Dear ones,
Despite chilly temps and even snow in places all over the U.S., the calendar says it’s the first day of spring, in the northern hemisphere, at least. And that means it’s time for my 2018 spring bucket list post. Kind of hard to think of gardening and swimming already. I am going to try real hard to do so in order to be in the right frame of mind!
A Little Background
Early this winter, I participated in my friend Mary Clewley’s “Self Care for Women” Facebook group. Mary is the author of many of the Bible study workbooks I have used during my Miracle Morning and devotionals. You can check out her online shop, here. Was honored when Mary asked me to share a little bit about my bucket lists with the self care group. So, I tried something I had never done before (or since). Used Facebook Live to talk about them. I have attached the video from that post below. It explains some of the psychology behind and the importance of having goals, dreams, bucket lists. Which I have never really shared here on my blog.
Now that you know more about why I ‘bucket-list’, you might like taking a look at some of my bucket lists from the past, especially if you are a new reader! My 2018 winter bucket list, 2017 autumn bucket list, 2017 summer bucket list and from this time, last year, 2017 spring bucket list.
Before we get to my 2018 spring bucket list, let’s wind up things from winter.
2018 Winter Bucket List Final Update
After all was said, I didn’t fare too badly on my winter bucket list. There were a few things that didn’t happen first crack out of the box, like taking pictures with my daughters and grands of all five of us when we were together in January. So that was an opportunity missed. But we did have such a good time together, that missing that picture taking opportunity doesn’t seem to matter as much. You can read my earlier winter bucket list posts, here, here, and here.
To review, here’s my list.
- Susie Homemaker – everything under this category has been begun or completed. The cleaning will continue into spring, now that my boot is off and I am more mobile. (YAY!) We transferred our peach wine on PC’s birthday, 02.28.2018. Not holding out much hope that it will be the delicious, fruity, sweetness we were hoping for. But this is the first effort for Bunny Run Winery!
- Family Affair – talked about the photo already. Waaa! Everything else has been accomplished. Looking forward to welcoming my Prince home from Germany in 26 days with a special weekend. Skyping with but also SEEING both grands this spring.
- Crafty Like a Fox – Yes, yes, yes…sure enjoyed all of these activities. Have been taking a painting class at Hobby Lobby and continue to enjoy photography through the 52Frames Photo Challenge.
- Beauty and the Beast – Check my “Tasty Tuesday” posts for the Weight Watchers recipes I’ve prepared this winter. Slowly progressing through Finding Your Balance, which is a very good workbook and guide. Now that the ortho shoe is no more, I can focus on weights, exercise and toning up.
- Writing on the Wall – Big success with scheduling blogs on my agenda, then writing and posting them! Have written my mom often and sent little packages and photographs. Epic fail comes in writing Teachers Pay Teachers lessons. I have moved this to spring.
Here is a little slideshow of photos for the final activities completed since my last winter bucket list update in February.
I had two absolute fails – the picture with my daughters and granddaughters and writing my library lessons plans up for our store. Because of the broken foot business, was unable to lift weights and kind of gave up on tracking my Weight Watcher points. But I am going to allow myself some grace in those areas. Time to move onto spring!
2018 Spring Bucket List
Now, the movement you’ve all been waiting for. The big reveal.
As you can see, there are a couple of carry-overs from winter.
Under Susie Homemaker, I will continue my spring cleaning and plan to have a yard sale to pass along some of the items that no longer bring me joy. Please read my spring cleaning post, here, if this is on your to-do list this season.
Let’s Get Physical has something brand new to me…barre class. So envious of the wonderful progress my friend Andrea at Andrea’s Wellness Notes has made toward toning and becoming more flexible through her barre classes. Want to give that a try.
Brought forward from winter to spring my lesson plan writing activity on Writing on the Wall. Also, need to keep working on my book with some routine, some schedule. And I have some series ideas I hope to try right here on the blog.
In Food for the Heart, I have listed another date hop like we did in the fall. Last baseball season (which, in El Paso, runs from February to October), I didn’t attend that many games. But this year, I want to do better.
Final category, Food for the Soul. I left off this kind of activity from my winter bucket list and I forgot to do things like this. Which demonstrates the value of a having a bucket list. Doubles as a to-do list. Bonus!
Hope you will follow along on my progress on this 2018 spring bucket list. Will post updates on 04.21 and 05.21, so mark those calendars, girls.
Your Turn
What plans do you have for the spring? Is there anything you want to do that you’ve never done before? Please leave me a comment and tell me all about it. You can share your bucket list in a comment or, if you blog, link-up with us below.
I am going to begin writing a new series of posts about the benefit of trying new/exciting/slightly scary things. And will be pushing myself to do new/exciting/slightly scary things in my life. Hope you will join me!
Hugs and kisses,
Em
So fun to see you on video! It makes me feel like I know you better!
You have a great achievable bucket list for Spring! I have stopped doing lists since I broke my knee last summer, haha. (Although, since I am having SOOO many problems with my computer, I have even stopped posting for now…but have lots to write about once I get my “issues” fixed. I guess lugging this beast to the Apple store should be list enough for now.) On the flip, minimal computer time is helping me accomplish my non-listed items 🙂
Hope you’re healing well! Will there be physical therapy to add to your list?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
No physical therapy. Hip hip hooray. At least not yet. Although, the radiologist wasn’t terribly impressed with how I was healing. Ugh. I have a feeling after 50, body parts never are the same, especially after injury. I am so sorry your knee has kept you from making lists. Maybe you could make just an basic list beginning with taking the computer to the store. And then update with us in April on a shiny new post to your blog. Have missed you! Good job on tackling your projects. I need to get back to limited screen time, too.
Any time you might feel an urge to write, let me know! Would love to have you guest post.

Such a fun list. Wishing you lots of luck with meeting your goals for the Spring.
I think my biggest goal this Spring is to deep clean my house. It’s in desperate need – from top to bottom. I want it to have that fresh clean smell, ya know?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Mine, too! I have always done spring cleaning in the SPRING. But last year with the pool construction and woes, it didn’t make sense to clean. This year it has been the foot. But going to get on it starting tomorrow. There’s nothing better than that clean house smell unless it is the way sheets smell after drying on the clothes line. Probably about the same fragrance…clean!!

This is such a well-rounded list. Bravo to you, Leslie. I’m looking forward to hearing about the barre class. Thanks, as always, for pulling this link-up together. The bucket list idea has not only been fun blogging for me, but really made a difference in how many things I accomplish each season. Happy Spring!
Natalie
Hi Leslie – Great to hear that your boot is off and you’re now more mobile, all ready to tackle your Spring bucket list. Thank you for organizing this link up. I look forward to reading your progress updates. Enjoy Spring!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Natalie! Thought of you as I walked…WALKED to the gym and the store yesterday. Too windy for a repeat of the walk today but headed to the gym soon. Bring on spring and all its activities!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I took one Barre class and just loved it and it was really tough. But, the studio is 30 minutes from my house and it is pricey, so I just worry I wouldn’t go enough. I hate to spend an hour one way and back for a workout! I didn’t know y’all had a convertible?! Sweet! I am not sure if I’ll make a Spring bucket list, but I’d like to maybe do a Summer one with the kids home from school.

My barre studio is going to be a 30 minute drive, too. And class will be pricey. And I am not even sure I can do it!! Ha! But want to give it a try.
PC has a Mustang convertible. We put the top down in spring and fall but it is so sunny and hot in the summer that we are afraid to have it down then. Many times on weekend get-aways to the mountains, we will go topless. Ha!!
Come do summer bucket list with us. I would be so honored to have you join…just for the summer, if you like. We will reveal our lists on 06.21. Would love to have you join!!

Your new blog series sounds great. I can’t wait to see what you focus on. Great job with completing most of your winter bucket list. I think I got all but two maybe? Not too bad! Good luck with everything you want to accomplish for the spring. I’m ready for the nicer weather though so I can actually get some of these done – it snowed today. haha I also need to focus on my personal book; I want to publish someday, so I need to figure out how to incorporate fiction writing in my life since I do so much writing for the blog, etc.

We need to dedicate a certain hour of the day, one hour, to writing on our books. Or even 30 minutes. We could blog about that! Ha! But if we treat our book writing like a job, and schedule it for the same time everyday (and I am a fine one to talk!), then maybe it will happen. Want to start with me on Monday?
Lysha
Such a great list! I need to make my Spring Bucket List. Taking the convertible out for date night sounds like so much fun.

Great job on your accomplishments and I love the items on your new list. I’m sure you will do great reaching your goals!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sugar foot! I was proud of my winter bucket list accomplishments. Hope I do as well for spring.

I love how you divide your bucket list into categories and spread out your intentions. I am also totally in awe of the fact that you come up with so many new things to aim for – you are inspirational!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
And YOU are so sweet! Thank you. I love trying to think of new things to do each season. And my Prince Charming is so good to humor me and go along for the ride. Have found that writing these activities and good intentions down makes them more likely to happen. Would love to have you join us.

I love, love, love the video!!! You have to do more videos! And you have inspired me to get back to doing a bucket list. The point that bucket lists can get too long and overwhelming resonated with me a lot, and I like your reminder that it’s okay to let go of some on it and/or rethink it. After all, they are supposed to enrich our lives, not stress us out…
And how great that I made it in this post! Thanks for the shout out! Barre classes have truly been a life changer for me. My only advice would be to listen to your foot and only do what feels good…
I hope spring and your spring bucket list items are off to a good start!

Thank you so much, lady bug! Have been at a conference for a week and away from my regular blog-reading and commenting schedule so late replying to comments.
The video! Ugh, the video!! I had planned to try to do a video at the beginning of each month but I am so shy that it hasn’t happened. Thinking now, that maybe I will try it as part of my stepping outside my comfort zone series. Thank you for your support and encouragement and for watching. Hope you will do the bucket lists again and make your list comfortable and stress free. (I need to remember that, too!)
So anxious to try a barre class, if that is all I do. You have done so well with barre. And I am inspired by you. XO

Good luck with achieving your goals. Thanks for sharing with us. Pinned.

Aww, I loved hearing your voice! As usual, you have an awesome looking bucket list (makes sense since you are the queen of bucket lists). I’ll also be having a garage sale sometime this season. I should have put that on my list!
