Pinching myself today, dear ones, because I am actually getting my “Monday Moments of Gratitude” post written a little early. When things like this happen, the pessimist/realist in me just waits for the other shoe to drop. Kind of like today everything is wonderful and I have all of this extra time to catch up on blogging but tomorrow I will wake up and realize I had a dozen things I had forgotten to do when I thought I was all caught up in life.
But no matter, tonight, the stars have aligned and all’s right in my world and I have a few moments before my Tylenol PM kicks in to write this post.
Oh, girls, I have so much to be thankful for.
So glad to be linking up with Shaunacey at Simply Shaunacey for this series.
I have so many big and little miracles to share.
The biggest miracle probably being the birth of my second granddaughter Lucia Carolina Buendia. I have mentioned her a couple of times on the blog already but not in a “Little Miracles” post. Lucia was delivered by C-section on March 18 at 11:02 am after a tough couple of days wedged in my daughter Lauren’s birth canal. Read more here. Poor baby girl. She has a few health issues as a result of the aforementioned wedging but we are hopeful that they will soon be resolved with physical therapy and the loving care of her mommy and daddy. So thankful that this little family is happy and healthy.
I was away from home for about ten days, helping Lauren with baby Lucia. Both Lauren and my sister live in Houston so I was able to spend time with Valerie while I was there. I spent one night at Val’s house – even though she lives in Houston, her house is 55 minutes away from Lauren’s apartment and that traffic is almost more than this old woman can handle. We worked on the presentation we will be giving later this month at the Texas Library Association annual conference, drank wine, ate a fabulous dinner Val prepared in her recently renovated kitchen. Funny thing, I bought a bottle of wine for Valerie (dry red) and she bought a bottle of wine for me (sweet white).
I love our relationship. The next morning we shopped a bit and ate a salad at Salata. Here are just a few pics from our day.
If my blog was a place and not just a bunch of writing floating around in outer space, I would decorate it with fairy tale princesses like the cute pink ones at The Round Top Collection Gallery. Aren’t they darling? Actually, the entire store is wall-to-wall darlingness. Everything made out of metal. Just loved it. Have ya’all heard of Round Top before? Am I the only one to just now be discovering it?
And speaking of darlingness, these little cuties were at the Charming Charlie in the Woodlands, an upscale area in north Houston. The store was huge and there were so. many. beautiful. things. These are MY colors that my sister is displaying for me above. Love, love, loved it all. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for my family. For the love we have for each other.
PC received good news from a recent doctor appointment. I mentioned last “Little Miracles” post that he had been diagnosed with Baastrups Disease after experiencing increasing pain in his lower back. You can read more about that here. He has had two other potentially serious health problems that his doctors have been monitoring but after an appointment on Tuesday, we are relieved to learn that “things” are better than we first thought. I know that is a whole lot of vagueness and beating around the bush but I think if I say much more, and he happens to stop by the blog, I could be accused of TMI. So grateful to God that P’s health is less of an issue. On our last trip to the doctor, which has been about a once a week ordeal for one or the other of us lately, we did get momentarily stuck on the elevator.
It just so happened that it was April Fool’s Day so when I shared the pic above to Insta and FB, my buds all thought it was a joke. It wasn’t. But I couldn’t be ‘stuck’ with a better person, no matter where I am. Thankful to be Mrs. Prince Charming. Mrs. Charming? Mrs. P.C.?
It has been raining cats and dogs in Ft. Worth where Brennyn lives. After one particularly windy, stormy night, a number of her shingles were missing. She hurried around to get estimates for replacing them but before the roofer she settled with could start the repair, another rain came up.
I am so thankful that my baby girl and her baby girl were safe through these fierce spring storms and that her roof held and didn’t leak before she could get it fixed. Sadly, a third storm came through and ripped off more shingles after she had the repair work done but I am hopeful the same roofer will make her a deal on fixing them.
So, I got home from Houston last Sunday. Was so glad to see my honey. In true Clingan fashion, we were going to go to a movie straight from the airport but nixed that when both of us admitted to being kinda tired. Decided to run into our Walmart Neighborhood Market to get some milk and bread then just go home. Well, if you have been following me for awhile you know about the lack of spiritual upbringing I had as a child. Read here to learn a little more. On a walk one dark day, many years ago after tiring from struggling to handle life on my own and asked for God to give me a sign that He was there. I have always associated finding a penny with gaining good luck or good fortune, so that day, as soon as I asked for God to come to me, I found coins in every denomination. He was right there with me. Last Sunday, with worries about my daughters heavy on my heart, God shone a light on me to let me know He was there.
My very own pennies (dimes and quarters) from Heaven straight out of the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot.
Thank you, Shaunacey, my darling friend, for starting this series that keeps me looking for and being more aware of all of the goodness in my life. Dear ones, won’t you leave me a comment about a little miracle in your life? Would love to have you share!
Hugs and kisses,
Deena
I was really grouchy about being up early and having to get ready for work after a week off, but the sunrise right now is magnificent so I’m grateful!

I think God sends beautiful sunrises for just that purpose.

I love your grateful attitude, and so glad that despite some scares it sounds like your family members are all on their way to good health. Congratulations on sweet baby Lucia!

Wow, what a kind thing to say. I worry sometimes that I take all of my blessings too much for granted. Thank you. I am craving some Lucia and Cady time so looking forward to my quick trip back to Houston later this month. Thank you, dear one, for stopping by.

Getting stuck in the elevator is one of my big fears! Lol! I get clauster phobic easily! I am so glad your husband received some good news about his health. Valerie sounds like a fun sister, I always wished I had a sister! I love that you both bought each other a bottle of wine and the shopping and lunch looks fab! My husband surprised me with a gift card to Charming Charlie recently, so I can’t wait to go… especially after seeing those pics you took of their latest fashion! Pretty!

So many moments to be thankful for! Glad for the good news for PC and that Lauren and your new granddaughter are doing well. We had crazy rain/snow/wind this past weekend – I was just glad all of our trees will still standing – and not on our house.
