Bloom is a good word. And with you contemplating a move, but having put it on the back burner for now, that is perfect for this in-between situation. Bloom where ever you are!
Dara
Your granddaughters are so cute! My word of the year is Focus. Believe is a great word!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. I could use FOCUS myself!!
Retirement Reflections
Your granddaughters are gorgeous, Leslie.
This part September, I began to let my nautral colour grow in. I agree that it is a VERY LONG process. But it is fun finding out what my natural colour is. So far, I’m thinking steel. That would work for me!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Steel!! Great color. I am kind of ebony (not quite that dark) and ivory. Or coffee with cream. Ha. Lots of cream.

Hi, Leslie! I LOVE the pictures of you with each of your granddaughters! SO PRECIOUS! I finally got caught up to where I’m supposed to be yesterday on the Trustworthy study. Since I started a week late, I had to work in two a day whenever I was able. I am really enjoying it. And I LOVE your WOTY! Thanks for sharing!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you are enjoying the Trustworthy study. I am trying to stay caught up but LIFE interferes at times. Thank you for the sweet comments about my darling baby girls. I am one lucky grandma!
Carrie
I loved this post, Leslie! You look fab in those leggings and I may have to pick up a pair myself. I’m going to plan to join you on the 10th! Hope you have a fabulous week!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay yay yay!! Thank you for coming by and leaving a sweet comment. So glad you are planning to join for 10 on the 10th!!
Anne
Cute outfit – love when you can do one outfit with two shoe options to take you two different places 🙂 And congrats on the sweet new grandbaby!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I always thought leather leggings were for ‘fancy’ but not any more!
Christie Hawkes
Thanks for sharing these tidbits of your life, Leslie. Aren’t granddaughters so much fun? I’d admire your dedication to going natural with your hair color. I’m still highlighting (or would that be low-lighting?) mine. When I retire, and we plan to travel more, I may decide to ease my way into natural to avoid the salon appointments. I’m not presently planning on choosing a WOY for 2020, but I may take the quiz…just because I’m curious…and then who knows, I may end up with a word I “need” after all. I hope all is well with you! XO
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am not missing those expensive salon appointments at all. Now I can have manicures instead!! But I am rather striped. Actually, the highlights I had have helped keep me from looking too terrible. They kind of worked with the gray that is coming in. Will be glad to have the color off, though, and see what I am left with.
Christie Hawkes
Just checking back to let you know I took the quiz and got Bloom. I’m not sure I’m going with that, but I found the questions insightful. Have a lovely day!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Bloom is a good word to keep in mind for all of us. I need to remember to bloom – be happy and grateful – wherever I am!!
ShootingStarsMag
Ooh I’m loving your outfit here! And congrats on being a grandma x 3!! Hopefully they will keep their germs away at least. 😉
I’m really trying to blog ahead again. I feel so behind. haha

Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ditto, the harder I try, the behinder I get!!
Bri
You seem like the best grandma, Leslie! How lucky are your granddaughters to have you in their life.
Rebecca Jo Vincent
Are you sure you’re a grandma of 3 in those hot pants!!!! SMOKIN’ Momma is more like it 🙂
I love your word of the year!!!!
Hope your little princess is feeling better.
Bojana
Way to embrace the gray streaks in your hair. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum as a few gray hairs have began to emerge and I am not happy about them, LOL. I loved both of your looks but I love a good pump for a night out or date night, and the converse for the casual “running – errands but I still look good” look. Have a fantastic weekend ahead.

Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Bojana. I have worn both looks now…the tennies and the pumps and probably felt the most comfortable in the tennies. Although, I love wearing heels. Eyeing some camo leggings that would be really cute with tennies, too.
As far as the gray hair goes, I just got so tired of spending the money and time at the salon. Once I grow all of the color out, I may be so horrified and I will back to the salon in a hurry but I am anxious to see how it will look.
Kellyann Rohr
Your 3 granddaughters are just precious and I know they must love spending time with you! Glad you let PC weigh in on your impromptu date night outfit shoes – both looked so good! I’ll be joining you on Monday for 10 on the 10th!
xo,
Kellyann

I feel your pain about growing your hair out. When I retired almost 3 years ago, I decided to grow my natural color grow out too. I had it highlighted before. Mine is also brown with gray highlights. I got tired of “roots” and had my hair cut very short, but I didn’t like it short, so I am now growing it out again. I think it’s just about “there”.
I am going to try the “Currently” format one of these months. It’s very appealing!
Jennifer Smith
Congratulations on being a grandma again! How precious!! I enjoyed your post…and look forward to your 10 on the 10th!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Jennifer, for finding me!! I am loving being a grandmother and really enjoyed this last week getting to know baby Cami a little better. Hope you will join me for 10 on the 10th.
Shugunna
Lovely post Leslie, all the photos are beautiful. I can see the strike of grey,
mine is coming in the same way up front, I kind of like it. Love the leggings on you!
Amy Johnson
Congrats on your new granddaughter. The cinnamon rolls look delicious. I like the pants better with the pumps too, but I’m not much of a sneaker fan. That Dayspring quiz sounds interesting. I’m off to check it out.
Jill
Congratulations on your new granddaughter! She is precious! I love those faux leather leggings on you! Your cinnamon roll recipe sounds delicious! Cant’ wait for you to share the recipe!
