Hi Dolls!
Not only is this another Style Me Bloggers link-up but it’s also the final Style Me Bloggers link-up
EVER.
Our swan song. Our fond farewell.
And that’s a looooong time.
But before you run for the Kleenex, I hope you can take comfort in knowing that the gals and I are embarking (I feel like Christopher Columbus or Cristobal Colon, as we call him here) on a new adventure. I don’t want to say too much yet but I think our latest endeavor will offer something for everyone. Stay tuned.
Now, on to today’s prompt…What inspires me?
As PC would say, this is toughy tough-tough. I can think of about a 900 people WHO inspire me, who encourage me to be my best and try my best. Who have helped me along this journey called life.
But trying to determine what inspires me was harder.
I decided to take some online quizzes to help me find that answer.
The first quiz I took, What Inspires You?, was at TestQ. You can take the quiz, too, by clicking here. But if you do, you have to share your results in a comment below. Promise?
Apparently the folks over at TestQ know me better than I know myself because I would never have been able to figure this out on my own but it feels pretty accurate.
I am a helper. Helping others inspires me.
[source]
I don’t want to mislead you that I am this incredibly generous philanthropist, or do-gooder, or Red Cross volunteer but when I am able to do something small that might help someone, I feel inspired to do more and to try to be a better person.
Here’s what TestQ said about me:
Helping People
Not everyone has the compassion and generosity to look out for the greater good. Lucky for all of us, there are kindhearted people like you who make a real difference in this world. You’re probably the first to step up and lend a helping hand whenever you can whether it’s organizing a book drive for the library, serving dinner at a soup kitchen, or giving an elderly neighbor a ride to the doctor.
Chances are, you’re also driven by your ideals and want to really make a difference in the work that you do. But that doesn’t mean you’re unrealistic. You know that Rome wasn’t built in a day and that it takes years — and even decades — to make changes in the fabric of society. Until poverty, illiteracy, and a plethora of other ills are no more, you’ll do what you can to help out and make life better wherever and however you can.
Since the results from that test were so positive and uplifting, inspirational, if you will, I asked myself, why stop there? And I proceeded to find another test to take to help identify what inspires me.
Enter test number 2,What Are You Inspired By? from PlayBuzz.
Yes, you can take it, too, click here, but please share your results.
I showed you mine, you show me yours.
You are inspired by Historical Events!
When something major happens in today’s society or has made a lasting impression in our past, you like to soak it in thoroughly, therefore remembering these occurrences for the rest of your life. These events can range from a variety of circumstances; it could be something as politically severe as MLK’s “I Have a Dream” Speech, or something heart-warming like the Wedding of Prince William & Kate Middleton. Watching history unfold or studying the implication of previously recorded events has a profound impact on who you are, what you believe and your personal inspiration. This inspiration propels you into a world where you believe that one person can make a difference, helping you achieve an activist or humanitarian perspective in your every-day life. Today’s actions are tomorrow’s effects, and you want to be a part of anything that causes positive change and not negative consequence.
I think the fact that I chose the Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and the tearing down of the Berlin Wall as answers for this quiz probably influenced my results.
On a roll, why stop now?
But this is where I pressed my luck. I looked for another quiz to take.
My third and final quiz was undoubtedly written by a ‘tween as evidenced in all of the punctuation mark happy faces, exclamation points (I do like an exclamation point, myself, now and then!!), and a question about my secret crush with answers like One Direction and Justin Bieber.
Neither.
Here’s the link for this little cutie, What Quote Would Inspire You Most?, click here.
And the results complete with punctuation emoticon…
Endure 😀
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” – Michael Jordan
To summarize, I am apparently inspired by an opportunity to help someone or make a difference, by the lessons we can learn through history, and by tackling obstacles (such as tall basketball players) in my path.
Coincidentally, or not so much since there really are no coincidences in this world, I wore this shirt to work today. Truly didn’t think about it at all.
Please stop by the posts of my Style Me Blogger buddies to see what inspires them. And if you, blog, please link up with us!
Hugs and kisses,
Shaunacey
LOVE that shirt and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that you’re a natural helper and that helping others inspires you. It’s beautiful, generous people like you that inspire me! thank you for always being so kind, sweet and sharing that warm smile with us!

So funny about the tee. I have had it for three or four years. I put it on Thursday without thinking about our post prompt. In fact, I put it on to see if it brought me joy (like the Tidying Up book suggests) and if it didn’t, I was going to take it to Goodwill. Guess I will give it another chance.
You say THE nicest things, Shaunacey. I know that if I could meet you in real life I would be adopting you, Katie and Alison C., too. XO
Lisa
I love this post! I never thought about it – but I am going to have to take the quizzes because I feel good helping people, too – and never really thought about it but helping propels me through my day when I feel like I made a difference in someone’s life. The MJ quote is something to hang on to. Enjoy your weekend! Be inspired!

Thank you, love! I know that I could list a million people who inspire me but I couldn’t really think of a feeling or an experience or an activity that inspires me. I mean, of course love inspires me but I was trying to think beyond the obvious. The quiz that divulged that I am a helper was on the mark. I don’t think of myself that way really, but the hope of helping children or someone struggling with some kind of problem in their life, inspires me to want to do more, be kinder, more helpful, more loving. Take the quizzes and see what you find out about yourself. XO
Sheila @ Making the Most of Every Day
I took the first quiz and got “Learning New Things.” That’s pretty accurate I guess! LOL! Loved your take on this topic!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, I would think you are very keen on learning new things with all of the home-schooling workshops and conventions you have attended. I think you have to be willing to stay current and be a life-long learner to be an educator. I am sure you are a quick study, too!!!
deena
Love that you took a quiz! I’m going to have to try that!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Would love to know what the quizzes tell you. I know that I am inspired by my family and love and children I have worked with but I wouldn’t have said I was inspired by helping because I wouldn’t have thought of it. Sometimes I don’t think I know myself at all!!
Katie
Love that you took these quizzes. And I did the WHO….oooppps!! Oh and also I need that shirt in my life!! Cute Cute Leslie!! You are inspiring!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I don’t think that writing about WHO inspires you was incorrect or anything, really, I just could answer that easily with pretty obvious answers and I wanted to think beyond that, but had no idea what the WHAT in what inspires me would be. I would say helping children/being with children inspires me but couldn’t think of that on my own!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
What? I am inspiring? Just realized you said that. Oh my gravy! Thank you, Katie. I can’t imagine how I could be but I am thankful to you for saying that. My poor tee was on its way to Goodwill but decided to wear it one last time to see if it brought me joy (as the Tidying Up book says things should). I really never thought about it in respect to our post prompt for today. Kinda slow sometimes on the up-take!!! I think I will keep the tee around.
Katie
YES!! Keep that tee! And I only speak the truth Leslie! You are inspiring!! To me, all the children you teach and all the people you serve volunteering!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I washed the Be Inspiring tee and I guess I will keep it. So funny how I was ready to pass it along to Goodwill until our blog post about inspiration and that I absolutely accidentally happened to wear it. Crazy! Thank you for your sweet response. I just love kids. Love kids. Love kids. It was wonderful being back in school last week with …. KIDS!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Love that you took tests and it turned out to be true too! And that you wore that shirt, seriously you are so cute, love seeing your pretty face at all of your library subbing places 😉
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, sweet Sarah! Even at 57, I don’t think I know myself very well sometimes. Now that I took those tests, the light bulb has come on and I realized that I am inspired by helping…especially helping children. But until I saw those results, I couldn’t put my finger on that! Thank you for saying such sweet things. I love to be back in schools even if it is only for a day here and a day there. I miss books and babies so much.
Jill
I always want to and like to help people too so I’m curious what the quiz would tell me! I love your tee! Have a great weekend!

Hey sugar foot! Take the quiz, especially the first one, and let me know what you got. I am all about taking quizzes to learn more about myself because sadly at 57, I am still not quite sure who I am. I think I am always evolving. Thank you so much for coming by. XO
Lana
What a great idea to take these quizzes – and they turned out perfectly! You always inspire me with your positive attitude, your beautiful smile, and obvious joy for life. I’m so glad we’ve gotten to “know” each other!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Lana! I love that you see a joy for life in me. Ha! Was talking about that with my husband today – about how many people we see wherever we go look so unhappy and miserable and even irritable. I hope I project a little bit more sunshine than a lot of folks. XO
Joy
Love that tee shirt Leslie! Thanks for sharing the quiz. My result was “Learning New Things.” Pretty spot on for me. I’m a school, class. seminar, training junkie. I loved your post today. Swan song. I like that!! Looking forward to new endeavors and continuing to build our friendships and community together.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You absolutely bowl me over with the way you tackle new projects and learn new things. You are an amazing woman, JOY!
Carrie
I absolutely see you as someone who helps people…all the time and EVERYDAY. That is how I see you, Leslie. I love that you included the quiz. I took it twice and got the same results – spreading happiness. That is so not me….made me chuckle though.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, Carrie!!!! So sweet. I love that your results on the quiz said you spread happiness. You made me very happy with your sweet reply. So there! That is you…maybe more than you realize. 🙂
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
What a fun take on this! Those quizzes are always a great time and can make you think. Or at least give you a good laugh 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are right about these online quizzes. They can be spot on sometimes and way off the mark other times. I love taking them, though. Have you taken the Five Languages of Love Quiz? If not, take it to see what your love language is.
