Fashionistas,
Welcome to my humble haus of fashion!
I like this photo. It kind of represents me, a little worse for wear but still standing on a strong foundation. I imagine if I had a fashion haus, like the
it would look something like the house in this picture, more of a fashion shack, if you will. I appreciate the constrast of the weathered boards with the gingerbread trim and the bric-a-brac above the windows.
It has been awhile since I featured any of the outfits I have been wearing so I decided today was the day. Before you set your expectations too high, let me warn you, it’s not like I have been dressing to go anywhere special, or fancy. These are just my versions of some combinations of summer challenge pieces with my own twist.
During the Get Your Pretty On Summer Style 2015 Challenge, read more here, Alison encouraged us to wear white on white. She added that the look was (white) hot! In the sample outfit provided, Alison featured a white tank top, white eyelet shorts, and wedges. She completed the look with a turquoise ring and filigree, gold earrings.
Nobody does white on white better than Katie at The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life. Check her out!
Isn’t that one cute outfit on one cute fashionista? Love the pop of the orange. I need to remember to pull out my long-sleeved tees once the temps dip below triple digits. Love this look and this gal!
Here’s my white on white ensemble, which other than the color white, has not much else in common with Alison’s adorable sample look.
I also refer to this as my Zooey Deschanel look. Not that I have any idea what Zooey does or does not wear but something about the way my hair looks on this particular day made me think of her. You will have to close one eye and squint the other to see the likeness.

Yeah, ok, not so much.
The ingredients for my outfit are: one pair curvy, white, straight leg jeans from Loft, one white, graphic tee from Loft and some Simply Vera, Vera Wang black sandals from Kohl’s. My cross necklaces were gifts from my daughters and my statement earrings are from Charming Charlie’s. Click on the little bullet icons above to be taken to stores to shop for the same or similar pieces.
Another look that I created without following guidelines anywhere was the next little number. I am seeing denim skirts make a return to the fashion scene, so I think that is a trend but from there, I made this outfit my own.
My “girls” make reading any graphic tee I wear somewhat of a challenge. Too many rolling hills, if you know what I mean. This one says “Look for the Silver Lining”. Now that I study this first photo, I realize that my girls are not a perfectly matched set. The one on my left (right in the photo) appears to be heading south. Hopefully, just for the winter.
My tee is from H&M. The denim skirt is a new purchase online from Macy’s. I have two of these skirts, a dark wash and a sea glass, light blue. The light blue has tummy control panel, not that I need it or anything, but just in case. Right now they are both on sale for $35.99 each with an extra 20% off. Click on the target to be taken to the Macy’s site.
My cowboy boots were a gift from PC for our anniversary in July. It is probably pretty standard to pair them with denim, even a denim skirt, but I thought the graphic tee made the whole outfit a little more fun.
Now to convince PC that we need to try country western dancing again.
This gal is ready to boot-scootin’ boogie. That or rope some steers.
My last outfit is so simple it seems silly to even show you. You guys probably put things together like this all day long. But I didn’t until I started the challenges. I would never have put pearls and heels with jeans. Or pearls with a tee, for that matter.
Here’s the rundown on this simple outfit. Loft tee, Loft curvy, cropped jeans, Payless floral heels, strand of pearls from Charming Charlie’s. I paid over $30 for my pearls, which I assure you have never seen the first oyster. But if you click the target on the picture above, Nordstrom Rack has a triple strand of pearls for under $15.00. Wish I had seen them first!
Still lovin’ my skinny mirror from Kirklands. So much better than diet and exercise!
And that’s a wrap.
Keep in mind the Get Your Pretty On Style Fall Style 2015 Challenge will be opening in a few months and coming up the first of September, Alison is offering a repeat of the Rediscover Me Challenge. Read more here.
I am definitely doing this challenge again as a refresher. If you register, please let me know so we can do it together.
Hugs and kisses,
Katie

Thank you, Carrie. I know tees and jeans are such simple go-to’s but with Alison’s guidance, I have learned how to make them more special with accessories. I forget to wear my floral heels. Need to put them out where I see them! XO

I love this post and your summer looks. Those cowboy boots are too fun – and you look great wearing them. I like your white-on-white look – the graphic/printed tee is a great addition.
