Welcome back to my fashion haus, fashionistas. Sit down a bit and take the load off those stilettos. Today I am linking up with Dani at Family.Love.Inspiration and Jamie at No Delusions of Grandeur to share more of our favorite looks from the Get Your Pretty On (GYPO) 2018 summer style challenge.
Earlier in the summer, the three of us and our mutual friend Michael Ann from Out and Back came together for a similar post. We all styled the look for Day 7 of the GYPO summer challenge. The formula for that outfit was a bright top, denim skirt and kimono. Something we all really enjoyed wearing. You can revisit my earlier post, here.
I really liked all of the pieces in this summer capsule wardrobe. Some of the items on this season’s list are pictured on the graphic below.
Not pictured above but my surprise favorite was the gingham. On the shopping list it was suggested we look for a gingham skirt. So, being the good and ever obedient girl that I am, that’s exactly what I did. But there wasn’t one check of gingham to be found in El Paso. I left no stone, no store unturned. Had to resort to online shopping.
Gingham
Finally found a cute ruffled gingham skirt at AnnTaylor.com Then, wouldn’t you know it, all of the summer challenge participants starting sharing their great gingham pants. I knew I had to have a pair of them, too. Back to the laptop. Found cropped gingham pants at GapFactory.com.
Kellyann at This Blonde’s Shopping Bag featured a darling pink and white gingham top from Yoins. Had to have it to complete the gingham trifecta…top, pants, skirt. Immediately ordered it online after reading it was wrinkle-free. I’ve told you about my ironing piles, surely. If not, just envision Mt. Everest.
Yeah, that’s me before I started ironing. This simple little chore has turned my hair brown. Okay gray. Who am I fooling? You’ve all seen my photos.
Here’s how I am styling the gingham I have copied from everyone else.
Gingham Skirt
I shared this look in my last summer challenge post. Haven’t worn this skirt again since but only because I haven’t gone anywhere truly skirt-worthy. Hoping we will go to church this Saturday night to rectify that.
Gingham Pants
As opposed to the skirt, I have worn my gingham pants several times. First to pick up my sister from the airport with my Chico’s “60 years bold” tee, as seen on many of the members of the Forever Fierce Revolution.
The second time I wore these pants was for a job interview. And I got the job! What? I didn’t tell you? Well, I was saving it for a surprise. But yes, I am working part-time now. Will tell you more in my upcoming Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone post going live on 07.31.2018.
Gingham Top
I wore my gingham top for our anniversary date hop. Felt so feminine in it. The off-the-shoulder detailing of this blouse makes it so sassy and flirty. PC doesn’t usually like things with a lot of ruffles and fuss and bother but he liked this top. What do you think?
Because I knew we were going to be walking downtown, I slipped some pink flats into my purse, just in case. But PC was happy that I wore heels most of the night. It was a great night.
Your Turn
Do you have any gingham yet? If so, what pieces and where did you find them? Did you have to resort to ordering online? I am always a little hesitant to buy anything without trying it on…except groceries. But I was pleased that all three of my gingham pieces were to true to size.
If you haven’t tried gingham, allow me to share a few pieces that I have gathered for this post. By clicking on the images, you enable me to earn a few cents. Thank you!

No, I don’t have any gingham – yet. Obviously I need to get shopping! I love those gingham trousers (still can’t call them pants!) especially as they brought you good luck – do tell us more about your new adventure.
That pink top is adorable, looks so cool and fresh with the white. I am such a dirt magnet I don’t own white trousers, I wouldn’t make it past the front door without something happening to them, but everyone else looks great in them.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so behind on reading comments and responding to them on my blog. Can’t seem to get everything done these days. Please forgive me!
My gingham trousers were good luck! And are so comfy. You do need to adopt some gingham for your closet and then share it with us!! I have seen a lot of all white, monochromatic looks lately. Have tried that once, but I am a dirt magnet, too. Going to give it a go again this weekend, though, I think. Will let you know how stained and dirty I get.
Em
The style challenges seem like fun….especially for me who sees style, in general, as a challenge. I love your gingham pants. I picked up gingham shorts at Old Navy and they are a family favorite…so of course I wear them as often as possible.
But I ADORE your date outfit. WOWZA! You look out-of-the-park fabulous. I always enjoy your fashion posts but that outfit was striking!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, sweet Em, for your kind words about my gingham outfits. I have fallen behind on my blog reading and commenting to comments/posting comments!! Please forgive me.
If you are ever interested in doing a style challenge…and fall is the best one to do, except up there in Buffalo, you would probably get good use out of the winter challenge where I don’t as much here in Texas…back to what I was saying, if you are ever interested in doing a style challenge, holler. We would have fun doing one together. And we could share our looks on our blogs. Come play dress up with me!

Hi Leslie, I did buy a Kimono after your last posting…and got very positive comments wearing it!
Not sure about gingham pants though…I’ve got a few pairs of cute black & white trousers in the closet already and never seem to pull them out. Maybe I just need to shop my own closet!
Absolutely love the pink & white with the pink heels! (even if it’s not gingham).
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Girl, I am so glad you bought a kimono. Aren’t they great? Perfect wrap for most of the year-round. Hoping to find some pretty fall ones.
Get those black and white trousers out and wear them. Try them with pink. So oo-la-la.
I am so sorry to be so behind on reading comments on my blog. Just can’t get it all done lately. Hope you will forgive me.
Jamie Moore
I love love love your gingham pants! I just couldn’t find a pair that fit me right! Boo! I think you rocked this challenge, my friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please forgive me for being so delinquent in responding to comments on my blog. Getting slow and (more) feeble minded in my old age. I sure enjoyed the summer challenge pieces and hooking up with you for a few posts showing off our outfits. You always create the cutest interpretations of the outfits.
Laura
Gingham has been everywhere this summer and I have LOVED it! LOVE how you styled yours, too! Have a great weekend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please forgive me! I am so behind on reading comments and responding to them on my blog. Can’t seem to get everything done these days. Thank you for the sweet comment on my gingham outfits. I love my pants and need to get that skirt back on and wear it some more. Maybe I can talk PC into taking out in it this weekend.
Dara
I love the gingham pants! Congrats on the job!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Dara, for your congratulations on the job. I am so behind on my reading and blogging and commenting because of it!! Ha! But enjoying going to work again.
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
I love gingham so much, but I don’t think it looks that great on me. Those pants are just so so cute, and I love the one paired with the orangy/peach color top. I might have to try and add some gingham to my collection. Yay for a new job, can’t wait to hear all about it! Happy Weekend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey sugar foot! I have fallen waaaaay behind on reading and responding to comments on my blog and reading and commenting on the blogs of others. I don’t know where my days go!
Thank you for the sweet words about my gingham pants and orange top. I really liked the gingham trend this year and hope it will hang around a few seasons. Think we can figure out a way to wear it in the fall? With a sweater maybe? I was very hesitant to try the gingham pants because I don’t like calling any more attention to my behind than necessary. But I have decided to wear them in spite of my butt, and just walk out of rooms backward so no one has to see my butt in black and white checks!
Jodie
I’ve been on a gingham kick lately too!! It’s such a fun, summery print!!
XOXO

I asked Alison at GYPO to show us how to style gingham on into fall. I guess autumn colored sweaters and cardi with gingham would be a start. I bet you could create some great inspiration for me!
Danielle Park
Omg I love all your gingham pieces. I had trouble finding them here in Regina as well. Your outfit for your job interview is my favourite. I also love your skirt. Super cute. And your graphic T is fabulous! Love it. Thanks for inviting me on this. I’m hoping to take pictures everyday starting next week before I head back to work in 4 weeks. That’s my hope anyways.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey doll!! I am so sorry to be so delinquent in responding to comments on my blog. All of a sudden it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day. Well, maybe not all of a sudden, but it is worse than ever. And with these temps, all I want to do is take a nap.
Thank you for the sweet words about my gingham outfits. I hope to get more wear out of them before it is time to move them to the back of the closet til spring. I need to run by your blog to see if you have been sharing outfits. So behind on blog reading, too. Hope you have a fabulous weekend of camping and that your tent is enveloped in a cold front making it more like 20*C rather than the forecast of much warmer days.
Nancy Baten
I love Gingham! Shelbee and I had that as a theme for out series! I love your skirt!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I really meant to link up with you and Shelbee for your gingham post. Can’t seem to get everything done these days. Do you think we can wear our gingham on into early fall? Would love to see how you would style it.
Rebecca Jo
I never tire of gingham.
Loving all yours! Especially those black & white pants. I’d wear those all summer long!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
am so behind on reading comments and responding to them on my blog. Can’t seem to get everything done these days. Please forgive me! Thank you for the sweet words about my gingham. I have enjoyed wearing it this summer and will to move it to the back of the closet come summer’s end.
Cindi
You look so pretty!
I love one of your shirts.
The one that says you are 06 years old.
Where can I buy one of those?
LOL!
I don’t have any gingham in my clothing collection.
I just love the way it looks.
Good job!
Gotta go shopping now. 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey, I am so behind on reading comments and responding to them on my blog. Please forgive me! Can’t seem to get everything done these days. I ordered my 60 years bold tee from Chico’s. It was $29, I think. They have been so popular that it took a couple of months for me to get it. Should have ordered an assortment…61, 62!
Daenel T.
I bought a gingham top just before we moved here because I loved one that Kelly Ann has. That’s not very specific, because she has a lot.
Your gingham pants are cute. I love it with the pink. I always think of red with gingham bottoms. I don’t know why though. Because the brighter colors actually look prettier and fresher.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please forgive me! So behind on comment reading and commenting on comments!!! I loved your white outfit with the gingham you bought after seeing it on Kellyann. Blue and white check, if I remember correctly. And white shorts. Great outfit.
ShootingStarsMag
I love all of these – and they look great on you. I think my favorite are the pants though. I don’t have any gingham, but I’m on the look out. I’d really like a kimono too!

Leslie Roberts Clingan
Please forgive me! I am so behind on my reading and blogging and commenting. You have to get a kimono. Have to. Have to. Did I say that enough? Have to! You will wonder what took so long. Amazon had great deals on kimonos. They are the perfect spring-summer-fall wrap. Would love to find one in the burnished colors of autumn. If you come across one, holler!!

I’m not normally a fan of gingham, but I do like your gingham pants – they look great on you – very 1950’s (in a good way). I hope you keep getting plenty of wear out of your three choices – they look like they’d each suit different occasions so that makes them great additions to your wardrobe.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You made me smile about the gingham pants looking ’50’s. I am a baby boomer from the ’50’s myself. Really enjoyed wearing my gingham pants. Hoping one of the big time fashionistas will share how to take them into fall so I can keep wearing them a little longer. Thank you for coming by!!
Gail
I love gingham – such a fun fabric, seems to shout “summer!” I love your pants! My, what beauts. The skirt is lush too but I’ve got one very similar so it’s the pants I’ve got my eye on.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so behind on my reading and blogging and commenting! Darn work. But I love it! Have you found any gingham pants yet? I am hoping to get some more wear out of mine before summer comes to a close. They are very comfy and look dressier, I think, than my blue jeans. Loved your green/mint? wedding ensemble. Oh, Gail, you were pretty as a picture in that outfit!
amy
I absolutely love all these gingham looks! The only gingham item I own is a gingham bag; which i love. I wouldn’t mind a pair of gingham shoes, but as for clothing, I prefer it on other women and not me. I always feel like I’m wearing a tablecloth. haha! Everyone else looks amazing in it! Congrats on the new job.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am so behind on my blogging, please forgive me! I remember your darling gingham bag. And I thought you had a pair of gingham shoes but I guess not. I was afraid I’d be very self-conscious in the print across my behind but turns out I’m not!! Bet you would rock a pair of gingham pants.
Jennie
Oh, so many pretty and fabulous gingham pieces! Your skirt is just gorgeous! I love the pants and can see they are really versatile. You look so very pretty in pink and white! I have been in love with gingham this year and cannot get enough of it.
Congratulations on the new job!!!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey Angel, thank you for the congrats on the new job. I am enjoying it but just scared I don’t work fast enough. Was asked if I could type 40 wpm and I think I can, but this is not typing documents, but filling in templates at which I am much slower. Ugh. Beginning to get the hang of it, though. I hope.
Thank you for the sweet remarks about my gingham. I have truly (surprisingly) loved it this spring and summer. Sad to think I will have to move it to the back of the closet…unless you or Jodie or Carrie or Laura can show us how to wear it year round!! Hint, hint!
Laura
You are rocking those gingham pieces! I absolutely love your gingham pants. They look great with the graphic tee and your bright top! Congrats on the part time job! Headed over to read more about it on your other post!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thanks so much for the congrats on my job. I am worried that they are going to give me the boot because I am slow at inputting info into the database. I am getting faster but maybe not to the degree they would like for the time I have been there. I am going to be sad if this falls through. And embarrassed. And sad! And SAD!
Thank you for the sweet words about my gingham. I am so behind on answering comments on my blog. Please forgive me. Hope to get a few more months of wear out of it before I pack it away for late fall and winter. Sure did love your paper bag pants!!
