Hello, Dollies!
Linking up with Jen at The Bolin Bunch for another 10 on the 10th. Talking today about 10 things we want to try or do. Or vice versa, according to the graphic! Some of these things are on my summer bucket list and in the works already. Partially because my bucket list inspired me to get started on them and partially because this prompt encouraged me to pull the trigger. Others are big dreams. The traveling, especially.
Have a look.
10 Things I Want To Do
Be Bold
- Design and wear a temporary tattoo: another summer bucket list activity. Just designed and ordered from Momentary Ink. Stay tuned!
- Wear false eyelashes again: wore them for my pin-up photo shoot experience and LIKED them. Now to get some more glue and maybe some slightly more subtle lashes to try.
- Grow my hair natural: this activity is on my summer bucket list and underway. I do realize it won’t happen overnight or even over the summer. But I am working on it. Have been adding pins to my Health, Wealthness, Beauty and the Beast Pinterest board with suggestions on how best to do this. Going to try an Expresso glaze from Madison Reed to darken my highlights without coloring my grays, working back to my natural dark brown.

Get Physical
- iFLY: this indoor skydiving venue just opened (and promptly went into foreclosure – how does that even happen?) here in El Paso. Wish they would have a sale on ticket prices so we could try it out.
- Train for triathlon: not sure I can compete, but I can train! The Eagle in the Sun Triathlon is 09.01.2019 and the Mighty Mujer Triathlon is in the spring of 2020. Working on upping the length of my bike rides. Have the 5k run down. Now to build back up to swimming 400 meters or 1312 feet in our 30′ pool. May not participate in either but hope to be able to complete all 3 events on my own.

Travel the Friendly Skies
- Another beach vacation with family: ideally, somewhere truly tropical but I would gladly do one back at Pointe West in Galveston.
- Disney World with PC, the daughters, the SILs and the grands: Lauren is pregnant and due in January so this next summer might not be the year, but maybe by the time new baby is 2 or 3, we can all go.
- Visit England, Scotland and Ireland with PC: Ancestry.com says we are both primarily from the British Isles so I would like to explore the homelands of our forefathers and mothers.

- Write and publish that book: Have about 3 stories going. One is probably 3/4ths of the way complete. Another is just started. And a third, a picture book idea, is started and going to be quick to finish.
Celebrate Our Anniversary
- Plan and enjoy a backwards date: in the works. Won’t say anything more.
Your Turn
I just finished – can you believe it? – the book It’s Never Too Late To Begin Again by Julia Cameron. Have been writing Morning Pages throughout the past 6-7 months (ok, I checked…almost a year) that I have been reading the book. Maybe longer than that. Such an enjoyable, helpful practice. One of the last exercises readers were asked to do was to write 20 statements beginning with “I wish…” This post, my bucket lists and now my compilation of wishes have a number of commonalities. Do any of my 10 things I want to do appeal to you? What would be on your list of wishes?
Going to get back to my spring cleaning. Yeah, I know, it’s summer. That’s why I need to get back to it. Ha!! Maybe a dip in the pool afterward. Thank you for ‘listening’ today as I daydream about 10 things I want to do. Back to life!
Hugs and kisses,

What a great list! Hope you get to go to Disney with your family sometime. We just love that place! Hope we have some grandkids one day to share that experience with.
I am sure you will have grandbabies before long. They are certainly treasures. Really a different relationship from the one you have with your own child. Hope we can plan a trip to take all the grands to Disney in a few years. My last grand will be born in January. We probably need to wait until she is at least 3 before we try to go. I probably need that long or longer to try to raise money to go!!
This is such a great post idea! False eyelashes look so pretty on you and you should definitely wear them more often! You are so brave to try indoor skydiving and it’s great that you are training for a triathlon!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Bought some new, more natural (and very cheap) false eyelashes at Target. Will be excited to give them a try. Thank you! I felt like a fancy lady wearing them for the first time.
You’re part British? I knew we had a connection 😉
So impressed with you for training for that triathlon – even if you don’t actually join in the event, you’ll still know you would be able to do it if you wanted to.
My friend Dani is now a published author – took her until she was 56 to be ‘discovered’ but she’s now had 5 books published. Check her out here https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=dani+atkins&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Do you know how she got herself published? She self published on Amazon, loads of people downloaded her book and the book publishers started approaching her. Hard to believe that the person I spent years working beside in the school office is now a published author! So keep trying and don’t give up.
I will check out your friend Dani. What an inspirational story about how she was discovered on Amazon!! Thank you for sharing.
Apparently I am like 93% British. And yet I always want to spell British with 2 Ts. Need to work on that. All the time I was growing up and even when my daughters were growing up, I thought I was German and French! Ha! Ancestry.com says differently.
I did a sprint triathlon when I turned 40 and it was fun! Of course I had to learn to swim to do it but I survived. That was the most challenging part because I trained in a pool but the 1/2 mile swim was in a lake! It’s a great feeling when it’s over and the training burns tons of calories!
xo,
Kellyann
Can’t imagine swimming in a lake for the triathlon. Seems that would make a huge difference. I can swim for some distance if I can do it at my own speed and on my back, side, my ugly breast stroke, my ugly freestyle. But I am not a good, proper swimmer!! Would LOVE to use my snorkel and they said I could!! So proud of you to have done a sprint triathlon. You are amazing.
Can’t wait to see your temp tat! Going natural with my hair was so liberating! It feels so soft and healthy now without all that dye in it and no more trips to the salon every 5-6 weeks for hi-lights and low-lights, now just have to go when it needs trimmed. I don’t want to skydive inside or outside but good luck and have fun! We’ve taken the grandbabies to do such and they loved it! Wishing you success with the triathlon. What are your 3 books about? I’d definitely buy them 🙂
I cannot wait to be liberated from color and expensive treatments. I can’t afford it, have never been big on styling my hair, as is obvious from my blog!! So I am looking forward to being FREE!!
Awww, thank you for saying you would buy my books. One is about a little Afghani girl who saves the day at school, one is about my daughters and another is about my granddaughter’s expression ‘cuddles lil bitsy’. Need to finish one of them!!!
Yes, you do, at least one of them 🙂
Thank you!!
My son has done iFly twice but I have no desire! This is a great list of ideas!
I just want to try iFly to say I did. Ha!!
There’s finally an indoor skydiving place not too far from me, and I really want to try it out! I’d never do ACTUAL skydiving, but I think indoor would be fun. I’m so curious about this temporary tattoo now – I have to check out the website. I’ve had henna on my hands before and that was really cool! It looks awesome. 🙂
I’d also like to write and publish a book. I’ve written a book before, but I’m out of the groove of writing and I need to get back into it since I’ve started one book and I have other ideas that I’d like to eventually get to! haha
I’d love to go back to Disney World. I want to check out Harry Potter Land (as I call it haha). I’ve been to Disney once, but it was a long time ago.
-Lauren
Oh, Lauren, you have to save your pennies and plan a trip to Harry Potterland!! My granddaughter just loved it. She sent me a photo of her wand picking her. It was such a great memory making activity. One she will never forget.
I am out of the writing habit right now. My schedule is upside down again. If I don’t write in the morning, it is not going to happen. You might write up a quick outline of your new story ideas so you have the ideas down. That has helped me.
I don’t think I would ever do a permanent tattoo but I really loved henna on my hands, too. So feminine and pretty. Like wearable art. Momentary Ink does a great job. And you can have a custom temp tatt!!
Hi Leslie,
I have been in the process of growing out my hair for about 2 years. I get regular trims and shape ups but I am enjoying being able to pull it back this summer. Hope you get to post the tattoo when you get it!
Anne
I really like your hair, Anne. You have ‘good’ hair. I guess I am going to continue to wear my a bit longer to keep the fam happy. And I like having it in a clip or a teensy braid, myself. So fair the growing out of the grays is going well enough. I am sure when the gray gets 3-4 inches long, I will begin to worry!!
Ohhh I wanna start racing again. I mean, I wasn’t fast, but the sense of accomplishment once it’s over is incredible. I need to design a tattoo. I have a real one, but I want another one but I don’t know where… Hmmm…
I highly recommend Momentary Ink if you want to ‘try out’ a tattoo design and location. They create custom temp tatts that are affordable. Then you could play around before committing to a new design and location.
I am pretty certain that a triathlon is out but I do think I can get to where I can do each of the legs of a triathlon successfully. Maybe not all in one day, though!!
I enjoyed reading your list, Leslie. I recognize some of these things from your bucket list. You’re doing some fun things, and I’m eager to read the updates. It was interesting to see your ancestry as well. I’m 66.9% British Isles (United Kingdom and Ireland) and 11% French and German. I’ve been to France, but I’d love to see England, Ireland, and Germany. Looks like I’ve got some traveling to do!
Oh, we have similar ancestry. I have been to France and Germany but turns out I am not really either. So now need to get to the British Isles…most interested in Ireland. My daughters are half Panamanian and I would like to travel back to Panama just once with them and their children before my traveling days are behind me.
Hey Leslie,
I did the lash extensions for a while, then I found the Rodan and Fields “Lash Boost”…it’s a little pricey, but a tube lasts me 6 months, which is far cheaper than repairing extensions every few weeks. And it really does work!
I have never tried lash extensions, just these little false eyelashes from the discount store. My daughter wore lash extensions and they were quite dramatic. I just want a subtle look. I have heard good things about Lash Boost. If my ship comes in, I would like to try it. Thanks for sharing.
These are some great ideas! I’ve been skydiving before but my bff hasn’t and won’t, so I’m trying to talk her into doing iFly with me! I did this today, but The Bolin Bunch no longer hosts it. In the future it will be hosted by Whitney at http://www.theperfectlyimperfectmama.com/2019/07/10-on-10th-july.html!
Thank you, Dani, for the heads up about the changing of the guard for the 10 on the 10th posts. First it was Erin at Taz and Belly, then Jen and now Whitney. I think if someone doesn’t pick it up and host it forever, I am going to!! I love it!
I think iFly would be a less terrifying version of skydiving…congrats for being brave enough to do the real thing. I can’t imagine anyone being able to coax me to take that first step out of a plane!
