Fashionistas, welcome! Sharing one of my new year styles straight outta…not Compton, but My Fashion Haus. Maybe you have stopped by after seeing my link with my friends at The Blended Blog, or with Carrie and Jill for their Thursday Fashion Files. Maybe you found me via Jennie’s Fabulous Friday fashion posts or Laura’s Confident Twosday. Whatever the case, welcome, welcome, welcome.
According to my stats for 2016, some of my fashion link-up posts were among the post popular with you guys out there. Ha! I think that is so cute. Because, as you can no doubt tell by the graphic featuring my fashion haus, I don’t really take myself seriously in the style department. I just kind of get dressed in the morning. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Lots of days my outfit of the day sure isn’t anything to write home about.
But here are a couple of pics of an OOTD I wore this past week that I kind of liked. New year styled.
Loft Outlet Dress for Saturday Evening Church
Skinny mirror strikes again. Better than a diet, that one! But there are other mirrors around the house (and out in the real world). They indicate that it’s a good thing I started back on 21 Day Fix and Weight Watchers this week.
This brocade-look dress was $29 at my Loft Outlet. The fabric is heavy enough to be forgiving as it skims over my lumps and bumps. And I was so glad to find something with longer sleeves. What’s the deal with sleeveless dresses and spaghetti straps in the winter? No bueno for this grandma.
Accidental Pattern-Mixing
I paired my dress with patterned tights and black pumps.
Not too sure about that pattern mixing between the tights and the dress, but had to go with the only dark tights I had. Clearly, I need to remedy that situation.
Kohl’s Fitted Trench and Elle Black Bag
I added my Kohl’s fitted black trench and Kohl’s Elle black bag, and we were off to church and dinner afterward.
This little trench found me shortly after I saw the movie “Silver Linings Playbook”, in which Jennifer Lawrence wears a very similar coat.

Doesn’t she look sensational? But I bet mine was cheaper…wait…is that something to brag about? Ooops. Oh, well, $40 at Kohl’s.
After Church
After church Saturday night, we drove through downtown El Paso to check out the Christmas lights. Good thing we did, because they were taken down the following evening. It was a dazzling display.
Now I can mark that activity off my winter bucket list. You can read more about that list, here and here. I will be putting together another winter bucket list progress report very soon.
Virtual Fashion Show
Below I’ve pulled together some pieces similar to those “styled” above. Take a peek to see if there is anything in this virtual fashion show below that catches your eye.
There you have it, my first dress new year styled. And with that, I am calling it a post and a day. Tomorrow is Friday and we have a three-day weekend to enjoy. Thankful that we can celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his accomplishments for civil rights and equality for all. Been talking a lot about that at school this week. Good stuff.
Hugs and kisses,
dsimair

What an incredible deal on that dress! And it looks amazing on you! I love the brocade fabric. The trench is fabulous too. I am definitely one that thinks bragging about getting a better deal is a very good thing!
Brenda @ Chatting Over Chocolate
Your dress is lovely and I love that you had some accidental pattern mixing going on too! – Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com

Thank you, sweet Brenda, for stopping by and leaving a comment. My pattern-mixing might be a little overboard for my grandmotherly tastes but it seems to be all the rage. XO
Carrie
Wow, Leslie! That dress is beautiful. So classy and sophisticated.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Sophisticated! Oh, I love that word. Thank you, Carrie. I need to wear it once a week, me thinks! XO
Lisa
I like the texture mixing with the brocade dress and tights. A perfect look on you! And, again, you are too funny – glad it is straight outta the fashion haus and not Compton.

Doused In Pink

Thank you, Jill. I think I might need to pick up some plain tights just in case these chevron babies pattern-clash
with whatever I am wearing.
Jennie
Oh, I am so loving this dress, Leslie! I was just at my Loft Outlet and did not see anything like this because if I had you and I could be twins. I happen to like the pattern mix of the dress and your tights. Thanks so much for linking up with Fabulous Friday!
A Pocketful of Polka Dots

Thanks, Jennie. Our Loft Outlet is really terrific. I prefer it to our Loft store. The outlet had a rack of fabulous dresses for $19
when I was in there last but I told myself I can’t buy another dress til I get more wear out of the ones I have now. As a result, I
wore a dress and a skirt to work this week. Yay!
Lana
I think the pattern mixing is perfect. Lovely dress on you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, Lana! So glad to find a long-sleeved dress for the winter. What is with sleeveless dresses in December???
