Hey, gals!
Time for another Style Me Bloggers Link-Up and this time we are talking about our summer go-to style. I know my blogger buddies are going to have some incredible outfits to post for this go-round but you can always count on me to bring up the rear.
Literally and figuratively!
So, bearing that in mind, I am going to share my real summer go-to style.
Summer go-to style number one, for the hours between rise and shine:
I have been reading my devotional outside on my back porch this month. I love it. In fact, I am writing this post from same said back porch but now it is evening and there is a storm rolling in over the mountains in the west and over the rooftops from the east.
During devotional time and breakfast I am wearing pjs. Which aren’t really pajamas at all, but I use that as a kind of catch-all word for anything I sleep in. Tee shirt=pajamas, Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts football jersey=vintage collector’s item=pajamas, boxers and tank top=yeah, you get it.
These pajamas are from Target, part of their Gilligan & O‘Malley® collection that I got on the clearance rack. Wouldn’t PC (and my mom) be proud? You, too, can have this look! Very similar, on sale here. It even gets a 4 and 1 tip of a star out of five stars rating. Your husband can thank me later.
Summer go-to style number two, for the hours between up and at ’em:
Once I have stirred around a little, I usually transition from my evening attire into something even more comfortable. Nothing is comfier than my running shorts and tanks or jester pants and tees.
Jester pants and tees. Available at JCP, available here.
My running shorts have those built-in panties so I can skip underwear altogether (down there anyway). And I will take a sports bra over a lacy, push-up, pull-in-and-over Victoria’s Secret bra any day.
I ask you, isn’t that PC a lucky guy?
Notice that everything in the ensemble matches. That’s no accident, girls! In fact, I had one outfit planned for today but the sports bra didn’t match right with the shorts and my sockies for that outfit were dirty. So, it was back to the drawing board or the dresser.
Accessories for this little number, include Adidas or UnderArmour socks with my New Balance tennies and my FitBit ZIP clipped onto the inside of my sports bra. I am trying very hard to get 10,000 steps a day. I get really frustrated if I do a lot of stuff and walk around a lot while I am still in my pjs because I am not getting credit for it.
I try to get my run in early. Sometimes, PC and I go to the gym before he goes to work. On those days, I jump right out of bed and jump right into go-to style number two, without passing go, without collecting $200.

If I run at home, I am a bit more leisurely…to be pronounced lesh-urly, short E, with a faux, Old Guard accent.
Today is a lesh-urly day.
Summer go-to style number three, for the hours between out and about:
When I do go out, which isn’t every single day. I mean, obviously I go outside for my devotional, I go outside to work in the yard, and walk the kitties but when I go out and about, I usually wear some version of something like this. Which is challenge-based. Sorta.
I never had been in a Loft, not that we had one to go into here in El Paso, until my BFF told me about them. Then I would shop online and then we got our very own Loft and Loft Outlet.
BAM!
And there went my money.
I mention Loft and the outlet because the outfit above is Loft-wear. Paired with Target sandals. I wore this to one of PC’s games. The ride to the game must have been horrendous because I aged 25 years from the pictures taken at home to the one taken on the bleachers. Need to quit going, I guess.
And this is a Dress Barn dress I had several years before-challenge, bc, similar available here. But worn with a Loft challenge-wear denim jacket and Charming Chuck’s (Charming Charlie’s) statement necklace. Target floral pumps complete the look.
I wore this outfit to volunteer at the El Paso Holocaust Museum (that is so hard to type!) and then to lunch at the Angry Owl restaurant with the other El Paso Summer Style 2015 Challenge participants (that’s hard to say!).
Lunch was such fun, BTW. In the pic above, we lined up according to who was a GYPO challenge participant first…moi! Then beside me is my school (and otherwise) friend, Christina, who joined through me. Beside Christina is Rebecca, who joined the challenges through Christina and then Luna joined the challenges through her BFF Rebecca. Great company and great food. Turkey sammie with guac and steamed veggies.
I have included the pictures of wear I was going in these outfits in an effort to keep things real, because I really wore these out. So to say they are go-to summer looks would be correct because I have gone-to both several times this summer.
Ok, gals, I am going to wind things up. If you are actually reading this post, it is a miracle. Un milagro! I have had no less than 900 things go wrong as I have written it.
Please stop by the beautiful blogs of my beautiful blogging buddies to check out their go-to summer style. You will be glad you did.

Hi Leslie! My go-to summer outfit is white jeans/capris/shorts with a gray tee. I have worn white jeans for years and have every size from 4 to 14. I never get rid of a good pair of white jeans! And I am currently obsessed with gray tees, I think I have five. Slip on a pair of flip flops, wedge sandals, or my gray tennies and I’m out the door. Have a fun summer! Janice

Oh, yay, Janice! Thank you for commenting and for reading. And for being the beautiful, inspirational fashionista you are. I remember some of your gray tee-white jeans looks. You are one hot tamale! I have my share of gray tees, too. Who in the world knew??? Wore white on white yesterday for the second time. Maybe I will share that in the next post. Please come back. XO

I love the picture of all the fashionistas in their white dresses! How fun to see the “bread crumb trail” of how everyone joined!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, I love the way you said that…bread crumb trail…very fairy tale, very Hansel and Gretelesque. Love it.
Lana
I just love how you write Leslie – you always keep me laughing. Honestly, I’m in my workout clothes every day until at least noon. I always have good intentions to get showered and dressed sooner, but it never works out. So fun that you had a style me meet-up – you look beautiful in your white dress! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Lana, thank you for saying you like the way I write. I think I often communicate best in writing. Tend to choke on the foot in my mouth when I am talking. Relieved to read that I am not the only one who means to get dressed for the day bright and early but often has her best laid plans deterred. XO
Sharon
After knowing how your day went, you still seem to find time to blog and make me laugh!! You look so pretty in the white dress and denim jacket!
Love it! We will save our long phone call for when we both have a calm afternoon. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Back to life this morning! Hope this week I can settle into a routine and get somethings accomplished. Maybe we can work in that phone call!! XO
Karen Strand
I love that we have the same morning routine! Getting comfortable and reading Jesus Calling 🙂 Yu have such a pretty backyard view! Hope you fare well during that storm my friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Karen. I love being in my backyard and my kitties are glad I do because they do, too. And if I get too engrossed in my devotion, they tend to take advantage and climb over the wall to the neighboring yards. That whole grass is always greener business. Our storm really greened up the whole city. Miracle of rain!
Shaunacey
I love that you posted what you REALLY wear!! Your workout outfits are so flipping cute!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, lovey dove. I am thinking I need to order a few more pairs of jester pants before cool weather is upon us. I am loving wearing them. XO
Carrie
I’m with you and Deena with your time off this summer – workout gear!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I have really fallen off the band-wagon/workout-wagon over the last week on vacation. Hope my workout gear still fits! XO
Deena
What a lovely backyard you have! I could wear my pjs all day….
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! I love being in my backyard until temps make it unbearable. XO
Rebecca
Hello Leslie! My absolute fave go-to summer outfits always include a cotton maxi dress or maxi skirt. They are light and flowy plus can easily be dressed up or down, depending on the day, to suit your needs!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey sugar! Thanks for chiming in. I have decided I kinda like the ease of a maxi, too. Wouldn’t say I am totally comfy wearing them yet, but working toward that. And love that they are good-to-go year round. Do you ever wear them to school?
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
If I’m at home, I’m in workout clothes too 🙂 but I don’t match as well as you do! That is impressive!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet friend. Gotta get back to my routine of working out now that vacation is over.
Katie
Greta looks!! Love all your cute workout gear…love you in the white dress!! Oh and LOFT is one of my fave stores!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! Hope the workout stuff still fits. I have definitely overindulged this past week on vacation.
