Dearest fashionistas,
So. Excited. Guess who is co-hosting Fabulous Friday with Jennie at A Pocketful of Polka Dots? I’ll give you a minute to think because you might not ever guess who. Give up? It’s me. ME!!! Right here from “My Fashion Haus”!
Fabulous Friday Invite
Jennie invited me to join her several weeks ago. I was thrilled. But explained that I wanted to wait til I lost weight, looked younger, had a tummy tuck and face lift. Oh, and some great new outfit to showcase. Because she is in the big leagues, gals!
But then I stopped to think. I will probably never weigh less than I do now. I will never BE younger than I am today. Probably won’t look younger either. And unless I hit the Power Ball, there is no tummy tuck or face lift in my future.
So I got a hair cut. And pulled out an outfit I bought earlier this spring and had been saving for a special occasion. And this is it! But before you get too excited about my OOTD, let me preface this by saying we aren’t talking designer piece or evening gown here. More like Loft Outlet and Express sale, pants and top.
Have a look see.
Two Mints in One
Going to date myself here (ha, as if my face didn’t date me already!). Back in the ’60’s, there was a commercial for Certs, a breath mint. Featured two gals (twins?) arguing over whether Certs was a breath mint or a candy. Turned out they were both right.
When I was trying to decide what to wear for today’s post, I couldn’t decide between an olive drab outfit and one in brighter primary colors.
I gravitate toward neutrals and OD anything/everything. But my PC liked the other possibility better.
So, I am giving you two, two, two outfits in one (post).
OD OOTD
So funny. This is the outfit I like best. But without even realizing, it was the one I did the flat lay first, tried on first, photographed first.
Found these cuffed, colored denim pants at Loft Outlet a few weeks ago for $14.95 on the sale rack. The gal said they were left over from fall. Hmm, I don’t know about you but downy chick yellow says spring to me. Or maybe this color isn’t downy chick yellow?
The top was $9.99, same store, left over from…yup, fall. My cardi is old from Target. Wedges from DSW and tassel pendant from Charming Chuck.
Primary Palette
Here’s the outfit my Prince Charming liked best. At least on the hangers.
Express sleeveless top, on sale 40% off. Another fashion find from my library conference in April. Same pair of FALL? colored denim pants from Loft Outlet. Cardi from Loft Outlet, Charming Charlie necklace, DSW wedges.
Which One for the Win?
You’ve seen the flat lays. Now here are the outfits on a decidedly unflat me.
Ha! In this bottom row, I look like I am shrinking. Boy, I really need to learn how to use my camera and tripod and remote this summer. Going to take notes on Jennie’s recent post about taking fashion blog photos. Read that article, here. I have it bookmarked!
So which outfit do you like best?
My Friend Jennie
Hope you will run by Jennie’s place to see what she’s styling for Fabulous Friday. Her blog has this beautiful new look. And check out her favorite outfit from last week’s Fabulous Friday link-up.
Meet your host for Fabulous Friday,
Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots. ∼ Hey y’all, I’m Jennie

(and handsome!) sons and one very spoiled Pomeranian. After spending
most of my life in black and boring clothes, I now enjoy trying new
trends, am a confessed shoeaholic, believe life is too short for
boring hair, and never met a polka dot I didn’t like. I am also an

Shelly, the Queen in Between
As part of my co-hosting duties, I was asked to pick my favorite look from last week’s Fabulous Friday link-up. While there were so many lovelies, Shelly’s look stuck with me from the moment I saw her photo.
Shel called this a military inspired look. She took an LBD and gave it a dose of OD and camo for the win. I love the contrast between a decidedly feminine swing dress and heels paired with a military jacket and camo cuff. Even thought of Shelly and this outfit yesterday when I wore my camos with a pink, lace-detailed tee. Called my look an “Ode to The Queen in Between”.
Your Turn
So, now it’s your turn. In the library, I often give my students ‘library homework’ – go home and share this fable with someone you love, retell this fairy tale in your own words to your favorite stuffed animal. It’s homework time, kinda. But no stuffed animals required. In a comment below, just vote for your favorite outfit from my two choices.
Then check my Instagram feed to see which one I wore to school.
And if you are a blogger, how ’bout linking up your look with us.
Shelly
Thank you sweet Leslie! And I seriously love when people call me Shel! Way to go stepping outside your comfort zone and hosting!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment, Shelly. I am really very shy and get a case of the nerves when I am rubbing elbows with you gals who have really taken off in the blogging world. I would never consider myself a style blogger (quite the contrary)! And I appreciate that while you blog often about fashion and style, you also seem so real. Love your posts about family and feelings.
Brennyn
Of course my favorite is the navy and white with the red cardigan! Love love love mom! Bring your camera and some outfits to see me and I’ll take some pictures of you! Love you momma!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Babiest girl-o-mine, thank you. I will bring my camera and bonus…some clothes! Maybe we can do fashion haus with an off-the-shoulder look featuring the three girls together…you, me and Coo. I love you, angel baby girl.
Mica
You look beautiful in both outfits! I agree with you on the pants too, they seem the perfect colour for spring and work so well with both pretty printed tops 🙂
Thank you for co-hosting the link up!
Hope you have a great weekend ahead of you! 🙂
Away From The Blue Blog
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, thank you for coming by!!! Those yellow pants ARE springy, huh? Glad I am not the only one who thinks so. You are a doll and I enjoyed perusing your blog and beautiful photos. Thank you for taking time to visit me.
Gail
I love the outfit in the bottom right hand corner – you look so relaxed, tanned and slim! Both tops are a real find and the trousers (pants) are a wonderful color.
Jennie
Leslie, thank you so much for being my lovely co-host this week! I would most certainly love to have you back again. 🙂
I enjoyed seeing you in two different looks this week and think they both look great on you. I happen to be drawn to more vibrant colors, but I think your neutral look really suits you. I completely agree about the yellow pants seem perfect for spring. Boy, you racked up some great buys. Reminds me I need to check out my local Loft this weekend. I am This close to earning a reward, and seeing your buys makes we want to check out the clearance racks to see what surprises may be in store!
Thanks for sharing the love, friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for the opportunity to co-host with you. The new look to your blog is so unique and artistic. Love the sliding photos or galleries, the colors, the chic look. Truly the prettiest blog of those I follow.
You are so good for me! You inspired me to try shorter hair and I keep toying with the idea of a bit of berry or burgundy in the color. Maybe this fall for kicks! I would easily wear earth tones the rest of my life but seeing you in bolder colors, jewel tones, and clever pattern mixing makes me want to have more fun with my choices. I am very close to earning a Loft reward, too, so need to scout out something Jennie-inspired and get it!!
Thank you again for being so wonderful to work with! Big hugs!
curlycraftymom
I have to say, what I love about your posts is that you share your entire thought process from start to finish! It is always a delight to read, I have to say!! 🙂 I also love that you asked PC for his opinion. You two are the cutest. I really love the second outfit with that red cardi. That pop of color just adds such a WOW to that outfit! It’s also adorable without the red cardi, tho!!

So great to see you co-hosting with Jennie! I really like hearing the detail on how you put both looks together. I love both of these cute outfits on you but the second is my favorite with the bright cardi!

Doused In Pink
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Hey Jill!! It was a delight co-hosting with Jennie. Her blog is beautiful and her style sense is so fun. She inspires me to try bolder colors when I would normally in earth tones from now til the cows come home. You gals are my fashion muses. I am learning how to dress myself by watching you, Carrie and Jennie!! XO
Lana
Very pretty outfits Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Lana. And thank you for taking time to come by and leave a comment. Just read that Shelly has joined the gang. She will be a perfect fit and wonderful addition to The Blended Blog.
Shelbee on the Edge
Leslie, I actually love both outfits! Both color palettes look fabulous on you. And the style suits you so well! I am a sucker for brighter colors myself, but I often like a neutral palette, too, just to change things up! Well done, my friend! Well done!

Aren’t you the sweetest! Thank you for coming by, Shelbee and for leaving such kind comment. I think being shy, I tend to gravitate toward neutrals. They help me fade into the woodwork better!! Trying to break out of my shell a bit. Bought RED ballet flats. Ha! And an OTS red top. Now to wear them. XO
Claire justine
Thanks for hosting and stopping by. Love both looks, especially the red cardigan and blue top. I need to treat myself to a new red cardi 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment. Going to wear this bold colored outfit to see my 90 year old mom. Hope it will brighten her day.
