Baby, it’s cold outside! El Pasoans don’t do winter…mostly because we don’t have to. But for the last three days, our daytime temps have hovered just above freezing. Then slipping into the low 20s at night. Yet no snow. In fact, more fluffy white flakes have fallen on my blog than have at my house. Without snow, winter’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Here’s how I dressed to stay warm today as I ventured out for painting class at Hobby Lobby.
Faux Fur Vest
I’ve had my Target Mossimo fur vest for several years. Bought it as a trending piece on a Get Your Pretty On style challenge shopping list. But it just seemed crazy to wear fur on winter days past when I was running the AC in the car. In fact, I was going to begin my closet purge with this piece!
This morning, though, it was so cold that I dreaded leaving my warm bed to shower and dress for the day. So I pulled the covers up a little longer and continued blog reading. And that’s when I came across Whitney’s post at Whitney à la Mode and became inspired to give my fur vest a try.
Here are the pieces I paired with it.
Decided to go with layers in case temperatures warmed drastically in the afternoon. Started with an Old Navy beige and white striped, long-sleeve tee, pulling over it, a warm tweedy, Target Merona turtle-neck sweater.
Added a little sparkle with my glittery striped socks and some pearl and gold toned earrings that looked a little like icicles hanging from my ears. My old favorites – Loft relaxed boyfriend jeans – beckoned from the closet to finish up this outfit.
Aren’t those little ballet flats cute? Really wanted to wear them for the first time today. But my tootsies were almost numb with the cold. Decided my Columbia hiking booties were a more practical option.
Thought by posing in my ‘coastal’ blue guest bedroom, I might warm up a little before heading for painting class. But the thaw was fleeting.
Faux Fur Vest Street Style
Got to Hobby Lobby and painting class was canceled. Too cold to paint? I was so disappointed. The epitome of all dressed up and nowhere to go.
Just signed up to participate in 52Frames, a weekly photo challenge. Since I was warmly dressed, decided to take to the streets in search of photo ops for this week’s prompt, “leading lines”.
While it wasn’t what I had planned to do today, it was fun walking around downtown. And my faux fur vest kept me very warm. So, I am going to give it a reprieve from the giant closet purge penciled in for next week. In fact, I might just need a another faux fur vest! Here’s a faux fur fashion show of some of my favorite finds.
By clicking on the images in the slideshow and doing a little window shopping, you enable me to earn a few cents a click. Hope you’ll take a closer look at these cute pieces. I’m kind of liking the faux suede and shearling vests myself.
Have you tried the faux fur trend? If so, how have you styled your fur pieces? What are you wearing to stay warm this winter? I was really surprised at how snuggly warm I was in this outfit today. Didn’t even mind being outside, in the sunshine, that is.
Thank you for a sharing a moment of your day with me. Hope you will stop back by on Friday for a Title Talk book review. Until then, stay warm!
Hugs and kisses,
