Hello dollies!
Time for the first update on the “18 activities on my spring bucket list”. And guess what? I haven’t been home enough to get anything done! Not much here to report, girls. But isn’t my graphic pretty?
Of all the series I participate in, the bucket list posts have been my baby. Kind of my pet project. And here I am, ‘leading’ the way or heading off this series with nothing to share. That’s why this post is going live a little later than the posts of some of the other gals joining the link-up today. Because I have high hopes that we can do something, something, something on my list real quick so I can write about it here.
Let’s review those 18 activities, shall we?
2018 Spring Bucket List
Can you say, ‘ah-oh!’? With one month down, and not much progress made, I have my work cut out for me.
Update 04.2018
Let’s not panic quite yet. There are two more months before the first day of summer, and the reveal of that season’s list. Which could look real familiar if I don’t get busy here.
Crafty Like a Fox
Yeah, not so much, yet. Yet. Did paint my cactus rock garden for a Pinterventures pinspiration pinspired (how many ways can I say it?) “DIM: Did It Myself” post, here.
Sketch and use watercolor pencils. Pending.
Finish painting at Hobby Lobby. Pending.
Susie Homemaker
Spring cleaning. I started! Did the upstairs guest bedroom and the linen closet. Purged my closet, too. But have to be home to get this project finished. How ’bout these empty hangers? Huh, huh? And then I cleaned the guest bedroom master with baking soda, essential oil and the vacuum. Probably mostly the vacuum.
Clean carpets. Pending. Have to finish spring cleaning first. See above.
Yard sale. Pending. Had set our alarm to get up and have one today. Which is part of why this post is late. But we turned off the alarm and went back to bed. Will donate everything tomorrow we planned to sell today.
Let’s Get Physical
Hike and picnic. Pending. My favorite hike and picnicking partner has just returned home from 6 weeks overseas. Yes, without me.
Take a barre class. Pending. Waiting for broken foot to heal. I think it is about as good as it is going to get.
Begin swimming 3X a week. Pending. Pool water is up to 70*. See me in a couple more weeks.
Writing on the Wall
Finish writing the first half of my book (or five chapters), whichever comes first. Pending.
Create a warm weather series for my blog. Not sure why I added ‘warm weather’ because the series I created could be all weather. And hopefully will be. “Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone”. Check it out, here.
Write 3 lessons for our Teachers Pay Teachers store. Pending. Working on a lesson about the elements of drama now.
Food for the Heart
Take the convertible out for a date hop night. Pending. Good thing, huh? PC might not like it if this activity was marked ‘done’.
Cheer PC on at his baseball games. This was hard because PC hasn’t been here to go to his games. Went to the first game of the season – both of us – back in February. And then the game today, both of which they won! But the El Paso Yankees haven’t won any of the games in between. Hoping things look up now.
Attend a play or a special activity. Pending.
Food for the Soul
Pay it Forward. Pending.
Volunteer. Pending.
Donate items. Pending. But just until tomorrow. All those items earmarked and set aside for the yard sale that didn’t happen today are going to be donated tomorrow.
I think it is safe to say I have plenty to keep me busy and off the streets the rest of the spring. And will get started this coming week, now that life has returned to our crazy normal.
Your Turn
How are you doing on your spring activities? Have you sailed through spring cleaning? Would love to hear about your progress in a comment below. And if you have a related blog post to share, please link-up with us.
Then join me in paying a visit the blogs of my fellow spring bucket listers. I am heading their way now, let’s go together.
Thank you for cheering me on for this spring bucket list, 04.2018 update.
Hugs and kisses,
Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond
It is easy to make our bucket list Leslie but sometimes life gets in the way. I enjoyed reading your list again and I might steal a couple to try. I didn’t know you were writing a book? I’d love to know more. I’m considering turning my AtoZ Guide to Thriving in Life into a book and extending each chapter. Not sure if it is good enough though so would love your feedback.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Sue!! Absolutely. I think you could easily expand each idea and turn these posts into a book. I would make each chapter short and sweet, just a few pages. Love that idea!!!
The children’s book idea I have been writing on is about an unlikely hero. The main character has changed demographics a couple of times but the idea has remained more or less the same. I have had a very crazy adult life, though, and have been told hundreds of times that I should write a book about all the crazy. I think I may have waited too late because I don’t remember it all!!! My 91 year old mom and my girls remember better than I do. Maybe we should all write it together.
Nancy Baten
Have a great Sunday!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! Nancy, would love to have you join us for the bucket list posts. You can make them your own by making your activities fashion related. For this link-up we ask that the posts be bucket list related. Please join us!!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
What are you writing a book about? Would love to know. I loved your painted rocks craft! I need to add cleaning the carpets to my list, I’d love to get a carpet shampooer. I used to have one and was really good about using it, but it broke… several years ago! Thankfully the kids are a little older now, so our carpet isn’t too bad. But, I like the extra cleaning that a shampooer does to it! We haven’t been able to do a lot of Spring activities here, because the weather has been cold still!

Thank you, Carrie. I want to paint some to set out in the garden and a few to share about my neighborhood. Would love to do this project with my 7 year-old granddaughter Cady. It would be a fun activity for a Girl Scout Troop, too!
I had a shampooer for a long time, too. I think it probably over-soaked my carpets but I felt like at least my carpets were clean!! Wet, but clean. Can’t decided whether to buy my own or just pay to have it done now and then. But with pets, I like having them cleaned somewhat regularly.
The book I am writing S L O W L Y is about a little girl who is an unlikely hero. But she has changed a couple of times over the few years that I have been thinking about and working on this story. But the plot has stayed the same. I was telling Sue in a reply to her comment that I have had a very crazy adult life. Lots of bizarre experiences. People are always telling me I should write a book about the crazy. But I am beginning to forget some of it! Wish I had started earlier. Maybe I could still do it with my girls’ help and my mom’s – her memory is like an elephant’s!!
Gail
Don’t feel too bad about not doing many of the activities. You did have a bad foot and you were away a lot of the time. I’m always in awe at all the creative and fun things you do!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Gail!! I am glad that some of the stuff I get into over here can be inspiring! Thankful that my foot is much better so I can get back to doing all the things I love doing best. Hope you will return to check out my progress next time we post in May.
Danielle
I’m in the same place. Haven’t accomplished much on my list. I would say you are well underway. I should start spring cleaning today but I’m going to go outside and enjoy some sunshine first.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
The spring cleaning begins (again) tomorrow. Got to get going. It is becoming a joke with PC. He doesn’t think I will ever get to it. Now I have to make it happen for sure.
Glad you had some sunshine to enjoy. We went on a bike ride. It was glorious!!
Juhlin Newkirk
You have lots of things to look forward to the rest of Spring! I too would like to know what you are writing a book about.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Going to hit the bucket list activities hard the rest of this month. Starting with spring cleaning tomorrow. Here we go!!
I am writing a book about a little girl who is an unlikely hero. But have been told most of my adult life that I should write about all of the crazy experiences I have had. Really have had a ride! But I am beginning to forget all the stories. My 91 year old mom reminds me of some of the adventures and my daughters can remember a lot of the crazy, too. Maybe I should make that a team effort and get that book written.
Cindi
Leslie, you certainly have a lot of things planned. Good for you!
We’re in the middle of updating our home, yard and installing a permanent power generator. We’ve started on everything except the yard. We need help for that one! But in the interim, we’ll do the best we can. Lots of trees came down over the winter. Ugh.
Keep up the good work!
(hope your foot heals soon enough)
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so proud of all you have done yourselves to update your home. Curiously, when I married my PC, we each went from smaller homes to a larger home together. We had two children, one each, living at home at that time so needed those extra rooms/space. Now, ten years later, we are empty nesters and have more than plenty of room. When the kids come for a visit, the house fills up, but we rattle around in here when it’s just us.
Thanks for stopping by to cheer me on!
Whitney @ Whitney à la mode
Yep, no need to panic. I’ve barely done any of mine either! But it really only started to feel like spring yesterday so I’m giving myself a little break.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, Whitney. I think we may need to vote to move the first day of summer back a few weeks in order to enjoy spring a little longer since it took its sweet time getting here!!
Christie Hawkes
Thanks for overseeing this bucket list linkup, Leslie. I love it! I also love that you chose sleep over a yard sale. We all need to listen to our bodies more often. Donating is a good thing. If you feel guilty, just imagine your donated belongings making their way to someone who really needs them. 🙂 Good luck with the rest of your list over the next two months. Happy spring!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so glad you love the bucket list series, Christie. And so happy to have you join us.
You are right about listening to our bodies when we are tired or sleepy or not feeling our usual 110%. The hassle of having a yard sale is just not worth the pittance we make from selling our things. Love your outlook about thinking how our donations make really help someone. Great way to turn that around. Thank you!!
Natalie
Thanks, Leslie, for organizing this link up. It takes time to sort things out to donate so you’ve done very well. Plus donating is good for the environment and for those who need the items. Enjoy spring and take it easy on your foot! I look forward to reading your upcoming Step Out of the Comfort Zone post.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Natalie, for your continued support. You are right about donating being good for the environment. We had several pieces of electronics that were good as new but we no longer need. I hate seeing things like that lugged to the landfill. Hopefully we provided our items a second chance at life with a new family.
SARITA
Writing a book!! Yay, you!! I totally want to do a barre class as well.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Your sweet comment prompted me to get on the computer and inquiry about taking a barre class this week. I need to quit saying I want to do and just go do it!! I am bad about that. So, stay tuned and I hope I will be able to let you know how it went very soon!
Michael Ann
You have some no-joke goals, girly! Good for you! I hope you enjoy working through your list over the next couple of months. I’m thankful for this link-up because it reminds me to check my list! LOL!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Me, too!! I have been printing my lists lately and tacking them to the frig so I can remember what we should try on weekends when we are at a loss for what to do. Need to print this one! Thanks for joining us.
Laura
Your yardsale comment made me laugh! I donate everything because I just don’t have the time and energy for a yardsale! These are all great activities!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, yard sales aren’t what they are cracked up to be. You put all that stuff out there and want to make a few hundred bucks and wind up with $18 and still have all of your stuff.
ShootingStarsMag
It’s okay – I’ve only gotten a couple things done, and I still need to actually take photos. LOL We have plenty of time left. 🙂

Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay for accomplishments on your spring bucket list. I am not setting any fires over here. Hope by time for May’s update, I will have something to report.
Dara
I am also still working on my bucket list. We didn’t get to do a lot of things during spring break that we’d wanted to because it was still too cold!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Looking forward to reading about your bucket list progress when we post an update again in May. I have done a few things over the past week. And have a few more activities on the horizon. Hope warmer temps have come to your corner of the world.
