Hi, dolls,
Linking-up with the contributors at The Blended Blog for another edition of the “Style Perspectives” series. Christy from r squared + g + c = our family is front and center, styling the prompt she chose for today – cardi, tee, jeans and statement necklace.
Before we dive into my interpretation of the prompt, let’s take a look at how we all styled last week’s ingredients: spring sweater, jeans and flats.
Fun to see how those three ingredients can look so unique with each blogger’s personality and sense of style mixed in.
We are featuring practically the same pieces again this week but throwing in a little spice with the addition of a statement necklace. I don’t know Christy well but rumor has it around The Blended Blog that she is quite the connoisseur of this fashionably fun trend in jewelry.
I look forward to seeing the baubles Christy blogs.
For yours truly, this is a really easy formula to follow. I wear a similar combination of this prompt to school several times a week. So often, that I wonder what I used to wear before I wore a cardi, tee, jeans and a necklace. Probably a diaper and a onesie, I’ve been wearing this so long.
So when I was in Houston, I had an opportunity to shop in Lauren’s nice Target store one afternoon. They had just set out some beautiful spring cardigans in different patterns and colors.

This one caught my eye immediately but they had it in every size but mine. I tried on the size smaller but it was too small. I tried on the size larger than mine but it was too large. I felt like Goldilocks.
When I got home I looked here but no luck. Just when I thought I had put the sweater out of my mind, my friend Phyllis styled the sweater, here, in our last “Style Perspectives” post.
I wanted it all over again.
Here’s where having some of that common sense stuff would come in handy. See how I posted that pic above right from Target online? Well, it never occurred to me to look online for the sweater (until now). Instead I moaned about it on my post and my BFF Sharon ran to her Target, found my size, wrapped it in tissue paper, slipped it into a bubble wrap envelope with pink and white polka dots and sent it to me, two-day air.
Yup.
I am blessed.
I am spoiled.
ROTTEN.
And I am happily styling that sweater this week.
Thank you, Sharon. I love you. And never ever meant for you to buy this sweater for me. I promise. I just can’t think my way out of a wet paper bag.
Should have warned you to grab your shades, huh.
Yeah, a lot going on here.
But when I saw this sweater in Houston, I immediately wanted to pair it with this Target striped, boatneck, 3/4-length sleeve tee. Whew, and that’s a mouth full. Decided to forego the plaid shorts (jk-don’t grab that straight jacket just yet) for Loft white cuffed, cropped jeans. Pink flats from Payless. Statement necklace from Old Navy.
I threw in a copy of Marisol McDonald Doesn’t Match/Marisol McDonald No Combina by Monica Brown, illustrations by Sara Palacios, just for kicks, because this is definitely a Marisol McDonald-approved outfit. Just for fun, I will be reviewing this book on Friday, so please come back!
What do you think?
Honest Abe.
Too busy?
Purrsnickitty thought so.
She did this strange thing with her paws, a digging motion (think little box) until she had scooted that striped tee totally off the bed and onto the floor.
She just looks sweet.
May not be long on common sense over here but I can take a hint.
Snick replaced that striped rag with this Loft Outlet soft, duckling-yellow tee and began purring her approval.
So, my friends, what say you?
OR
Come back on Friday to see which one I wore. If you would like to sway my decision, perhaps prevent me from embarrassing myself, please click on comments below and let me know which combo I should wear on the plane to Ft. Worth.
Getting on that plane early Friday morning, so will need your vote by Thursday night.
And if you have a cardi, tee, jeans and statement necklace look you would like to share, please do! If you are a blogger, link-up with us by clicking below to add your look.
You can also use #theblendedblogstyle on a post to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter of your outfit.
Be sure to run by and check out Christy’s look and the interpretation of all the TBB gals.
Then start planning for next week’s prompt.
And don’t forget to vote on which look I should wear.
Thanks for playing along with this crazy old librarian.
Have a quick and painless hUmP day.
Hugs and kisses,

Thank you, baby-o-mine! You will see me in one or the other combo of this outfit tomorrow. Bring
your shades, and Coo’s, just in case.

I love that you added a book- brilliant. The colours are awesome in this outfit!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! The book is a good one. Stop by to read the review. So relate-able to my daughters and theirs and

Your sweet kitty doess look darling!! Your take is superb with that gorgeous color combo!! I can feel Spring now!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you. Purrsnickitty and Purrsimmony have really help me through this empty nest adjustment. They are pretty
girls and quite the divas. I always tend to migrate toward earth tones but am starting to like some yellow this spring.
Nicole
Love all that colour – that necklace is great – Old Navy you say??
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you! Old Navy, girl! Who knew?
Christy Renton
If anyone can pull it off you can Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! Thanks, Christy. I might just have to wear that crazy combo just for kicks!
Sharon
Can’t wait to see how you put this outfit together! I enjoy being your personal shopper anytime! 😊
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You are just too good to me and MINE, BFF! Love you for it. And all of your other great qualities. Might have
to rock out some pattern mixing tomorrow. Ha!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
I love it with the Loft tee, I think it has just enough bright colors without being overpowering! Your kitty is so cute! And, how sweet that she sent you that sweater!!! Love it!

I totally agree about the Loft tee being softer and not as overpowering but I am almost tempted to go with overpowering.
Just to see what happens, you know? They might cart me off the plane from El Paso to DFW, though, and I would hate that
to happen. So excited to see my babies!!
Andrea@WellnessNotes
Great cardigan! I love it with both tops! I think it depends on what you are in the mood for (or if you need to brighten your day a bit more!).
Leslie Roberts Clingan
So glad you can see this cardi with the crazy stripes, too! So I am not totally alone thinking that combo
might work! Thank you.
Whitney @ Whitney a la mode
Your cat’s fur is so beautiful! And I love the colors in the outfit combination! I’ve been to El Paso many times so I can totally picture your hometown 🙂
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Whitney. Snick is quite the tomboy but can also be a diva! How in the world have you been
to El Paso? No one comes to El Paso…but I did in 1988 and stayed!!!
Carrie
What a great sweater, Leslie! Perfect print and perfect for spring. You are spoiled…in a good way, friend!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Totally spoiled. T-totally. And so thankful.
Lana
Your cat is adorable, but she’s no stylist. I actually like the version with the striped shirt best! Although truly, both are lovely and I can’t wait to see it on you. I looked at that same cardigan, but my size was also not available. And I’m not shopping. Hope you have a great weekend in Ft. Worth – wish you were coming to Vegas!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Oh, my gravy, Lana. Consider yourself kissed. I so want to wear the crazy outfit. You might just have pushed
the vote in that favor. I wish I could be meeting up with you gals. Have just a fabulous time. Post pics and give
everyone a hug for me. Safe travels. XO
Shaunacey

Thank you, Shaunacey, I am glad my passion shows. I am going to be lost again when this gig is up in June. Have such a good time in Vegas. I will miss being with you, gals. XO
LISA
I am going to vote for outfit #2 – I love the softness of that pale yellow tee. I’ll check back tomorrow to see which one you picked.

Thank you, Lisa. Need to tally up the votes but I think I am about tied. Might have to let Purrsnickitty, Purrsimmony and PC be the tie breakers.

Hi Leslie! I saw that darling sweater also at Target and they were out of my size too! I went right home and ordered it online. (love free shipping with my Redcard!!) I just love how it goes with just about everything. I like both looks but don’t think I am brave enough for the striped tee. I would love to see it on you though!
Hubby and I are off to Nashville/Memphis tomorrow so it looks like a lot of bloggers will be away this weekend! Please post pics in your outfit and have a great time!
Karen
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side

Leslie Roberts Clingan
I love all the colors, too. A bit of crazy going on but that’s me!
