Style sistas, welcome to my fashion haus 10.2020. I think it is finally time to sweep out the cobwebs in order to share a few fall looks with you. Even though cobwebs are quite seasonal right now, we’ll hardly be able to get in the door if I don’t sweep them out first!!
As you probably know because I have harped on it so much on all of my social media outlets, Covid has hit El Paso hard! Because of that, there hasn’t been a lot of point in getting dressed beyond yoga pants or shorts. That is…except for doctor appointments which we have had in great abundance lately.
So this visit to my fashion haus 10.20202 features outfits I’ve worn to the doctor. And to grocery shop and baby sit.

My Fashion Haus 10.2020
My Prince has had 2 nerve-burning ablations on his back this month, and an appointment with the ophthalmologist. Of course, I don’t go with him for every appointment. But he can’t drive after the back procedures so I consider those opportunities to dress up. Ha!! Crazy what Covid has done to my social life.
Ablation Numero Uno
I think I might have worn this outfit to accompany PC for his first ablation of this third round of treatments. It is one of the fall capsule wardrobe formulas. Day 5: DENIM JACKET + CAMO TOP + WHITE BOTTOMS + WHITE SNEAKERS.
My white skinnies (ka-ching, budget-friendly) are from Loft Outlet…how I miss that store. Target camo sweatshirt (ka-ching, budget-friendly) and denim jacket. White converse on my tootsies. Pretty certain I shed my denim jacket (ka-ching, budget-friendly) before heading out the door as we were still having record-breaking afternoon highs.
Been wearing headbands now and then. This is a black one from Target. Very comfortable. Except a mask, a headband and sunglasses is a lot for someone with a smallish head to wear.
Grocery Shopping at the Commissary
A few years ago, I wrote a post about the way I grocery shop. Or used to grocery shop. BC – Before Covid. I still go once a month for a big order, which is another excuse to change out of my yoga pants.
These days, though when I need milk, fresh produce, bread, kitty food, I make an order for pick up at Walmart. Both occasions – pick up and shopping in person – provide a chance to put on something other than tennies. And a chance to corral the ‘girls’ into a real bra rather than a sports bra!! This outfit was Day 14: DENIM JACKET + SOLID TOP + GRAY BOTTOMS + SNAKE PRINT SHOES.
I couldn’t decide which shoes to wear. The booties or the flats. And if the booties, then I wasn’t sure what to do with my jeans as they were slightly long and caught on the tops of the boots. Decided to roll my hem just enough so that a little of ankle peeked out between the two. Problem solved. Still not sure how much I like my booties. They are very pointy. Which makes my feet look that much longer. Gray Old Navy Rockstar jeans (ka-ching, budget-friendly), Old Navy V-neck tunic in rust, Old Navy snakeskin flats (ka-ching, budget-friendly).
Love this pendant gifted me by my lil sis-(in-law) Greta. Rust with veins of gray in a silver wrap.
Baby-Sitting and Doctor Appointment with Lauren
Have to give Lauren credit for putting this outfit together. I had my eye on this Target Universal Thread cardigan (ka-ching, budget-friendly) but she found the cute animal print top that I am wearing with it. Can’t find the top any longer at Target.com, though. You might check your store.
One of the fall trends I like best is sleeve interest on tops and blouses. My animal print top has longish-short puffy sleeves (ka-ching, budget-friendly) that make it a little more special than a standard tee. Getting lots of good wear out of my white denim jeans. So glad we’ve retired that wives’ tale about white pants after Labor Day. This outfit is very similar to Day 17: NEUTRAL CARDIGAN + PRINTED TOP + BOYFRIEND JEANS + TAUPE BOOTIES.
Had Lauren take this close up at her house so you can see 1) how gray my hair is!! 2) the print in this top.
The gray throws me off. I look in the mirror or see a photo and don’t recognize myself. Have thought of coloring it again but don’t really want to start all over with the expense and hassle. Just wish PC would hurry up and get gray, too!!
Blog Writing Outfit
Got dressed to take my girlsies to school then home to work on this blogging post. Wore this camo-cardi-tee look as my interpretation for Day 18: FALL COLOR CARDIGAN + WHITE TEE + OLIVE BOTTOMS + SNAKE PRINT SHOES. My olive bottoms are actually camo denim from Loft Outlet (ka-ching♥, budget-friendly). Sadly, they are no longer available. Seems Loft Outlet has done away with all camo.
Paired the pants with a very old favorite boyfriend cardi from Old Navy (ka-ching, budget-friendly) and a newish graphic tee from H&M (ka-ching, budget-friendly). Threw on Old Navy leopard tennies (ka-ching, budget-friendly) to complete the OOTD.
Not sure what I did, but in the pic below my hair isn’t quite as gray.
Maybe I just slept well!!
Date Night Shine
Before our numbers began sky-rocketing again, we had a date night to our favorite mom and pop Mexican restaurant. A few weeks before, my blogger friend Nancy had featured a Good Buy/Good Bye ‘metallics’ edition on her blog. Bloggers shared their favorite and not-so-favorite metallic pieces. At first I thought, ‘hmmm, I don’t have much metallic.’ But when I started snooping around in my closet, I was surprised at how much I really do have. Kinda went metallic crazy right before Covid started last winter.
Then ordered 2 rose gold metallic tops on clearance mid-summer. For date night, I paired my Loft new rose gold dolman sweater (ka-ching, budget-friendly) with some very old Loft camos. Added some suede ballet flats from Amazon (ka-ching, budget-friendly) to complete the look.
Do you have a pair of pants that lets you know when it is time to push away from the table for a bit? Or, in my case, to start tracking my points again on Weight Watchers? Well, these camos are those pants for me. Gentler than getting on the scale. If they get snug, I know I have really over done it. And they are and I have!!
Hope before long, I can wear my metallics and the faux leather skirts I scored on sale last February at H&M. Going to have to stick to WW for a couple of weeks first, though. And make some more doctor appointments!!
Your Turn
What have you been wearing lately? Are you finding excuses to get dressed each day? Or finding excuses not to get dressed? All of our recent doctor appointments have given me ample opportunity to get dressed. But the eating frenzy I have been on has limited my jeans options. Hoping to reverse that before Thanksgiving!!
Thank you, my fashionista friends, for braving the dust and moth balls to join me for this edition of my fashion haus 10.2020. Will be back tomorrow for Thankful Thursday with Rebecca Jo and on Friday for this month’s Friday Faves. Hope I see you then!!
P.S. Don’t forget…our photo challenge, #25daysofgratitude begins 11.01.2020. Please join Deb and Jennifer and me!! Here are the prompts and a graphic you can use.
We will share our photos daily on Instagram and a compilation of all the photos in a blog post on 11.30.2020. Look forward to seeing what you capture through your lens.
Hugs and kisses,
Joanne
I can’t figure out of my jeans are tight and I have been overdoing it (which I know I kind of have) or if they just feel tight and uncomfortable since I’m not used to wearing them and still not 100% healed. For now I’m sticking with jeggings and leggings. You looked so pretty for date night!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I liked wearing my rose gold.
I have a feeling you are still not completely healed. I think everything fit more snugly until I was completely healed when I had the same surgery. Over here, however, my surgery was in my neck this time…no excuse for my jeans to be tight! Except I can’t move much right now.
Amy Johnson
Well I think you’ve had a lot more opportunities to dress up than I have as you have a lot of great outfits here! All I’ve been wearing is activewear too! I just love every single one of the outfits! You look amazing.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much. I am not comfortable sharing fashion posts but will only get more comfortable if I keep doing it, I guess.
Donna Connolly
Super cute outfits, Leslie. I especially like your denim jacket and the long Old Navy top in rust colour. Beautiful!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much. I need to get dressed this week. Enough of lounging about in yoga pants. I miss my clothes!!
Em
How great that you’re still having fun with clothes! It’s 24/7 casual for me…these days. It’s an event if I do full hair and makeup. Haha. Especially now that it’s getting cold again. Inoculate me already!
I looooove your hair! I want to grow mine out then occasionally get light silver highlights (less grow out). None of my “advisors” are on board yet… I’ll just have to keep pinning until they’re ready.
Sorry to see ElPaso making headlines. Be careful and stay safe my fashionable friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
LOL you are so cute!! Kick your advisors to the curb and d what you like about YOUR hair. I had to do that. One daughter was more on board than the other. I think PC was just shell-shocked that I was okay with gray. But likes knowing I am not spending as much money on color appointments. I like the idea of some silver highlights and might do that to give my hair a little more depth. And shine.
Ugh. Inoculate me, too!! Or put me to sleep until this is over!!
Nancy
Sorry to hear the numbers increase again at your place. Here in the Netherlands it’s crazy, I feel like it’s even worse then in March. Love your camo trousers. And thank you so much for mentioning my blog! November is jeans! So join us Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Need to figure out my Goodbye/Good Buy post. Jeans, huh? Thanks for the reminder.
Kellyann Rohr
I love seeing your fashion posts – you look so good! I dress for every trip to Targett, Walmart, or Publix – ha!! I’ll use any excuse, heck I like to dress just being at home. I’ve tried the headband – love them on everyone – but they don’t seem to work too well on me!
Boy you looked fabulous on your date night! Lucky PC!
xo,
Kellyann
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I feel less than confident sharing fashion posts. But I love wearing pretty clothes. Need to get over myself and just have fun with it.
Deb
We’ve had so many variations in weather recently here I’ve gone from skirts to jeans and t shirts to sweaters on a daily basis! I know exactly what you mean about wearing trousers that let you know when you’ve eaten enough 😉
Great outfits and good to know that almost all of them were’ ka-ching budget-friendly’!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wonder how you are faring with the rigid restrictions put in place for your community? Makes for long days, doesn’t it? We are shutting down everything again as of this evening. No restaurants, there’s a curfew in place, and the county has implemented a stay at home order. Glad we have groceries in. Lauren is coming for dinner but not sure we should even be doing that. Might be the last time we are together for a few weeks.
Dara
I saw El Paso on the news last night and was thinking of you. I like these outfits!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yes, poor old El Paso is ground zero right now with this virus. We are so weary of it all. And no end insight.
Thank you!!
Kimberly F Malkiewicz
I enjoyed seeing your fall fashions. I know what you mean, doctor appointments are about all I got for dressing up these days. I really like your metallic top and camo jeans, so cute!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I like the metallic top, too. Made me feel like a fancy lady.
Patricia Doyle
You are such an inspiration for me not to just toss on a polar-tech pullover and old jeans again… or worse, stay in my yoga clothes all day. I need to find my booties, my moto-jacket, my dark skinny jeans. Maybe tights and a skirt even! It is hard when the only outing is grocery shopping.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
YES YES YES to all of the above. Can’t imagine that I could inspire someone to dress up but so happy I did!! We need to see some pictures of you in that moto-jacket and green skinnies or a skirt and tights!!
Cindi
Leslie, it was so nice seeing your fashion posts. You’ve given me some good ideas. I’ve decided to start dressing up when I go to the grocery. LOL. Other than a doctors office, that’s about all where I go to now. 🙁
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey stranger!! Thank you for coming by. I am taking any and every opportunity to dress up in something other than yoga pants. We’ve been heavy on the doctors appointments, too. Ugh!
April
I followed you on Instagram because this grateful photo a day challenge sounds so fun and refreshing to me!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Woo hoo!! Hope you are doing the photo challenge. It is frustrating that the hashtag isn’t working because IG is suspicious that it might somehow affect the election in the U.S. Just crazy! But I will find you on IG and check out your pictures. Thank you for your interest.
Jill
I’ll dress up just to go to the mailbox at this point! All of these looks are so cute on you! I love that you are wearing your white jeans into fall! Your date night look is so pretty! Love the metallic trend!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Jill.

Hi Leslie!
I know what you mean about going to Doc appts, I have gone to annual exam, gyne, gallbladder and then have a few scheduled for Dec. Hope your hubby is better after te ablations.
Great outfits! I love the dress on you, very pretty and such a neat print! Loving the puff top from Target on you as well. I have some LOFT camos I need to style soon. The rust top with that beautiful stone goes so well with those fancy snakeskin booties. I have a few snakeskin pairs that I love wearing as well.
Have a great day!

Thank you, beautiful friend. I feel silly most days when I try to do a ‘fashion’ or style post. I appreciate your compliments.

I LOVE the grey, but that’s to be expected! I laughed out loud about your signal pants, the ones that let you know when it’s time to get back onto the healthier eating/more movement wagon. I used to have those until they started putting stretch into absolutely everything. Which may be why I love my old Levi’s 501’s. No stretch. Truth telling jeans. 2020 has been a year of hard truths…
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha, truth telling jeans!! Gotta love Levis.
