Sweet fashionistas,
Step into my fashion haus. But this time you won’t have to watch out for the cobwebs and dust bunnies. I may not have been in here since March for a fashion haus post. (That was when I shared my extremely early or somewhat belated Valentine’s Day outfit. Remember this cute little tulle skirt?) But I have been in my fashion haus to do some spring cleaning. Click the link to see some of my fav spring cleaning tools. You can probably smell that sweet lavender essential oil I used, mixed with baking soda, to freshen the mattress.
But wait. Are you scratching your head wondering why in the world there would be a mattress in my fashion haus? Well, sometimes it has to double as a guest bedroom!
Today, however, I bumped the ironing board out of the way, hid the basket of wrinkled clothing just to make room for you. So, welcome!
My Olive Pants Fit!
Girls, I know it’s hard to believe. My olive pants fit. Both pairs. Crazy, huh? Have pinched myself til my arm is bruised over here. But they really, truly fit. Even after a broken foot and two very lazy months. Even after multiple trips out of town. They FIT!!
I bought the first pair as an item on the spring 2017 (yes, a year ago) Get Your Pretty On Style Challenge. They were snug when I bought them. So I hung them in the closet and shut the door, ignoring them. Bought the second pair on sale about a month later. Yes, I remembered the first pair. But hoped this second pair would be more comf til I could squeeze into the first pair. You do that, too, right?
Well, today, I felt very brave and slightly slender. I tell you, that MiraLax is a miracle! Decided to try on the chubby (as in more likely to fit if I’m chubby) pair. They fit! Then decided to step away from the mirror and try on the skinny (as in very doubtful they will ever fit) pair and THEY FIT! It may never happen again so I snapped some pics.
I give you the skinny pair, first. Because I bought them first.
Loft olive cargo pants, Target “A New Day” tee, K-Mart (you read that right) pink loafers, Target sandals, Target “Gilligan & O’Malley” no-show panty, gifted tassle necklace (both from my sister). Included the panties because of the rule…your panties need to match your outfit. Proof positive mine do! And my new fav spring fragrance “In the Sun” by Bath and Body Works.
And now, the chubby pair. Same size, supposedly. Slightly different shade of olive.
Pretty much ‘ditto’ on the outfit. These olive pants are Loft, too. But left off the panties in this pic. 🙂
I could call it a post here but thought you might like to see proof that I actually got these puppies over my hips and behind. Here ya go.
The Proof is in the Pudding or the Pics
I was feeling rather cocky and full of myself, once I realized both olive pants fit. Took so many photos that I was late for my 10:00 am doctor appointment. They do say ‘pride goeth before the fall’.
Took this picture before I finished my make-up, I was that excited! These are the skinny ones even! Looking heavenward in gratitude.
You can see the clothes to be ironed in the background. Didn’t get them moved far enough out of the way.
This is the chubby pair.
Now the ironing is out of the way but the spray starch photo-bombed.
Then I really got out of control and tried my hand at the sloppy tuck or the half tuck. I have created a monster. Be sure to click the pics for the full effect.
Quite obnoxious, huh?
And if that wasn’t enough, I am loving my LipSense. Thank you to my reps, Carrie at A Stylish Fit and my GYPO friend, Wendy. Everyone said, ‘order Bella’. So, I did. And I love it.
They don’t call me Ole Chipmunk Cheeks for nothin’.
If you haven’t tried LipSense, please consider doing so. I am sold.
So, there you have it. The Tale of Two Pairs of Olive Pants…that fit. For now. I was so thrilled, I celebrated with chicken strips, fries, cole slaw from Cane’s. I’ll be right back out of these pants in record time. But that’s half the fun!
For Your Window Shopping Consideration
Have gathered some similar pieces for you to peruse below. By clicking on any or all of the images, I earn a few cents. Thank you for having a quick look!
Your Turn
Do you have anything in your closet that’s been hanging there waiting for a skinny day? Please tell me I am not the only one. Wanna take bets on how long I can wear these before they are retired to the back of the closet again. We are going to a baseball game tomorrow night, out to eat after church on Saturday night and I bought cookie mix and a cheesecake this afternoon at Walmart. I give ’em a good week. If I don’t dry them in the dryer.
Thanks for coming by, girls. I hope you can tell that I don’t take myself seriously when it comes to ‘fashion’ or ‘style’. I just like to have fun.
Linking-up with my fashion mentors, Carrie at Curly, Crafty Mom and Jennie at A Pocketful of Polka Dots. These gals know how to dress. Keep hoping their sense of style will rub off on me.
Hugs and kisses,
Nancy Baten
I love olive pants, the colour always has something edgy! And it goes with every colour. Have a great day!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Nancy. Olive does goes with everything and has to be one of my favorites. But your colorful dress today made me eager to try to where more brights!

Yay, YOU!
Love your outfits! I wish we still had a Kmart…I spent half of my life in that store (give or take).
Congrats on the pants! Oh, I save SOOO many pairs of things hoping I can revisit them…always the bottoms. I have beaucoup booty, thought, so…(sigh).
Like you, I expected to not be able to fit into any of my pants after the knee thing. But my appetite blessedly tanked along with the injury and I lost a bag and a half of flour (I always equate poundage to things in my pantry 🙂 )
Anyway, after losing the poundage, I found them over the winter. Long live pizza! (And there needs to be a formal movement to change the name of March to “Munch.”)
“Chubbie” pair or skinny pair, you look svelte and snappy!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I should write a follow up post to my olive pants piece because my lilac pants didn’t fit nor did my new camos! Ha! One step forward, two steps back. I can almost always wear one size in all things from Loft but these new lilac pants must be cut differently. Can’t decided whether to take them back or try to get into them!
We compare added poundage to food stuffs, too. Usually a turkey. As in, if I could just lose a Thanksgiving turkey, I’d be in good shape.
Thank you for the sweet words. I better try on those olive pants again; may have outgrown them already.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the early morning giggles from your comment. My behind is more generous than anything else on my body. When I had a smaller waist, it was really hard to find pants that fit at all. Now that I am thicker everywhere, oh, joy, I find that I can wear Loft pants in one size consistently. Simplifies things.
Hoping, now that we are out of Munch (ha) and April, that I can start swimming and reduce a little of my ample behind. Join me!! We can inspire one another. And come join in for the stepping outside our comfort zone posts. The next one will be 05.31, mark your calendar. You can talk about anything you like. Just come play!

You look fabulous!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, friend!! I felt fancy…even in a tee and cargo pants!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Muchas gracias, amiga mia!!

Yeah for questionable pants fitting! I totally get this, and do much the same so you are definitely not alone. I have a pair of shorts I use as a barometer of whether or not it’s safe to get on the scale, ha!
My skinny pants all fit, but the three pairs of white and cream ones that I own only get worn if I’m in my 120’s. I’m almost there, so hopefully they will see the light of day multiple times in the months ahead.
Congrats again missy, you look absolutely wonderful!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
YOU look so healthy, and fit and trim. Oh, my goodness!! I will never see the 120s again. I would be happy to get below 140. Much below, though, and my clothes will be too big and I can’t afford new ones. Great reason to stay chubby!! I can rationalize anything.
Thank you for your sweet compliment and support. I tried on two more pairs of pants and they were terribly snug, so it seems my celebration may have been premature. Will eat well this week and try again.
Karen Strand
Oh how I can relate to this post my friend!! I have separate sections of my closet for what fits and what I “hope” will fit soon! In all honesty, you are my inspiration for getting on the Weight Watchers wagon. You are always talking about counting your points and you look great so here I am – 2 weeks in and just under 5lbs down! YAY!! Thanks in part to YOU Leslie!! Now I’m going to see if I can find those darling pink loafers you showed in you pics.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You, my friend, made my day! What a sweet note to discover. I have overindulged this weekend and probably eat my way right back out of my olive pants, possibly both pairs. Back to tracking points tomorrow. I truly believe WW is the easiest, most realistic way to manage and lose weight. You pick want you want to eat and do the math to balance what you eat with your points allowance. Pretty doable.
Good luck finding the pink loafers. They are so comfy and have been one of the few pairs of shoes I have been able to wear comfortably with my broken foot. They were $14 at KMart this time last year.
Always such a treat to hear from you. XO

I too bought some olive trousers last year – hardly wore them, rediscovered them a few weeks ago and now I’m wearing them all the time! Love the colour, it’s surprising how many other colours go with them and yes, I was surprised when mine still fit me too! I haven’t yet mastered the sloppy tuck – but you look great!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aren’t olive pants the best. They really do go well with everything. Yay for rediscovering your pair in the closet.
Jodie
Yay for skinny days—isn’t that the best feeling, Leslie???
And I’m loving Lipsense too. It’s so nice not to worry that my lipstick will be all over my teeth all the time!!!
XOXO

Well, Jodie, just like that my olive pants are tight again. A weekend of good eating and overindulgence. Back to the drawing board and treadmill. XOXO

Yay! Olive pants are the best! I can’t believe it has taken me so long to buy a pair. Like, seriously, not until this year. Now I have to figure out your secret because my pants don’t fit. At all. Not even a little bit. LOL
By the way, I chuckled at the panty thing because, yeah, I do it too. It makes me feel all put together, ya know?
Leslie Roberts Clingan
WE ARE SO ALIKE, bless your heart!! Maybe it is all because we are librarians. Maybe librarians kind of catalog their panties to go with their outfits. Somehow Dewey related? I don’t know, but I can’t just open the draw and grab a pair. And sometimes it’s quite the dilemma when I am down to a few pairs in the lingerie drawer that do come close to matching anything I own. Definitely time to do laundry then!
Gail
It’s a wonderful moment when you can wear something you previously couldn’t. Heck, I have lots of skinny stuff which I haven’t worn for a while. I even bought some of the dreaded Spanx to make sure I would look OK in one of the dresses chosen for a wedding I’m going to! Well done on the olive pants, they look superb – and love the half tuck!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Gail, I have Spanx and more Spanx. Most of the time, I forget to wear it but when I do, I feel like the whole world can tell I have it on. On me, there’s always a line where it sucks in everything above but lets everything below just hang out. I look like a balloon animal! You always look so smooth and shapely. I am sure you will rock that dress for the wedding. We will need photos, of course. And you could show it off on our May 31 stepping outside my comfort zone post!!
Lysha
These are so cute! I’ve been looking for an army green jacket, but just don’t want to pay an arm and leg for one. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! I hope I can still wear them after the big weekend I had. Maybe at least the chubby olive pants will fit. I found my olive jacket at Dress Barn. I think you can probably find a reasonably priced one there or Kohl’s or JCP. When you find it, link up with us for our next stepping outside our comfort zone on 05.31. Show us how you styled it!

Yay! I’m so happy for you! Fitting into pants that were once too small is SUCH a great feeling. And you are looking great in your olive pants. I especially love them with those loafers!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks, baby girl! My pink KMart loafers are surprisingly comfy. A lot of my fav shoes are feeling too snug on my broken foot still. But the pink ones and an olive green pair of loafers feel the best. Might be wearing them a lot for awhile.
Lisa Richardson
Oh my gosh, you are so funny! I love it. YES, I have some things I hold on to just to see if I can fit back in them. LOL It sure makes you feel good when you can. I have those same sandals from Target and have worn them to death. Congrats on fitting in your pants! Thanks for joining the Fabulous Friday link up! XO
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You sweet thing! Thank you so much for taking time to stop by my blog. I received a pair of pants from Loft on Saturday in the same size I always wear at Loft and guess what? I couldn’t get my big toe in them! Not sure I have the energy to diet and exercise enough to ever make that happen. If you see me in lilac pants, you will know i was successful. Thank you for visiting and leaving me this kind comment. XO

It is always wonderful to find that some of those “hidden away” clothes fit. Yesterday, I revived a “shortish” floral jean skirt and t-shirt to wear to school. As a “grandmotherly”
teacher-librarian, I was unsure but they fit and I got compliments. Olive/khaki pants are very useful and I hope you enjoy yours. I’m often hungry since returning to work and I know how easy it is to eat one’s self out of a wardrobe.
