Dear ones,
Can you believe it is that time again? Time for another edition of “Sentence a Day”. I struggled keeping up with my sentence writing this month. I think because my laptop was on the fritz at the beginning of July, I got off on the wrong foot. Then had to play catch up once my computer was repaired. Funny thing, you don’t know how much you need a functioning space bar until it isn’t…functioning. Let’s see what the month held for me.
Out and About
- Santa Fe, you charmed me then and now. 7.1.2017
- Pleasant drive home from Albuquerque with a stop at historic Ft. Selden. 7.2.2017
Prayers
- Prayers for the bravest 8 year-old boy I’ve ever known. 7.3.2017
- The bravest 8 year-old boy I’ve ever known went to heaven today; hope there was a fireworks display to welcome him. 7.4.2017 (Read more about Nathan’s brave battle with DIPG, here)
Productive Days
- Yay for a productive day, some spring/summer cleaning, an updated laptop with working space bar and ? keys. 7.5.2017
- Enjoyed long phone convos with my mom and sister, decluttered scarves, organized linen closet, got back on track with The Miracle Morning. 7.6.2017 (Learn more about The Miracle Morning routine, here)
- Delighted in the pace of the day; slept late, convinced PC to do half of my 10 minute ab routine with me, 5 mile bike ride to the gym and back, weight lifting, hydro massage while there, ran errands in the afternoon, Panda Express pool-side for dinner and a hot soak in the hot tub before bed. 7.7.2017
- Another darn good day: slept late, talked library lessons with my sissy for 90 minutes via Skype, joined PC at his baseball game, then swimming and sandwiches at home, catnap before church and dinner at Souper Salad. 7.8.2017
- Sunday is PC’s grumpy day; while riding our bikes to the gym, working out and laying on the hydro massage beds helped, counting and photographing our now 30+ pool deck cracks and one giant crack in the pergola didn’t improve things at all. 7.9.2017
- Not enough hours in the day and not accomplishing enough. 7.10.2017
Love is in the Air
- Our 9th anniversary, our 14th year together…thank you, Match.com. 7.11.2017 (The photos below were our Match.com profile photos)
Birthday Prep
- Back at the summer cleaning, today in my loft; books galore. 7.12.2017
- Birthday shopping day, gotta love Target. 7.13.2017
- Did it myself: birthday party flamingos then while summer cleaning my loft, I found the letter my mom wrote me the day I graduated from high school. 7.14.2017 (Step by step directions, here)
- Massage and movie on a drippy Saturday afternoon. 7.15.2017
- Gym and swim, a lovely late lunch at Craft and Social after scouring the junque stores for a bookshelf to hold my library lesson books. 7.16.2017
- Love my loft; got it all cleaned up and just want to spend all day in there. 7.17.2017
- I think maybe, just maybe, we finally have the attention of the pool builder with all of the troubles we’ve had. 7.18.2017
My Girls are Here
- My girls are here, my girls are here…to be read with the same enthusiasm as Steve Martin announcing the new phone book is here in “The Jerk”. 7.19.2017
- Ok, rain, really? 7.20.2017
- Girls’ day activities with five girls together on the boom boom. 7.21.2017
- Lots of fun in the pool between gray clouds and rain storms. 7.22.2017
- Full day despite the rain trying to get in our way…seems nothing is cooperating…ducks, locks, ribs and weather. 7.23.2017 (Crossing a few things off my summer bucket list)
- Our last hurrah with park and pool time. 7.24.2017
Back to Reality
- Back to life, back to reality but happily so. 7.25.2017
- Productive day beginning with a return to The Miracle Morning. 7.26.2017
- This just in: calories from the DQ Blizzard I ate tonight before dinner don’t count because $1 of the purchase price went toward helping a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in El Paso…YES! 7.27.2017
- Enjoying my quiet mornings on the patio before I jump into my day, and happy birthday, Cady! 7.28.2017 (Take a peek at a birthday celebration post for Cadence Ellie, here)
- PC is sickie-poo…but has a shot and antibiotics on board…road bikes to the gym, lifted weights and rode home, a little shopping, church and home…not bad for being sick, huh?
- Quiet Sunday thinking about my birthday girl, Brennyn, happy birthday, baby…biked to the gym, swam steak dinner and GoT. 7.30.2017 (Read a birthday celebration of my Brennyn Alexis, here)
- Blinked and this last day of July (actually, the whole month) was gone; happy birthday, Lauren, my baby Buffy; giggled for three hours while Skryping with my sister. 7.31.201 (Check out a birthday celebration of my Lauren Allegra, here)

I’m so sorry to hear about Nathan. It’s at times like these that I try so hard to be thankful for my life and what I have…..
I love that you are doing the miracle mornings….it sounds like something I should work on!
Busy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,right?
I also love the collage you put together…I may have to copy yours for next month!!

Have you heard of The Miracle Morning? I really enjoy it. Now that I am not working, I spend too much time doing it but the routine is a wonderful way to start the day. When I started the program this spring, I was still working and I made sure not to spend too long doing it.
Thank you for the sweet compliment on my collage. Busy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! You are so right. I like having things to do but like to do them at my own pace. When I get ‘over-booked’ I tend to get frazzled. This Sentence a Day series really helps to reflect back on all we’ve done and plan for what more we want to do. I love it!

Leslie, you also had a busy July! What IS it about this month? Glad to read you got a new computer! I have enjoyed this challenge but won’t be able to continue until December/January. I will be on a bit of a blogging break, then the Fall semester hits hard with me teaching three classes! I will look forward to your future posts!

Thank you for letting me know that you are going to take a break from Sentence a Day. Sounds like you have plenty on your plate with work on your book and teaching this fall. Good luck with all of your endeavors. Just drop me a line when you are interested in returning to SaD. I have signed up for a subscription to Terri’s FIT Readers so will be keeping up with you.

You’re right. I enjoy this monthly recap. Shows how full my life is and it makes me thankful for all I have. And I’m already behind too. Off to get caught up…
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Isn’t SaD a great way to reflect? So glad Sarah has kept it alive all these months.

Yay for getting a space bar that works, always important when typing something. Sorry to hear about Nathan, that is so sad. Many prayers to his family and friends. What a busy July you had, I just love this link up!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you so much for keeping Sentence a Day going. So many are benefiting from it by reflecting on their own lives, learning from others and making new friends. Thank you, Sarah.
Nathan’s family is asking that anyone who was touched by his life and death, send them a post card. If you and your family are interested, I can share their address. I cannot imagine the devastation of losing a child. Praying God brings them comfort as they move forward.

I so enjoy reading about the overriding love you have for your family, really, really heartwarming. I confess to being very envious that you were able to enjoy so much time with your grandbabies! We fly to see our girl on the opposite coast every two months, but to be within driving distance again would be absolute heaven.
I think my favorite day of your month was July 7 in that it combines everything I also love – exercise, your honey, relaxation and good food!
Natalie
I enjoy reading your July recap, Leslie. Such a meaningful month for you with your anniversary and family birthdays. Look forward to reading your next post.
Andrea@WellnessNotes
I so enjoy reading everyone’s recap. It’s amazing how much we do and experience in 31 days… So much to be thankful for. And so much happened in your life in July, both good and bad. Happy Anniversary! Loved seeing the match.com pics!
Have a wonderful August!
Jo Tracey
It’s a proven fact that calories consumed for charity, off other people’s plates or on a plane don’t count. Happy anniversary, and love the colours in those Santa Fe pics.
Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond
Beautiful memories this month Leslie! Celebrating your anniversary, gorgeous photos of your grandchildren and your first photo of all those flowers just made me feel so happy. Glad to see you had some quiet times as well. I think I need a few of those. Another great month and I look forward to reading about your August.

Hi Leslie,
First, happy wedding anniversary!!
Santa Fé looks gorgeous. I would like to visit it one day
.
I am sorry about the cracks by your pool. I remember you mentioning them in one of your previous post and they just seem getting bigger. ;-(
Your girls are so adorable. And I can totally imagine how much fun they must have had in the pool and at the park!;-))
I really enjoyed reading your July diary, Leslie. Wishing you an amazing August and I hope that your comp will get better.

You were very busy. Happy Anniversary by the way.
Boo to the pool deck woes. That’s not fun at all. Do you have a way to fix them at least? But the pics of you eating by the pool and the swims must be nice.
Also the gif you used for my girls are here was fantastic. Well used.
I am behind on my August sentences too. It really snuck up on me. Ahhhh.

I am struggling with my sentences and my bucket list!! Need to buckle down. I have such high hopes for each day and then I can’t seem to get everything accomplished and today’s to-do turns into tomorrow’s to-do list.
We have finally felt like the pool builder has heard us. So we are both relaxing a little bitty bit and trying to just enjoy the pool. They promise to repair everything to our satisfaction at the end of pool season. Fingers crossed.
We had a quiet anniversary but that’s ok. Sometimes quiet is better.

I love you still have the Match.com profile match up. So fun!!!
Anything with The Jerk…I’m laughing. So funny!
I’m loving your little pink loafer shoes!!!! <3
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey sugar! I saw that Match.com profile pic of my Prince and my heart skipped a beat. Not only was he a cutie, but he could write in complete sentences with appropriate grammar and punctuation. THAT was a rare bird!
The Jerk has always been one of my family’s favorite movies. That Navan Johnson!
Thank you for coming by. Enjoying getting to know you through SaD! If you are interested in joining for our fall bucket list series, please let me know. We’d love to have you.
Nikki
This looks fun! So, I just write a sentence a day, and then post it after the month is over? Is that right? Thanks for inviting me to join in.
🙂 gwingal
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Exactly. May I add you to the email list? Sending you an email now.

How are your sentences coming? Will you join us for the SaD reveal on the 7th? Hope so!
