Hey friends!
Here we are at the end of another month…can you believe it? And it’s been two months since I wrote a Currently post. So let me catch you up on what’s going on in my life…currently.
Working on my bucket list. A couple of weeks ago I blogged about my “Autumn Bucket List”. Pop over to review that post, here. So glad I created this list. Knowing it is here for all the world (or my little corner of it) to see has made me feel more accountable for actually doing these activities. Trying new things, enjoying old favorite experiences.
And then crossing them off as done.
Shopping for items on the Get Your Pretty On (GYPO) fall style challenge shopping list. Such. Fun. Both the shopping for and the participating in the challenge.
What is a GYPO style challenge, you might be asking? Let me explain.
Alison Lumbatis is the creator/editor of Get Your Pretty On and the first of it’s kind online capsule wardrobe membership program – StyleChallenges.com. In the spring of 2014, Alison put together her first style challenge as an accountability partner to chronicle her personal style journey out of the yoga pants mom rut. Fast forward to fall 2016 and the GYPO challenges have helped thousands of women find their own fashion style with the assistance of their own fashion stylist…Alison. She explains the challenges like this:
After registering, you get a shopping list of on-trend fall essentials. You have two weeks to get all of your pieces in place and are free to shop where you want and spend as much or as little as you want. Most women shop their closets first! Then, starting on October 3rd, every day for three weeks you’ll get a new outfit combination created from pieces on your shopping list to style that day. The best part of all is our private Facebook community where we share shopping tips, post our capsule wardrobes and even take selfies of our new style. It’s a huge shopping party and it’s SO much fun!
So, if you would like to join me and lots of other gals our age for this fashion fun, please click here to register through my affiliate link. Registration closes on September 30 and the fun begins on October 3. I will be sharing some of my outfits here and would love to feature YOU and some of your challenge outfits, too.
Dressing up for work. I have been trying to wear some of my dressier clothes to school.
I love dressing up but it is easy for me to become too comfortable in a sub job. And when that happens, I start wearing jeans more than I should. Hope to get some good wear out of my skirts and sweaters this fall.
Coloring my hair. Well, not quite yet. But ordering color online so I can do the dirty job over the weekend. I have been using color I order online. Remember waaaaay back in January, I reviewed hair color from eSalon in this post. Most recently, I have tried color by Madison Reed.
Chose Veneto Light Brown – 7NVA from the Madison Reed site for its cool light brown shade with smoky undertones and promise of coverage on even the most stubborn gray.
Once my hair was dry, the strands of gray looked more like light brown highlights. My hair was shiny and soft. And the color has remained fresh for over two months.
If you haven’t tried the great hair care and color products available through online salons, I recommend you give them a go.
Babysitting for baby Lucia. Writing this post from Albuquerque where I am babysitting for Lucia. Lauren had to travel to Chicago for a week of work-related meetings. And Francisco is working all day at the hospital. Lucia has just begun going to daycare but got sick after her first week. With baby girl’s sniffles and Francisco unpredicatable schedule, Lauren asked if I could come up to take care of lil bit.
The kids treated me to a delicious dinner at El Pinto Mexican restaurant. I had a calabacitas (squash) and pinto bean burrito on corn tortilla. Mouth-watering. Hey, and check out my hair. My Madison-Reed color looks pretty natural even after all these weeks.
This little one has been so good today (knock on wood for the rest of the week). She loves to be upside down.
So when things get a little stressful, I don’t turn Lucia over my knee, I turn her on her head!
This grandma better get her booty to bed before I am back on duty. Hope you will come back to find out who won the lantern swag give-away from Anne’s Adoorables. And maybe consider signing up for the GYPO fall challenge so we can play dress-up together.
What are you up to? Won’t you share in a comment below? Thank you for stopping by.
Hugs and kisses,
Deena
I noticed you had some funky new hair dos or color in your Instagram. What a hip grand-mama!

Thank you! My hair is accidentally shorter than ever but trying to get used to it. Love the idea of being hip! Has never happened before. XO

Thank you, Carrie, for your sweet words. I had to do most of my mothering alone without help just because I lived so very far away. It was tough. I am glad to be able to help Lauren and Brennyn when I can. I want to make a winter bucket list so if you are interested in doing it, too, maybe we can post on the same day? Let me know.

Facetiming with my niece has been my version of stress relief lately! Those little ones are the best! I will look forward to living vicariously through you for the GPYO challenge. I found that finding the pieces was fun but actually wearing the outfits didn’t work for me.

The GYPO challenge sounds like a great idea! And great work outfits!
Enjoy your time with Lucia! How fun that she likes being upside down.

You look like you have such a full and busy life! Love your selfie photos…that dress especially looks amazing on you! What have I been doing…mostly gardening. Trying to re-do gardens that are overgrown and full of weeds. My body is killing me!
