Fashionistas,
A few weeks ago, fellow librarian and blogger Jen at Librarian for Life and Style shared her interpretation of an outfit for another edition of the”Style Imitating Art” series. The art on which this edition is based was ‘curated’ by another SIA regular, Salazar from 14 Shades of Gray. Check it out.
Style Imitating Art: On the Road

This sweet illustration is one of a series of GIFs in Chinese artist Oamul’s “On the Road” series. You can see the entire series, here. There’s one picture in particular that speaks to me. Can you guess which one?
This inspiration reminds me of all the beautiful women I saw bicycling all over Paris Parisians peddling to work, to the market, to the flower vendor on the corner. And all in dresses! Doing it with such ease and glamour that I swore I would start biking to work when I got back home.
Nah, changed my mind quick upon realizing all the sleep I’d miss every morning in order to make the hour-long trek to school. I don’t look that pretty on a bike anyway.
Jen’s Interpretation
Hit the nail on the head. Those Asian-inspired sandals. The black pants/leggings. Wearing and standing among the bouquet of flowers rather than carrying in a bicycle basket. Well done, Jen!

My Turn
It’s been about three weeks since the group revealed their take. In true Leslie fashion, I am joining in late.
Actually knew immediately what I would wear. Took the pics just a few days later. But then I got caught up in house cleaning for my daughters’ birthday visits. Then my daughters arrived, with their daughters in tow. And all of a sudden posting my interpretation of “On the Road” took a backseat in my life.
This outfit is pretty standard fare for me. Trusty Old Navy bf cropped jeans, Loft Outlet graphic tee and cardi, K-Mart…yes, K-Mart! blush loafers ($13.99) and Amazon floral headband. My friend Jodie at Jodie’s Touch of Style recently shared a post about wearing accessories with prints. Check out how she and her two moms took their print outfits to another level by adding the perfect wrap or jewelry.
I think maybe my headband is my fun accessory, my ‘bicycle basket of flowers’, if you will. The thing that makes this outfit a little more me and a little less jeans and a tee.
Summer Bucket List: Use Good Camera for “My Fashion House”
One of the items on my summer bucket list is to use my Sony camera for “My Fashion Haus” posts. And hopefully beyond. Check out my overall progress on the summer bucket list, here.
Although I took the picture below and others in this post with my Samsung phone camera, I have been playing with my Sony. Took photos just today for the latest edition of “Style Imitating Art”. Will share them next week here and on Erin’s blog Loop Looks, next Monday.
Also linking-up with Laura for “Confident Twosday” at I do deClaire, Carrie (Curly, Crafty Mom) and Jill (Doused in Pink) for “Fashion Files” on Thursday and Jennie for “Fabulous Friday” at Pocketful of Polka Dots.
Your Turn
How would you replicate “On the Road” from pieces in your closet? Do you have an accessory that kicks up your ‘uniform’ a notch? Shoes, earrings, even a fun bag?
How about technology…do you have a gadget that you keep putting off learning to use? I have had my camera for a year and can take a simple photo with it. Thanks to PC, I can use my cell phone as a remote for my Sony now. And today I learned that my camera can be adjusted on the tripod from taking horizontal pictures to vertical photos. Figured that out all by my lonesome. So there is hope for me yet.
I have a couple of posts in the works now that my birthday girls have come and gone and my house is back together again. A delicious detox chicken soup recipe for “Tasty Tuesday”. 8/1. Planned to share it this Tuesday but had my days mixed up and thought Wednesday was Tuesday. Tasty Wednesday doesn’t have the same ring. “Sentence a Day” link-up will go live on Thursday, 8/3. And a recap of my summer photo challenge in the near future.
Thank you for stopping in for a visit. Consider yourself hugged! But don’t let that keep you from coming back again.
Hugs and kisses,

Sounds like you enjoyed all the girl time you had, even with the rain! I love the headband you’re wearing and those shoes! I have a pair of white jeans that are cuffed like yours. Looking super cute!!

Thank you so much! Somehow this comment just showed up or I just discovered it. I have had some fun wearing my little headbands. Would like to get some solid colors or subtle prints to wear for fall. I need to wear my raw hem cuffed jeans again. These days I am pretty much wearing shorts. It will be time for school clothes in just a week, though!

Thank you!! I am a comfy gal. So this tee, cardi and bf jeans outfit was right up my alley. Had fun putting it together for the Style Imitating Art challenge. Thank you for coming by and commenting.

Aww, thank you, Pamela. I love my cheap-o K-Mart loafers and best thing about them, in addition to the price, is how comfy they are. Thank you so much for coming by and leaving a sweet comment too!
