Once Upon a Time & Happily Ever After

Rediscovering Life after Retirement

Categories: My Little Miracles

Thankful Thursday 10.21.2021: On Friday

Dear ones, it’s time for Thankful Thursday 10.21.2021. However, coming to you on Friday, 10.22.2021. Joining Rebecca Jo at Knit by God’s Hand and Jennifer at All 4 Boys in sharing the hosting responsibilities for the Thankful Thursday series. Some weeks, you might discover posts from all 3 of us, other Thursdays, it might just be one of us hosting. Sometimes you might find a post from me on a Friday!! But whatever the case, YOU are always welcome to join us!!

THANKFUL THURSDAY 10.21.2021

Coming off a hectic week of appointments and commitments every day. And the coming week may wind up being just about as busy. But I don’t think I will be needed to go over the mountain to help with the girls next week. With gas at $3.49 a gallon, and payday still 9 days away, I am thankful for that.

What else am I thankful for this week? Let’s see.

STRAIGHT FROM MY GRATITUDE JOURNAL

For my Thankful Thursday posts, I usually share the ‘gratefuls’ I’ve listed in my gratitude journal over the week or month, whatever length of time has elapsed since my last Thankful Thursday post. You are an inspiration to me! I am grateful for many of the same things. I’ve been writing a gratitude article for my church’s monthly newsletter. This is a wonderful way to start my thinking.

So many things to be grateful for, but this week I’m thankful for the time I’ve been able to spend with my Dad, and time with my horse friends.

Would it make you feel better about the petrol price if I told you that it is almost double that price over here? Crazy isn’t it?
I love seeing how long your lists are on Thankful Thursdays! Long may that last.
I am thankful for ‘new’ things this week. New Home for our son and a new job for our daughter 🙂

I had so much zucchini this year (doesn’t everyone though) and made zucchini bread all summer. One recipe makes two loaves, so I’d freeze one and we’d eat the other. We will have plenty of bread this winter for sure!

How does the bread freeze? Would love to try your recipe. I bought - should try to grow next year - 3 zucchinis on Thursday in hopes of making the bread again. Would like to try freezing a loaf so we don’t make gluttons of ourselves!!

I love your Thankful Thursdays - doesn’t matter what day of the week they’re on. There are a number of things on your list that we just tend to take for granted. I’ve said before I need to start a daily list like that. There are SO many things!!!

Sorry about your lidocaine injection. Not familiar with that, but praying your pain is taken care of.

I love this series! I love how you are able to see all the things you are grateful for. For myself, this week I am thankful for a supportive husband, and a dear friend who took me out for coffee so we could vent our frustrations together in person.

Our car battery gave up the ghost last week as well. And, in our garage! First thing we thanked Him for!! We were on our way to pick up my brother who needed a ride to the airport (sigh) but he took a shuttle - no problem - and, thankfully, we were not in the airport parking lot when it died!! So many blessings lately! So glad you shared. And I made your chili recipe yesterday. Yum - thanks much!!

Yay!! Glad you made the chili recipe…the pumpkin chili and not my Cincinnati chili that didn’t turn out so well.
I was so thankful that my battery died in our garage. So thankful I wasn’t taking my granddaughters to school or headed over the mountain
      when it gave out.

In what ways do you decorate for the winter holiday season? Do you use traditional colors or have your own color scheme? Is there a theme to your decorating?
Share a family holiday tradition or recipe. Is there something new you plan to try this year?
Do you have a favorite Christmas book, movie, song or TV show? Why is it special to you? Is there a popular holiday book, program or movie you have never seen?
How do you handle the stress of the holidays? Do you have some go-to for restoring calm to your life when things get crazy?
What will you wear over the holidays? Do you dress up for New Year’s Eve?
How do you feel about snow? What are the chances you will see a white Christmas? Do you enjoy any snow day activities? What will the weather be like where you live in this last month of the year?
Do you have a gift-giving budget? For how many people do buy gifts? Do you buy for the postman, your hair dresser, nail tech, children’s teachers? When do you open gift? Who is the hardest person you buy for?
If you could give a kind of impossible gift to someone, what would it be? Perhaps something beyond your price range? Or something you can’t buy. Something intangible.
