Dear Ones,
Just back home on Monday from an almost two-week trip to the other side of Texas. It may seem that because I was pretty much AWOL while I was gone, that one could deduct that the other size of Texas has no Internet connectivity. But that wouldn’t be accurate. I just had very little time to sit still long enough to get online. I was really busy living life which didn’t leave a lot of time to write about it.
I am linking up with my friend Shaunacey at Simply Shaunacey for her “Monday Moments of Gratitude”.
I have so much to be grateful for today that this post could be days long.
But I will try to make it snappy.
So grateful for Cadence.
My five-year-old granddaughter.
I missed my plane to Ft. Worth so wound up arriving about six hours late. But just in time for a quick workout with Brennyn at the gym before we picked up Cady at school.
The way Cady ran to me did this old heart so much good.
Oh, those baby girl hugs.
I am grateful that my daughters and their daughters were born healthy.
Thankful for the opportunity to give back just a little through the March of Dimes walk in Ft. Worth.
On our mark, get set, go!
We jogged more than 3/4ths of the 5K route.
Yay, us!
Grateful that at 58, I am still able to jog.
Thank you, March of Dimes for saving babies.
I am grateful for my creative Cady who played school with me during my visit.
When I was the teacher my name was Miss Susan and when Cady was the student her name was Rose.
Cady sang the cutest weather song (her daddy is a meteorologist) each time we played school. And we had calendar time where we talked about the days of the week, the month, the year, what day yesterday was and tomorrow would be.
Cady won’t erase anything off her white board because she uses all of it for playing school: the alphabet, patterns where her “students” have to guess the next shape in the pattern, graphs for the weather.
I love this baby.
I am grateful that my daughters’ father and I have remained friendly enough that we were able to have lunch together while I was in Ft. Worth...with his newest girl friend, of course, who is slightly older than our daughter Brennyn.
But I won’t go there.
I am grateful that despite some record-breaking weather in east Texas while I was there, the weather cleared long enough for us to do the March of Dimes walk, and to visit the Ft. Worth Art Fest.
While there were many beautiful pieces of art, most of them were far beyond my means.
Any of the pictures in the third photo above would work really well in my house, BTW.
But I got to bring home the most valuable, most adorable piece of art at the whole art fest.
Grateful for Cady’s portrait of herself and her Mimi (me), featuring her mommy (Brennyn) as a fairy.
SO. PRECIOUS.
Grateful for another birthday.
Even if it means turning 58.
And for a month’s worth of birthday celebrations.
Cady told the waitress at our favorite Ft. Worth sushi restaurant that it was her Mimi’s birthday. A few minutes later I was served this delicious treat and serenaded by Brennyn and my “Coo”.
Then birthday presents were delivered the next morning before school by my little princess.
Complete with curtsy.
Before heading to the airport, Brennyn took me by Cady’s school for lunch.
We surprised Cady with doughnuts for lunch. They eat at 10:20 after all!
Grateful for three wonderful but all-too-short days with Brennyn and Cadence.
What are you grateful for as this month comes to a close?
Please come back to see more gratefuls from my trip to Houston and the Texas Library Association conference.
Thank you for stopping by.
Hugs and kisses,
Sheila @ Sheila's Potpourri
Oh Leslie! It looks like you had many wonderful moments together! I’m so happy for you!
Deena
I’m happy you were able to have some time unplugged and away with that beautiful family of yours!
Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Unplugged time is the best! I need to do it more often… and soon. LOL. It looks like you have such a loving family! And, she does look excited to see you picking her up from school. Love that dry erase board, too! Ha!

Awww, so much to be grateful for! You are one lucky mama/Mimi…
Anne Green
You have such a nice family.

Thank you, Anne. I love them so.
Lana
So much to be grateful for in your wonderful life! I look forward to the grandparent days – you can tell that Cady adores you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
What a heartwarming comment. I love that baby girl so much and having her run into my arms was about the best thing ever. You will love being a grandmother some day, Lana. Having that to look forward to makes the first months or year of empty nesting more bearable.

Hello! Talk about a day late and a $ short-well lets just say I am way past that! I’ve been meaning to write since you asked for the vote on your outfit several weeks ago but since I have been seeing you in the striped top in some of yer recent pics, for what it’s worth I cast my (late😏) vote for the striped top! Looking good !! Hope you & PC have been okay lately with all the crazy TX weather I keep hearing about; how close is that to your home? Also wanted to say how I totally agree with your recent statement of how you are grateful to still be able to run – I concur with that & how you have motivated me recently since spring has been coming back (albeit slowly) to Mich. It has been raining since I got off work today; however, I have been out jogging on my dirt roads almost every day over the past 2 1/2 weeks-thanks so much for all your inspiration!! Would love it if we could ever jog together, but trust me I am not speedy, just happy to be out and about in springtime! Please keep up the great posts-I always look forward to them! Happy 1st of May and talk to you soon! Bye, Cathy C.

Hi Cathy!! Always so glad to hear from you, my friend. I am glad you voted for the stripe top. I have been wearing that outfit all over Texas!! Haven’t been locked up yet, surprisingly enough. PC always raises one eyebrow, though. You just warm my heart with the kind things you say. I am so glad you are running. It makes me feel so much better. I am certainly not speedy either but I think we are just doing great to be running…period! This spring weather has been nuts everywhere. Today we are having a really cool first day of May. Had to wear my moto jacket to church. And so dry, at least in west Texas. The rain was terrible when I was in Ft. Worth and Houston but we were all safe and dry. So many who weren’t that fortunate. What are you working on with your scrapbooking? My sister and I got a little scrapping in when I was in Houston. I just love doing it with her. I am so behind, though! Working on Easter from two years ago. Do you have a lot of scrapbook stores near you? Or do you order things online? Share a layout with me so I can see!!! You can email me at mommyhon333@hotmail.com! Thank you for always being so supportive and encouraging. Big loves to you and happy May Day!
