Sweet friends, it’s 04.10…so, it’s time for another installment of 10 on the 10th. Today we’re sharing 10 favorite quotes, Bible verses and songs. This is the 3rd edition of 10 on the 10th I have hosted. So glad you stopped by!
In February, we shared 10 lovable things our significant other. You can learn more about my PC in that post, here. Then in March, we responded to 10 questions all about spring. Find my answers, here. I am alternating the themes between Q&As one month, and a set theme the next.
Following that pattern, May’s 10 on the 10th post will be questions all about motherhood. I will share the questions right here around the first of the month so you guys can ponder them a bit before preparing your post.
So, let’s get back to today’s theme: 10 favorite quotes, Bible verses and songs. And away we go!
10 Favorite Quotes, Bible Verses and Songs
When I came up with this theme, I had a few favorite quotes, verses and songs already in mind. For me, these favorites have been constants in my life.
When I was in kinder, the nursery rhyme “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” was at the top of my hit parade. I sang it as a young mom. And then sang again as a librarian to help teach the water cycle. Even now it still has a special spot in my life. At least it does when I am singing it with a granddaughter.
My favorite quotes and Bible verses have also transcended the many chapters of my life. So here they are, my favorites right now, and probably forever.
Favorite Quotes

I often equate giving with opening my purse strings or bank account, using Venmo or PayPal to give. But I think some of the best giving doesn’t cost a single cent.
And this quote by Anne Frank. It is probably my favoritest. Yes, favoritest. Because it is so true.

Picking up that piece of trash on the walking path at the park. Securing a neighbor’s trash can that has blown from the curb into the street. Opening a door for someone. A smile that says we are all in this together.
Favorite Bible Verses
If we have been blog buds for any length of time, you know that I was raised without any religious training. So, I have no Bible verses committed to memory from childhood days of Sunday school or VBS. But I do know the gist of the Bible verses that speak to me most. And I can use Biblegateway.com to find them quickly. Maybe I should memorize them word for word?
But I don’t think God is concerned that I be able to quote them verbatim. I think He is just glad I’ve come to know Him.

Carly Simon’s “Coming Around Again.”
Pretty sure this would be the theme song to my life. Nothing terribly prophetic. But the last verse is “I do believe in love.” And I do believe in love.

Two Versions of the Song
There are 2 versions that I am familiar with. The one below is just “Coming Around Again.”
But coincidentally – except you know how I feel about coincidences (there are none…it’s just part of the plan), the version I like best incorporates the nursery rhyme, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Here is that version.

I am kind of weepy mess this morning. Started with a phone call at 8:00 am about my mom. And listening to Carly sing my favorite song has made me nostalgic. Time to get started on my day and set my emotions aside.

Funny how things change slightly as you come across the Atlantic – over here the nursery rhyme is ‘Incy Wincy Spider’!
I know how anxious you are about your mum and I hope that she is coping ok with all the changes going on at the moment, she must be so confused.
You know, we learned the nursery rhyme to be “Teensy Weensy Spider.” And then when I started working as an elementary school librarian, the kinder teachers all said Itsy Bitsy so I adopted that. Wonder if your words for the rest of the rhyme are the same?
Mom sounds much better the last couple of days and I am feeling encouraged. Thank you.

I love your quotes. I have often thought about the Benjamin Franklin one, especially when I was a teacher. The Maya Angelou quote is wonderful too.
I think the best teachers give their students hands-on learning experiences. I could never have been a college or academic librarian/teacher. For one, I hug too much, but I also like to move around, using my hands and dance, and speak in foreign accents. I was all over the place. But somehow it seemed to help my bilingual students understand what I was saying a little better.
these are all good quotes, scriptures, and song verses. The ones that stand out to me the most, as I was reading your post, was the one by Maya Angelou and the one about giving. I’m with you. Most of the time giving, to me, means giving money. But that’s not always true. Sometimes it just means giving of ourselves. Being selfless. This was a great 10 on the 10th!
