Hi Friends,
We are only half-way through this second full week of January but I have been a busy girl. I’ve tried to remember to snap a quick picture of my outfits for the What Wives Wear link-up with Carrie at Curly Crafty Mom and Sherri at God Life Happy Wife . I have also printed the outfits of the day from all of the Style Me Pretty fashion challenges with Alison Lumbatis at Get Your Pretty On, and keep them in a notebook in my closet for reference. Several times this week I pulled out the notebook to help me put together the outfits below. Having these What Wives Wear posts are helpful, too, so that when I can’t figure out what this wife should wear, I have a kind of photo-journal of past outfits to style again. And I try to remember to pin my outfits on a Pinterest board called What I Wore Today and Where I Bought It. You can follow that board here.
So here are some of the outfits I have been sporting this week.
Outfit numero uno is what I wore to substitute teach half a day for a rambunctious class of second graders. In teaching the little ones about the suffix ‘-or’ which creates a word that means: a person who…, I gave the example that I am a person who collects shoes. A shoe collector, if you will. Several of the little girls commented on my shoes and earrings and a third little girl told me I was pretty. Those sweet words just made my day. My printed pants are Loft, cardigan is old Kohl’s, white button up blouse from Old Navy, Charming Charlie’s statement earrings. My Payless furry leopard shoes and fishnet knee-highs complete the look.
My second outfit is one I wore to a matinee movie on Sunday. I may still be suffering with the occasional hot flash but you can be certain I will always be cold at the theater. I bet Carmike and Cinemark could slash concession prices if they would just crank up the thermostat on their seemingly year-round air conditioning. I always get extra napkins to use as “blankies” when the AC gets to be too much. (Don’t let it get around, but Paul uses those “blankies” at times, too). In an attempt to dress warmly, I am snuggled into my Loft jeans, Dress Barn, cowl neck, tunic sweater, Old Navy puffer vest, and my super comfy faux UGGs from Payless. We went to see “Wild”, starring Reese Witherspoon. Maybe I will do a quick review of the movie, too. Check for that under Title Talk.
I wore the third outfit yesterday to my counselor’s appointment and to run a few errands. I hesitated a second before admitting here that I go to a counselor. Sadly, there is such a public stigma associated with counseling and therapy that often those who are in need of help are the most reluctant to get it. I think I will talk about this at some length in a coming post. For now let me suffice it to say I have had a pretty crazy life and going to see my counselor Kathy once in awhile for a check-up keeps me healthier and happier. Besides, Kathy is one of my staunchest supporters…and she loved this outfit. Loft modern skinny jeans, Loft Outlet cream cable knit sweater, Old Navy flannel shirt, Kohl’s mid-calf black boots, Charming Chuck’s earrings.
The last outfit of this post was another substitute teaching look – this time subbing in an elementary art classroom all day. My clever sister Valerie complimented me on the colors of my personal palette on this day. And my mother would brag on my bargain shopping if she knew that I bought this great embellished Fair Isle sweater for $15.00 at Limited.com! It is light-weight and perfect for El Paso’s temperate winter weather. I paired it with an Old Navy blouse (in a tiny bicycle print), Loft straight khakis, DSW strappy Mary Janes (my honey hubster picked out), and crystal earrings from Charming Charlie’s. I am still carrying my Miche burgundy bag but need to switch it out for a change. It just seems to perfectly accentuate everything I wear!
Please be sure to check out what some of the other wives are wearing out there in blogger land by visiting Carrie and Sherri’s blogs. If you have a What Wives Wear outfit you would like to share, think about linking up with us. I would love to see your look!
Hugs and sticky kisses,
Sharon

Lol, you made me laugh when you said… ‘but I will always be cold at the theater’ – how true IS that!! And, how sweet that one of the second graders told you how pretty you were! I think the second outfit is my fave, but I just love vests right now…the third outfit I really love a lot, too! You were quite a stylish wife this week! 🙂

Thank you, Carrie, for coming by. I am loving vests, too, and have a new furry one from Target that I am dying to wear. Maybe this week. If I don’t do it soon, it will be spring in El Paso and too warm for fur.

You always look so lovely, and your smile makes me happy! I like the idea of a “what I wore today” Pinterest board. I’ve been trying to take a picture of my outfit every day and putting it on the Style Me Facebook page – maybe I’ll try something on Pinterest too. Have a great weekend!

I have the What I Wore board mostly to remind me of outfits I liked! I am so feeble-minded these days. I also have a Thank you, Pinterest board to remind me of things I have tried successfully from Pinterest. It is a shame to get old and forgetful! Thank you for stopping by, sweet one.
