Fashionistas and Back-to-School-ers,
Welcome back to “My Fashion Haus” for a peek at what I wore the first day of school. Yup, you heard-well, read-right. I went back to school yesterday. I had the good fortune of being called for another long-term library sub job. And coincidentally (although you know what I say about coincidences), it is back at the school where I first worked in El Paso. Jefferson High School. Home of the Silver Foxes. Or as it is affectionately called former foxes “La Jeff”.
I was excited to plan my back-to-school outfit. I laid it out the night before (ok, several nights before and visited it every night). Even broke out my new Sony camera to take pics of the pieces in a flat layout. And then had my Prince help me learn how to use my iPhone as a remote for the camera. I was excited.
So enough of my blabbering. Let me climb up on this cat walk and strut my stuff.
That’s a whole lotta color going on, huh? Kind of like a pitcher of tropical punch. Or a bowl of fruit cocktail. Felt like I was wearing a vacation.
My cold-shoulder top is from Boston Proper. Loft Outlet ankle pants. Two Miche purses. “Candie’s” sandals from Kohl’s and DSW “Mix No. 6” pink flats. My tassel necklace is from Charming Charlie.
Reminds me of this little guy from my childhood. How’d you like a nice Hawaiian punch?

There you go! Tutti-frutti fun.
I could hardly wait to wear it. But was so scared my cold-shoulder top wouldn’t fit. So waited until the morning of the first day of school before trying it on. Not sure what I would have done if it didn’t fit. Hadn’t put together a Plan B. But it fit, it fit!!
Hey, wait a sec…those aren’t the shoes in my flat layout. What the????
Actually, I decided to wear heels on my first day back to work. Wanted to look like a fancy lady. And chose peep-toe pumps because I had this cute pedicure going on.
Please excuse my splayed toes…at least they aren’t webbed in-between. Try to focus on those cute little flowers complete with a diamonds in the center.
And an up-close photo of the other end.
Finally, after owning my camera for about three months, I am learning to use it. Thanks to my PC’s patient help. Now I am able to move my fashion haus outdoors.
How ’bout that sassy cold-shoulder? Hubba, hubba, huh?
Going to have to practice hiding the iPhone that I am using as a remote for my camera. It took three tries to get this picture with the iPhone out of sight and me standing upright, looking at the camera. But I ask you again, how ’bout that cold-shoulder? And there’s a matching one on the other side.
Have you tried baring your shoulders this summer? Or do you have a bright floral top you’d like to share? If so, link up with us on The Blended Blog or post a pic on Instagram using #theblendedblogstyle.
Tuesday’s second day of school outfit was slightly less dressy and today, it’s jeans and tennies. But no matter what I am wearing, I am glad to be back to work among books and babies.
hApPy hUmP DaY, friends!
Hugs and kisses,

Looks great Leslie! And YOU look great! So glad you got this new job! Quite a change to go from elementary to high school though, huh??
Leslie Clingan
How sweet, Sheila. Thank you. It is a big change to go back up to high school but I call all of the kids my babies…these babies are just a little bigger.
Mary
Love the cold shoulder look on you! Great to hear about your long term sub job.
Leslie Clingan
Thank you, Mary! I love being back in the library, as you know. Felt kind of exposed in my cold-shoulder top but it’s just shoulders I am baring!! Crazy.
Sharon
Love this outfit on you skinny girl! I’ve bought several cold shoulder tops and love them! You look beautiful! 👍
Leslie Clingan
Thank you, BFF. The mirror tells big lies about how skinny I am not! I am thinking I need another cold shoulder top. Where did you get yours?
Jill
What a pretty outfit! The colors are just gorgeous! Congrats on your sub job!

Thank you! So glad to be working and back in a library again. I loved the colors in this outfit, too. Felt like I was wearing watermelon, cantaloupe, papaya and mago. Just one big fruit salad.
Deena
I love all the colour!! Makes me happy just looking at it.
Leslie Clingan
Thank you, Deena, it made me happy wearing it. I think PC might have thought this was over the top but I liked it.
Whitney @ Whitney à la mode

What a nice compliment, Lisa! I try to dispel the grumpy, frumpy old librarian stereotype whenever I can. Thank you!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
I bought a cold shoulder but have yet to wear it…but I”m obsessed with them. Yours looks GREAT! Perfect first day outfit.
Leslie Clingan
Where did you find your cold shoulder top, Sarah? I am looking for another. I found this one for $19 on Boston Proper but it was a rare and drastic sale. Get your out, girl. We need pics!
Andrea Nine
Oh how you shine in bright colors!! Those kiddos are lucky to be graced by your savvy presence. And fantastically stylish as well!!

Lana
Such a perfect outfit to go back to work. So bright and pretty, just like you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You sweet thing! Thank you, Lana. I felt good getting dressed up for work. Going to wear dresses and skirts this week. Yay!
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Great back-to-school outfit! I really love the colors and the top is so pretty! I had to laugh when I read that you didn’t try the top on until the morning of because you were fearful it wouldn’t fit…
Good luck with the new job!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I am always worried about fit except for the things I buy at Loft. For some reason I can buy from Loft online and in the store without trying things on because their size 8 fits me. Always. Sometimes I can squeeeeeze into a 6 and sometimes, in their modern cut slacks, I can also wear a 10 but size 8 is a sure bet. When I order from other places, I am never sure. I am going to commit to wearing more dresses and skirts this fall at my current sub job. It is in a high school so I shouldn’t be crawling around on the floor too much with sophomores and juniors!
Christy
You look great leslie! The pumps really did dress up the outfit. Great choice.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Christy. I felt like a fancy lady in this get-up!
Katie
Hot, Hot, Hot!!! Love when you give us the cold shoulder Leslie!! 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You flatter me and I love you for it!!!
