Hey, chick-a-dees,
The weekend is in sight! What plans do you have, gals? I am going to be giving me’self a mani, I am (to be read in a Cockney accent). With the goodies I received from Andrea at Long Days, Short Years. We were paired for this spring nail polish swap and I am excited to share with you the pretty things Andrea shared with me.
Spring Nail Polish Swap
I struggle so with my nails. Have always been hard on my hands. Using the computer, shelving books, doing crafts with little ones as a librarian. Lately it’s with the spring cleaning that seems to span the 4 seasons. Can’t seem to stay home long enough to get it done between March and June. It’s one of the activities on my 2018 spring bucket list, here, but at this rate, might get pushed onto summer. Probably own at least a half-dozen pairs of plastic gloves but can’t remember to wear them. Ha! Put them on today just for you!
And check out that carefully coordinated purple sponge. PC must have picked it out.
That’s something else that happens a lot more, now that I am older…forgetfulness. Also have gardening gloves but have worn the fingertips off of every pair. Adding those to my Walmart list for today. And because I haven’t worked since November for that extra mad money, my retirement funds don’t allow for salon manis and pedis.
What’s a girl to do? Sign up for the spring nail polish swap! Then sit down long enough to do a home mani and pedi. That’s on the docket for my Friday as a celebration for finally finishing the spring clean upstairs – 2 bedrooms, a study, a loft, 2 bathrooms and a big ole hall. Yay for ME!
Check out the goodies from Andrea that I’ll be using to pamper myself a bit.
Look at that luscious shade of lavender nail polish. How did Andrea know that PC’s fav color is purple!! And what gal doesn’t love a little glitter in her life? Thinking I might just get really crazy by painting 4 fingers lavender and one finger in glitter! Utterly unlibrarian of me.
Have always wanted to try Jamberry wraps and now I can. Thank you, Andrea! Wonder if I can bribe PC with a Pepsi to help me apply them? Maybe a 3 liter bottle?
Learned about the spring nail polish swap over at Tanya’s blog The Other Side of the Road. Wonder if there will be a summer nail polish swap? Maybe by then I can get the downstairs clean and grow my nubby nails out a bit.
Your Turn
Tell me about your nails? Tips? Powder? Gel? Are you good about wearing gloves when you garden and clean house? Maybe that should be a summer goal. Most of the time my hands look so masculine and war-torn that I sit on them in public, which probably doesn’t help things at all either!!
Was headed to Walmart but my Prince just called to say there is a SWAT situation going on at our neighborhood store. Such a sad day in someone’s life.
Grateful to all the gals who coordinated this spring nail polish swap and to Andrea for my goodies. Be safe wherever your day takes you.
Hugs and kisses,
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I have some Jamberry wraps I still need to use, but I think they’re for the fall/winter (bummer!). I remember going on my 2nd Disney trip with the kids and Autumn and I both did ‘Frozen’ Jamberry wraps (they weren’t really Frozen branded, but were icy looking!). It was so fun. Except… hers all fell off in the pool the first day! Mine stayed on. That girl is hard on her nails… lol! What a fun gift exchange!

Ha! Had to laugh at Autumn being hard on her nails. You would think I climbed trees with mine! Don’t have much hope that the Jamberry wraps will last long on me either. But they sure are cute. XO

I use gel lack. But no gloves, and I really should!-
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I see my gloves every times I get my cleaning supplies out and just ignore them!! Got to start doing better. Gel works well to strengthen nails, though, so you might be okay without gloves.

I love that sparkly polish! So many pretty goodies. I was such a huge Jamberry fan but my nails are so oily I could never get them to stay on; but oh those colors and patterns are just so tempting to keep on trying.

Thank you, JoAnne. I am anxious to get this spring cleaning done so I can have a mani and get my hands back in shape. It is just tough trying to do anything with those silly gloves. I am past that certain season so my hands, skin, hair are all very dry. Just another bonus to being older. I am not sure the Jamberry wraps will last long on me but going to find out!

Jamberry is fun! I tried it awhile back and liked how my nails looked!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Sounds like everyone really likes Jamberry. I need to hurry up and finish the spring cleaning so I can give myself a proper mani!!

Never heard of a nail polish swap but sounds a great idea! I wear rubber gloves for doing dishes and gloves for gardening but after a while I take them off because I like to feel the soil. So my hands and nails are pretty bad, even though I use cuticle conditioners and hand cream.

You are a role model for using gloves. I need to do better. My hands and nails are unsightly and my cuticles tear so easily. Have never had pretty polished hands. Maybe in my old age?!!

What a fun idea! I was just thinking that I want to participate but then I remembered that I never do my nails. I’m an in-salon mani and pedi girl. It’s one of my little indulgences 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, I much prefer in-salon but this being poor business is really getting in the way of my doing some of the things I like to do. I am about to apply at Dollar Tree and our gym to try to work part-time. Seems everything in our house, including our cars, is falling apart! Poor PC needs some back up to help pay for everything.

I really need to paint my nails – it’s been awhile. Purple is my favorite color, so that polish is really pretty – and the glitter polish too. Very fun!

The nail polish swap was fun. Now I am reading about some gals doing coffee mug and tea cup swaps. They are swapping the loveliest things. Maybe for Christmas we can do some kind of swap, the group of us who do bucket list or Sentence a Day.

I am so hard on my nails that nothing would stay on longer than a day or two. Now I discovered the Essie gel nails and love them (they still only look good 4-5 days, but that is better than nothing!), but I don’t have time to paint my nails right how. Hopefully I can get back in the habit in a few months. This sounds like a fun swap! I like to do fun colors on my toes for summer!

High five, girl. Who has time to sit around and paint their nails? I mean, I have time but that’s not what I want to do with my time. And I really hate going to a salon and sitting there for 90 minutes for a mani/pedi. In some ways it is relaxing but in some ways it feels like I am throwing money down the drain because in a few days, I am right back to raggedy nails!! We are just both busy girls!
