AGELESS STYLE LINK UP
Again, this year, the Ageless Style Link Up will go live on the third Thursday of the month. For each post, one of the gals in the group selects a theme then all of us put together a look or looks reflecting it. This month’s theme was a unanimous choice by all the gals in the group even though I think a couple of us had to buy something special for the linkup. Our theme for January is the Pantone color of the year...
And this color is everywhere. When I was in Ft. Worth, I pointed out the color to my granddaughter Cadence every time we saw it. Now that we are home, PC and I notice the color in all the stores. But it is a kind of tricky color at the same time. Not exactly blue, not purple. Very peri(winkle) is a color all its own.

Ageless Style 01.2022: Very Peri
After going through my closet, I determined the only periwinkle item I had was a Loft Outlet tee. I tried to create an outfit around it but didn’t like the results. A few months ago, my Ageless Style sister Jodie talked about proportions of outfits; how to avoid having an outfit cut you in two. I have tried to pay more attention to proportions lately and the outfit I tried with my peri tee sliced me in half. So, I decided to treat myself to something new for this post.
French Terry Puff Sleeve Statement Sweater
Not a sweater but not a sweatshirt. This Calvin Klein top can be dressed up or dressed down. The French terry fabric is super soft. Warm but not bulky or heavy. I especially liked the sleeves. Takes the top up a notch from a traditional crew neck sweater.
I paired the sweater with these Old Navy high-waisted embroidered cutwork Rockstar super skinny off-white ankle jeans – now that’s a mouthful.
Added a statement necklace that I bought years ago as part of a Southern belle Halloween costume I put together. Dare I say I wore a Southern belle costume? And some very old grayish-taupe Oxford booties.
Having Photo Fun
Persuaded PC to snap a few photos of the outfit at the Fountains at Farrah shopping center one day after church. It was a happy coincidence that the water in the fountains was also very peri!!
The weather even cooperated. It was breezy but sunny. And warm enough that I didn’t even need a jacket.
Even so, I was sure glad I didn’t wind up going for a swim. That fountain water was icy cold.
I just noticed – even the trash cans in the background ‘understood the assignment’. They look very peri, too!!
This Calvin Klein sweater is on sale now. I am thinking maybe I need the one in the other color option, heather granite. The Old Navy jeans are a steal at less than $15.00 on sale right now. If you are in the market for a comfortable pair of off-white denim, these might fit the bill.
I have subbed 3 days now in Lucia’s kindergarten class. The teacher’s daughter has…yup, you guessed it, Covid. The first day I worked, 8 children were absent in Lucia’s class. Yesterday they were all back but today we had another absence. The school, Lundy Elementary, has risen from 10th to 7th place on the list of El Paso Independent School District campuses with the most cases of the virus. As of this coming Tuesday, masks will be mandatory again in all EPISD schools. Will this ever end?
Subbing for 2 more days this week. Might just wear this outfit tomorrow.

Have you noticed very peri in the all stores and online sites you shop? Is it a color you might try? I have embraced it in a big way. Bought a Banana Republic cashmere sweater on Poshmark in a bluer shade of the periwinkle. And an Under Armour tee, sports bra and pair of sweats all in true periwinkle. Such a soothing color.

As for Covid- I don’t think it will ever end – it’s a virus after all. I think we’ll reach herd immunity and hopefully the fear mongrels will stop scaring everyone to death. My heart breaks for kids who are growing up with this – fear and anxiety are shaping their young lives and this is a virus that continues to have a cure rate of 97 to 99.5%! That’s from the CDC as of 8/21. Rant over, sorry Leslie!!!

LOL, rant away, my friend. I am just exhausted with all of this crazy. My poor grandbabies and I imagine your darling grand-niece know nothing about normalcy. Lucia has worn a mask everyday this year as a kindergartner. So sad. No play dates. No outings to museums, libraries, pizza places, arcades, amusement parks. I really hope we can begin coming to our senses.

What a lovely sweatshirt, that colour really suits you! Love the fullness of the sleeves which makes it a little different to the average style of sweatshirt. Have fun working at the school, you’ll be the best dressed teacher there if you wear that outfit!
I’m shocked that you said you found this color everywhere in the stores because I walked my entire mall and looked in every store and could not find one darn thing in this color. I eventually just gave up and used old photos. I love this top. I see you paired it with white which is my favorite way to style the color periwinkle.

Oh, this covid monster. I’m so very tired of it. I write a piece for our church bulletin each month. This month, I just had to say it…my soul is tired. But, these poor schoolkids…they have had it so bad. Do you realize my seventh grade granddaughter hasn’t had a normal school day since she was in fourth grade? I truly despair for them. And, I’m wondering if I will outlive this monster…sorry for the downer…

Oh Marsha, I am feeling like quite the Debbie downer, too. Your poor 7th grade granddaughter. My sixth grade granddaughter has really had her education impacted, too. Although, last year, fifth grade, was a little better. Poor Cady wears a mask every day. I just don’t know how she does it. And my kinder grand wears a mask all day, too. Bless their hearts.
I should have sat by the fountain!! Never occurred to me. Always worry that PC is just snapping photos without paying attention to whether my hair is standing straight up or my necklace has lassoed a breast. So I work fast. LOL I love you!! Thank you for the compliments to my sweet, slightly reluctant photographer!! He has decided it is much better if he agrees to take a few pictures right off the bat than resist and then give in after I have gotten pouty or grumpy. My new sweatshirt is so comfy but looks a little dressier than the typical sweatshirt. I think it is going to be something I reach for over and over.

I really want your sweatshirt/sweater. I love the color but also that style and texture. I wish I could order things without duties and shipping and……. LOL. I always appreciate your easy going nature and this once again shows me that you love to have fun in life. I went down with COVID this week and bless the sub in my classroom for coming in and taking over. Our school got hit hard and we had 27% of staff out and 12% of students declared they were home “sick” but we had over a 100 of 180 kids not at school. Eeek. Hope you had fun with your granddaughter and all the kiddos. I am sure they loved you!

Oh, baby girl…I am so sorry to read that you have Covid. So glad you have a sub in your classroom. Cannot imagine how the school functioned with 27% of the staff out. And over 50% of the babies home from school for whatever reason, too. Hope you haven’t had a very tough case of this dastardly virus. And home your family doesn’t get sick, too. Very Peri is beautiful. And it looks great on you! I bought a ‘blue’ shirt a couple years ago and now I see that it is Very Peri! It’s covered in lace, I just love it. I recently bought a very peri bracelet to go along with it. I love that color!

I think it’s a beautiful color and looks lovely with your blue eyes! I am hoping covid goes away and soon. We have had a mask mandate since the beginning and there is no end in sight, especially for the kids. Thankfully it has helped keep us healthy so far!
Thank you, sweet friend. I always feel like I am cheating when I wear blue with my blue eyes. I remember my first year teaching here in EP, the kids always asked me if my eyes were my ‘real’ eyes. Used to make me smile.
God bless our babies and this horrible virus. I just hate the way it has imposed itself on their little lives.
