Hey, lovies!
I am linking up again today with Shaunacey at Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy. Since she has been doing her gratitude posts on Mondays this year, I have kept them in mind as I have gone through my days lately. And after linking-up with Shaunacey last week for her gratitude post, I am making a more conscious effort to look for what I have always called ‘little miracles’.
Here are a few of the little miracles I was blessed with this week.
Late in the summer, I planted mums in the planters at my entry way. They never really took off too well. But I didn’t want to give up on them. Then I read a post by my blogger buddy Sheila at Making the Most of Everyday about her mums. Crazy, huh? A friend of Sheila’s had suggested she deadhead the spent blooms from her plant. Sheila called it giving her mum a haircut.
Check out her plant here.
So as it turned colder, I moved my struggling little mummies into the house and watered them now and then but nothing much more than that. This past week, I decided it was time to give my mums a haircut.
And look how they rewarded me!
Or maybe God rewarded me for giving them a little care.
So, Saturday I was sitting on the loveseat in the den working on lesson plans for my library classes this week. PC had gone to baseball practice – yes, already! Purrsnickitty was napping on the couch and Purrsimmony was napping on a little ledge attached to the window. Something startled Snick causing her to bolt from the couch and take off running out of the room. And Simmony jumped off of her ledge, promptly catching her back legs in the cord to the end table lamp.
I watched the lamp being dragged to the edge of the table and then tipping over, tail over teakettle, in s l o w motion, but my darn 57-year-old body could not get off the loveseat fast enough to scoop up the lamp before it hit the floor.
BOOM!
But nothing broke. Not the lamp, not PC’s laptop that was sitting on the laptop stand that is upside down in the chair, and not Purrsimmony’s little back legs.
MIR-A-CLE!
Then last week on the weather forecast, I heard rumor of a chance of snow for today. I had everyone at school doing the snow dance. It is a little jig I made up years ago and have taught all of my students in hopes of bringing us a snow day from class. One fourth grade class was such fun, doing the snow dance with me in the library.
Well, they came to the library again today to practice our reader’s theater presentation and guess what? It was snowing! The children had to come to the library from their portable classroom at the back of the school grounds. The kids had snowflakes and little ice pellets in their hair and these incredibly big smiles on their faces. They proclaimed, “Ms. C., the snow dance worked!!”
I didn’t have a chance to take a good picture of dusting we got but I did run to the front doors of the school to watch a few flakes fall. Trust me, there’s snow somewhere in that picture. Always a blessing.
The last little miracle I want to share with you, are the two beautiful lives that are my daughters Brennyn Alexis and Lauren Allegra. They were together this past weekend and sent me the picture below.
I am so proud.
I am so grateful to have been entrusted with loving and raising these sweet angels.
Lauren is in her eighth month of pregnancy with her first baby, my second granddaughter. Brennyn drove down from Ft. Worth to Houston to take Lauren all of Cady’s baby equipment to use with Lucia.
My babies are among my greatest miracles.
I love that my daughters love each other so well.
I hope you know that each of you are little miracles in my life. I have received some pretty
sweet messages recently from some of my virtual friends, and I so appreciate your support and kind words.
Won’t you share one your little miracles with me?
Would love to hear from you in a comment below or an email or even on my Facebook page.
Thank you!
Hugs and kisses,
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Your daughters are beautiful women! I love that you talk about your daughters and grandchild (and soon grandchildren!) so much on here. I can just see you dancing with the 4th graders! My Nathan is a 4th grader, so I know them well. 😉 I had a lamp that recently fell on the floor (Brian and Nathan were doing… I’m not exactly sure what…) and it was from West Elm… very old from West Elm, but still… a lamp I really love. Thankfully it didn’t break, but when I was dusting the other day I saw a little TINY, tiny piece of plastic fell off the light part of it. Still work fine. I’m glad your kitty is ok!

Yay for a little miracle for your lamp, too. I try to avoid dusting (not really) because I inevitably find new kitty scratches on the wood, or little broken pieces of who knows what on the floor. Next time you guys want snow, holler, and I will show Nathan and Autumn the snow dance, free of charge. Thank you for the very sweet things you said about Bren and Lauren. I love them so very much. Can’t take much credit for their outer beauty because they look something like their dad, but would like to think I played a part in their inner beauty. Your comments always, always brighten my day. Thank you, Carrie.

Your girls are so beautiful, and I love that they are friends. I hope my boys are like that as they get older. We do snow dances here too – but lately they haven’t been working! Have a lovely week, my friend!

We need to combine forces on this snow dance stuff. Give me a holler when you want snow and I will dance for you, too. I wouldn’t mind a good snow any day of the week and it might be especially fun in July, if you feel so inclined. Thank you for your sweet comments on my babies. They are quite different in personality, are your son very different? I am sure they will be each other’s go-to buddy for life.

Awww, so sweet! The snow dance worked, so adorable! You must be the best librarian. I don’t think I even knew that we had one…EVER. I need to start doing the same during my week too.

Sarah! Sarah, you know the way to my heart…I love being a librarian…not sure how terrific or by the book of
how to be a librarian I am, but I think my love for the kids and my job is evident. I don’t remember
a single librarian from my days in school. Of course, that might be because it was before the written word. XO

Bren and Lauren are beginning to resemble each other in this picture. I remember how we never really thought we looked alike until recently after you had your nose job and now we have the same petite little nose👺. Seriously, I am so thankful that we have become such good friends in recent years and am thankful for the technology that allows us to be a part of each other’s lives 800 miles apart. Keep on journaling little big sister. I may not comment often (I am not the sister with written talents) but I always enjoy. Love you and am proud of you.

How is it that you always make me laugh. Always. I love you so. And I agree Bren and Buff do look a like in this pic. I think it is the inner Daniel stepping forward in both of them. If they weren’t so sweet and pretty, I would have it exorcised. Just kidding. Thank you for supporting me in everything I do, crazy former marriages included. I love you, I love you.

There is so much awesome in this post but all I can focus on is BASEBALL!!! Damn. You are so lucky.

You need to gather your baseball gals and come south for spring training. I might have a couple of rooms you could bunk in!
Shaunacey
first, how freaking gorgeous are your girls?! Seriously, they take after their beautiful momma!
Your lamp story made me laugh because YAY it didn’t break and also Lilo (our dog) bumped one of my lamps last week… sadly, the result wasn’t as positive (I’m now down a lamp)… oh pets.
Thanks for linking up, I hope that writing those post helped put a smile on your face, reading it made me smile 🙂

Oh, sweet friend! I wish I could take credit for my babies external “pretty” but Brennyn and even Lauren a little, look a lot like their dad. So glad they got his coloring. No sunbathing required.
So sorry your lamp incident (LILO!!!) had an unhappy ending. Pets ya GOTTA love ’em, don’t we?
Your Monday link-ups are inspiring and a little bit life changing because I am looking for all the good and GREAT in my life.
