Fashionistas and teaching friends,
Opening My Fashion Haus for a quick review of a week’s worth of sub librarian looks. One of the perks of being back to school is getting to dress up-ish for work. I say dress up-ish because there’s nothing very fancy about anything in my closet. So dressing up for me is anything other than jeans!
Still knee-deep in dusty old books that I am weeding from the shelves, so jeans might be more practical for the work I am doing. But I like to try to look professional. Even though I am rolling around on the floor a lot of each day.
Here’s a quick review of my outfits for this past week. And your opportunity to register for the GYPO fall and work wear style challenges.
Shirt Dress and Boots
Came across this Tommy Hilfiger shirt dress ($similar$, similar, similar) at our outlet mall two years ago. Visited it on the sale rack for a couple of weeks. But when it was marked down to $10, it came home with me. Paired it here with my cowgirl boots from Cavenders ($similar$, similar, similar).
What’s Black and White and Re(a)d All Over?
According to the old riddle…a newspaper. Or a substitute librarian wearing black and white trousers ($similar$, similar, similar) from Loft and a wine lace tee ($similar$, similar, similar) from Loft Outlet. Black pumps from Kohl’s.
Casual Friday
In my school district, we can wear jeans any day but are encouraged to wear them with a college tee or jersey on Fridays. While it isn’t my alma mater, both of my daughters graduated from the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP). Not sure now why I was showing off my muscles that particular morning. Maybe just saying I made it through another week!
Saturday Ensemble
Throwing in a look I wore on Saturday to the Oktoberfest on Biggs Army Airfield. Showing off my skinny=super tight, embroidered Old Navy jeans ($similar$, similar, similar) paired with a vintage lime green tee from Loft Outlet. Rack Room booties. Oakley sunnies.
Thank goodness, I didn’t bust these britches wide open when I was riding the buckin’ bronc.
Now, I ask you, isn’t that pretty?
Lost and Found
I think I have talked about the organization of my closet in a previous post. Although I can’t put my finger on that post right now. So, maybe not. And what I do isn’t all that extraordinary. I arrange my closet by types of clothing (blouses, pants, dresses, tees, sweaters) and the clothes in each group are arranged in color order. Monday I chose a pair of dusty pink pants to wear. Started looking through my blouses and rediscovered this top that I haven’t worn in a very long time. Loft Outlet denim ($similar$, similar, similar) and blouse ($similar$, $similar$, similar).
Mint and Navy, Stripes and Flowers
A few months ago, one of the bloggers I follow (but I can’t remember who!) wore a navy and white striped dress with a mint cardi and mint sandals or flats. I loved it. Such a refreshingly cool palette. Kept saying I was going to replicate her look and finally did. Old Navy striped dress ($nothing like it$, similar, similar) Loft Outlet mint cardi, Charming Charlie scarf, DSW black flats.
Paisley, Please
Last outfit of the post. Merino skirt from Target ($similar$, similar, similar) paisley blouse from Loft Outlet ($similar$, similar, similar) burgundy shoes from DSW. This outfit was a little tough to crawl around in but I managed. The kids at Whitaker were taken with my shoes. Need to wear them more often.
Your Turn
What are you wearing to work or for appointments and errands during these in-between summer and fall days? My friend Danielle at Family.Love.Inspiration.Education lives in Canada. She reports fall is in full swing up there. And she shared some darling back to school looks her first week back in the classroom after 14 months of maternity leave. To the contrary, we are breaking records down here in Texas with highs near 100. I won’t be breaking out the jackets and pull-over sweaters for awhile.
Before I bid you farewell, would like to extend one more invite for you to join me for either or both the Get Your Pretty On fall and/or work wear style challenges. Read more about the premise of these fashion challenges, here. Then register for the fall challenge, which closes tonight, through my affiliate link, here.
Or register for the work wear challenge, here.
Come play dress up with me!! We can do some blog posts featuring our challenge looks. You and me. Together. On “My Fashion Haus” runway. What do you say?

I would never have thought of mixing navy, white and mint but now I’ve seen it I fell like HAVE to find a mint cardigan. How have I managed without one? 😉

I wish I could remember who to credit with the navy and mint combo! I loved it on her…whoever she is…and kept saying I was going to try it. That’s what I like about the style challenges, they kind of force me to think out of the box…or the closet! Hope you have been successful in your search for a mint cardi! I need a pic!

I love all your outfits, but my favorite is the embroidered jeans! I want a pair so bad, but can’t find a pair that fits just the way I like!

Awe. Thanks for the shout out! Seriously full on fall here today. I turned my furnace on after running my AC earlier this week. It’s cold out there. The leaves are falling. And it is now perfect hot tub season. My favourite (my spell check is freaking out over my Canadian spelling of favourite). My goal this week is to take a picture of my outfits every day.

Wow, furnace already! Crazy. They say a cold front is coming through this week. Staying up to watch the weather now. These cooler nights are perfect hot tub weather, you are right. Let’s share our five outfits on the same day!!

I need to wear that blue shirt dress more often. Thank you! I have to iron it, though, so always dread that. Need to get over being so lazy, huh? Thank you so much for your sweet words.
