Good morning, good afternoon and good evening, fashionistas and clothes-wearing friends. It is the third Thursday of the month which means it is time for Ageless Style 05.2023. Amy chose the theme for this month, spring dresses. Love that this prompt is open-ended and can include just about anything that isn’t a pair of pants!!
I am praying that somehow, I can pull off publishing 2 blog posts on the same day. My WordPress and ModSecurity (what even is that???) and Internet all like to gang up on me and wreak havoc on my intentions, so who knows how this will go. But I have 2 link-up posts planned for 05.18. Fingers crossed all goes well.
Ageless Style 05.2023
It has been a while since I last joined the Ageless Style gals but glad to be back with them. If you missed my 2 Ageless Style posts earlier this year, find them here and here. Because of PC’s diagnosis and worries over his health, and all of the trouble I have with my blog, I didn’t write a post for last month’s Ageless Style link-up but did share a picture of me wearing the prompted ‘white top’ on Instagram. Hey, are we IG buddies yet?
But enough of that…let’s get on with today’s business at hand…
Just a reminder: Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After occasionally uses affiliate links which are usually italicized. If you click or make a purchase from an italicized link provided I may receive a very small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support.
Spring Dresses
For my Sentence a Day posts, I have implemented something new. Sharing pictures of some of the outfits I wore over the month. I am not really a style blogger at all. But I do wear clothes. I like clothes. And I like wearing clothes. Sure beats the alternative. So, even though I am not doing many fashion related articles these days, it is fun to share some of what I am wearing.
Today I am styling a new Target sundress with a very old Old Navy denim jacket and some brand-new white cowboy/cowgirl boots. The dress is from the Knox Rose line. While it is a strappy sundress, the adjustable straps are thankfully wide enough to allow me to wear a regular bra and forgo my dreaded strapless job.
Loved it when I saw Lisa from Coast to Coast styling it on her IG feed. That woman features the cutest dresses. I mentioned in this post that I have been called the Queen of Kimonos. Well, Lisa should be crowned the Queen of Dresses.
And Boots to Wear With Them
My boots are mid-calf with a low heel and monochromatic stitching details on the shaft and toe. Super comfy. I did order a size up as was recommended in some of the reviews. Don’t ask me what size I wear. Just think aircraft carrier rather than tugboat.
Add a Denim Jacket
Even though it is red hot in El Paso in the summer, I am always cold wherever there is AC. Just ask PC. We have a on-going battle over the air conditioning thermostat. Right now, the AC is running and I am freezing. But he reasons that if we turn it off during the day, it will have to work harder at sunset to cool the house off for bedtime. Grrr.
I have 2 Old Navy denim jackets. The light one I am wearing with my spring dress and the one pictured below with my mom and sister, Valerie. We were celebrating Mom’s 95th birthday for which Val and I had purchased a denim jacket complete with bling like ours for our sweet mom to wear. Hard to believe she was gone less than 5 months later.
Most of our bling is in the form of costume jewelry. Either hand-me-down pieces from Mom or my dear MIL, May. Or pins from my high school days (Beta Club, Latin Club – nerd much??), my dad’s St. Jude pin from retirement. And a few pieces from Hobby Lobby.
This was the outfit I wore to church last weekend. I am pretty certain I will be wearing some combination of similar pieces every Sunday this spring and summer.
Your Turn
What spring looks are you enjoying? I have decided to make dresses my best friend this spring and wear them more often than once a week on Sunday to church. Hope I will be sharing some more spring dress styles in the near future.
Let’s go check out the other gals spring dresses. I need to hide my wallet so I am not tempted to buy anything more. But I am sure we will all be inspired by the cute things they have put together.

Okay, before I press my luck any further, I am going to giddy up on outta here and put this post to rest. Time to get back to my spring cleaning. Fingers crossed, this publishes when it should.
Have a beautiful weekend. Do something fun!! Make a special memory.
Hugs and kisses,
Gosh, I just love this look Leslie. And I love how you say that you like to wear clothes. It’s funny because we basically HAVE to wear them, and it’s nice when we look nice doing it.
I’m in love with those boots, and the brooches on the jacket are right up my alley.
So glad you’re back with the group this month!!!
XOXO
Jodie

Your dress is really pretty and I know you will enjoy wearing it this summer. I like dresses too and have several but I always pull jeans or slacks out to wear. I need to wear my dresses more! Thanks for hosting the link party.
Once the weather gets warm, I LOVE wearing casual dresses! You look so cute in yours!
Thank you, friend. I need to reach for my dresses more often this summer.
I love your outfit and nearly bought that same dress after seeing Lisa wear hers on her blog too! She really is an influencer over me. LOL
Thank you. Lisa wears dresses so very, very well. I need to start reaching for my casual dresses instead of jeans this summer. They are much more fun.
You always make me chuckle with your first few lines! You are so daggone witty! You look gorgeous and springtime fresh in this dress, Leslie! I love that Knox Rose line so I stay out of Target! I just ordered a new Old Navy denim jacket with the plan to chop off the bottom of it! We will see if I actually have the nerve to do it! I will visit your other post on gardens tomorrow as it is way past midnight!

Thank you!! So glad our closest Target is 20 miles away and across the mountain. Keeps me honest!!
Hope you will post about cutting off your denim jacket at the hem. I have seen a couple of jackets like that in
the stores and it looks really cute. I am sure your alterations will make the jacket even better. Please share!!
What a lovely outfit! That dress is so pretty and looks great with the denim jacket. It always surprises me when I see people in the US wearing boots with summer dresses – that really isn’t a thing over here! I can’t wait to get my summer sandals out and my floaty dresses but the weather forecast is not good, it may be some time.
A denim jacket looks good with so many dresses!
Thank you!! I have 3 – a white, dark denim and light denim. Oh, and a pink. Make that 4!!
We’re twinning today as I wore a denim jacket with my dress too. Such a pretty dress, and I love it with the boots!
Thank you. My boots are surprisingly comfy!! Hallelujah.
Lisa does have some fabulous dresses! This dress looks great on you! Love all the bling on your denim jackets!
Thank you so much!! It felt good to put this together and wear it.
You look lovely and very approachable in that outfit!
Aww, thank you my friend.
Totally love that outfit and the cowboy boots! Hope you have a great day.
Thank you!! I am having fun with my cowboy boots. So glad they are comfy.
Love this outfit. The denim jack with the dress is spot on!
