Stylish fashionistas and friends,
For last month’s Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone, I talked about branching out from my Loft jeans to try the snugger fit of Old Navy’s super skinny Rockstar jeans. I have been wearing Loft jeans since I first discovered them as a part of one of the Get Your Pretty On style challenges. Until I tried Loft jeans, I really didn’t like wearing jeans much at all.
Can’t even remember what I wore BL – before Loft. The little bit of stretch in their jeans is magical and the vanity sizing appeals directly to my vain side! Even though I know I am not truly a size 6, I feel so wonderful squeezing into a size 6 at Loft. It gives me the same confident feeling that I get stepping on the scale to discover I’ve lost a pound. Knowing that it is almost always just water weight but it sure feels great for that fleeting moment.
As I mentioned in my Comfort Zone post, my bloggin’ bud Kellyann at This Blonde’s Shopping Bag introduced me to Rockstars. And I am so grateful. I still love my Lofts but my new Rockstars hold their shape so much better! My skinnies stay skinny rather than looking like the family moved out an hour after putting them on.
When I saw Kellyann wearing the mustard Rockstar jeans, I knew I had to have a pair of my own. Tried on a size 8 and a size 10 and felt more comfortable in the size 10. Had to order them because the mustard was so popular they were fresh out in size 10 in all of El Paso! They arrived a week later…
..and here they are.
Rockin’ My Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans
Remember last January how I broke my left foot putting on my pjs? I know, who does that? Well, I hadn’t planned to and had ordered these boots the week before it happened. When they arrived I was donning a different kind of boot…an orthopedic boot. And by the time my foot was healed, it was too warm to wear these over-the-knee boots. So last Saturday’s date night was the first time I had worn them.
Ordered my Unisa Saromi over the knee boots [similar, similar] last winter from DSW. Compared to the rest of me, I have smallish calves. Had read that the over-the-knee boots with laces at the top stay up better so that was one reason I picked these.
My Loft Outlet blouse [similar, similar] is old; piece from last fall’s Get Your Pretty On capsule wardrobe.
I have been looking for a fall kimono, well, since fall began. Kimonos and cardis are perfect wraps for El Paso’s spring and fall weather (even some winter days) and summer AC. A ‘fashion’ staple. Found this one at Charming Charlie’s. Had a hard time deciding between the one I ultimately chose above [similar, similar] and this one below.

Which do you like best? I have pants in that wine color and the dusty pink. Thinking maybe next payday I need to go back for this one. It would be pretty with gray, too, me thinks!
And you know all about my Old Navy Rockstar super skinny jeans. I wrote about them for last month’s Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone post. Have since ordered two more pairs, an olive and a gray. Will be showing those off in an upcoming fashion haus post soon.
My new jeans are mid-rise. Hallelujah, fashion has returned to its senses about the rise in jeans. They tried convince us that a little bit of fabric covering our behinds made them look so much smaller. There was less denim covering it, my behind looked the same size, there was just more of it hanging out for all the world to see.
I wore this outfit for date night…we went to A Christmas Fair, had a beer at the Fainting Goat, watched the Dia de los Muertos parade, and then dinner at Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant and walked around the outlet mall.
Great date night!
Your Turn
We are going to have a very special date night tonight. But will save the deets for another post. Just know that we are going to be marking off another activity from my autumn bucket list.
What plans do you have this 3 day weekend? Maybe you’re making progress on your bucket list, too. Hope whatever it is, you stay warm and safe.
Hugs and kisses,
Debs
I love this colour combination – it really is perfect for Autumn and it suits you so well. Pleased to see that you finally got to wear those over the knee boots!
Gail
Wow look at you in those sensational jeans! Great color combo. You’re getting so adventurous and it’s great to see!

Wow Leslie, this outfit is fantastic! I love all the colors and that kimono is perfection, you can wear it with so much. I’d say you knocked it out of the park in this look – stunning from head to toe. I feel the same way about ON and Loft – I used to be a walking billboard for Loft because that was I all I knew. One Old Navy stepped up their game that was it for me – Rockstars do hold their shape so much better!!! You look amazing and I say yes – get that other kimono next payday – you will wear the heck out of it! Next try ON Pixie pants – they go on sale often and you’ll love them too!
xo,
Kellyann

Leslie, you look fantastic! Absolutely wonderful . . . you must have knocked PC’s socks off when you walked out of your dressing room!
I likewise love my skinny stretch jeans, though mine are from H&M, rather than Old Navy. They run just $19.99 a pair, and appear to last forever. I own about 25 pair of them in every color under the rainbow.
So I vote for you buying more of those jeans in every color that Old Navy sells them in!

I said it before and I’ll say it again — this outfit is perfect!!!!
And I’ll second Kellyann’s suggestion: try the Pixie Pants! They’re the best. I wear them quite often.
Dara
I prefer midrise jeans too! You look great.

Thank you! I bet it was some male designer that created and pushed the low rise jean craze. Probably the son of a plumber.

Leslie, you look smashing!!! Those boots are the bomb. I never dared to even try on over the knee ones. Now I will. The colours go together so nicely. And I really think you should grab the other kimono, too, it would do wonders with the olive rockstar skinny jeans, I think.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Come on, girl, grab some over the knee boots – you’ll love how sassy they make you feel. Mine were on sale so I figured it I didn’t love them, I wouldn’t be out a fortune. And the hubs really likes them, too. Maybe come pay day, I will run get that other kimono. Thank you for the encouragement.
Laura
Kellyann introduced me to Rock Star jeans, too, and I love them!! I actually bought another pair just this weekend!! You are so cute!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
How funny that Kellyann introduced both of us to Rock Stars!!! I am in good company with the likes of the two of you fashionistas. XO
Laura
You are really rocking those jeans! I love these colors together! I have a few pairs of Rockstar jeans and they are my go-to pairs!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Wow, I guess I was living under a rock down here in El Paso. Slow to get on the Rockstar bandwagon. But now I have 3, count ’em THREE pairs!! Thank you for the sweet words. Glad to be wearing these pants with some of my fav fashionistas.
