Sugar plums!
Can I just give you a big ole Texas-sized hug today? Just for general principles, as my mom would say. I don’t have the flu, I promise!! (Isn’t it just terrible this year? Talking to you Cindi from Diary of a Mad Retiree!!!) Just want to hug each of you in thanks for joining me on this crazy journey called life. So blessed to have YOU to talk to and hold hands with as I wander aimlessly trying to figure out what I should be doing. {{[[((HUGS))]]}}
It’s time for another edition of “Little Letters, 02.2018”. And today’s notes are more gratitude than grumble. It’s Friday and tomorrow is our Valentine’s day date! Life is good at the castle. Linking up with Kristen at Taz & Belly for this series. Boy, oh, boy does she have some great “Little Letters, 02.2018” this month!
Little Letters, 02.2018
Letters to Medical Personnel
Dear Med Post,
Thank you for seeing my PC and me, on separate occasions, when getting in to see our primary care physician would have required an appointment days in advance. Since I didn’t plan to break my foot nor did my Prince plan to get an upper respiratory infection, we weren’t able to make appointments ahead of time. Thank you for being a doc in a box that accepts our insurance (and somehow doesn’t even make PC pay a co-pay, what’s with that??? I know he’s cute but don’t be hitting on my fella!), gets us in and out with a treatment plan in place, and gives follow up calls to check on us. The only thing missing is the chicken soup. Thank you.
Dear Texas Tech Sports Medicine Clinic,
Thank you for seeing me so quickly. Dr. Vazquez and his resident were very thorough. My bottom hardly hit the chair in the waiting area before I was called back. With all of the coughing and sneezing that was going on in the lobby, I’m fairly certain you saved me from catching the crud. Thank you for reassuring me that my ankle was NOT broken. And for the prescription for an orthopedic shoe to replace the boot they gave me at Med Post. Thank you.
Dear Hanger Clinic,
I was a little put out because you didn’t have the orthopedic shoe I needed in stock and kept my prescription so I couldn’t go elsewhere to get it. But you redeemed yourself when your employee drove across town to get my shoe and then met me the next morning bright and early to fit me with it. The shoe is lighter, more comfortable and ever so much more stylish than that clunky boot. Thank you.
Letters to Others
Dear Ms. Principal at Lincoln Middle School,
Thank you for your interest in hiring me as a long-term sub and/or librarian for your campus. When your secretary called to set up an appointment time for the interview, I assumed it was for a long-term sub opportunity until you can hire someone permanently. But it may have been an interview for the real thing, the full time position. At any rate, your interest gave me a sense of validation and self-worth. It was a good feeling that I might be someone you would like to add to your team, and for a few minutes, I thought I might like to work again. But I do still have a broken foot. And it is keeping me home, so I had to turn down an interview.
The past few months at home have helped me to realize that maybe my librarian-ing days are over. And that makes me sad. But it also makes me hopeful for new activities and experiences to fill my future. Thank you.
Dear UserTesting.com and Rev.com,
Thank you for allowing me to earn a little money while sitting on my behind at home. Emphasis on little. But for a gal who still owes money on Christmas but who has decided she doesn’t want to work, I’ll take it. Slowly but surely wins the race. Pays the cards. Thank you.
Dear Legal Office of Mark T. Davis,
Thank you for finally filing our lawsuit and getting our pool builder (I use that word loosely) served. This coming week it will be a year since we broke ground on the pool. We had such high hopes for creating our own little oasis in the desert. And our pool is beautiful. It just has problems. But I feel like we are finally on the road to getting those issues addressed, once and for all. Thank you.
Dear Sandy,
Thank you for helping my daughter Brennyn try to sell her house. Check it out here, if you are interested or know anyone looking for a home in Ft. Worth. Thank you.
Dear Sue,
Thank you for having faith in me and inviting me to guest post on your blog. It was an honor. Thank you.
Dear Susan, Suzanne, Suzie, Nancy and Dolores,
Thank you for sharing your insight and retirement experiences for my post on Sue’s blog, Sizzling Toward 60 and Beyond. Thank you.
Dear Sharonia,
Than you for my new devotional, Present over Perfect. I look forward to reading it. Thank you.

Dear Authors Shalana Frisby and Barbara O’Neal,
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment after I reviewed your books. Someday I hope to be an author just like the two of you. Thank you.
Dearest Readers,
Thank you for being here. For spending a few moments of your day to stop by my blog. Thank you!
And that’s it for this month. When I tried to think of a grumpy letter I could write, I really couldn’t think of anything. That must mean life over here is pretty darn good, huh?
Your Turn
Who would you address in your “Little Letters, 02.2018”? Do you have praise to share? Is there something you would like to grumble about? These “Little Letters” are a fabulous platform for both. Feel free to write as many as you like in the comments below!!
Wishing you a restive and restorative weekend.
Hugs and kisses,
Em
I just love these letters!
Thank you for sharing them and inspiring me to want to follow your lead!

Come on, Em, the water’s fine!!! Hope you have written some little letters. Will stop by to see. Come link up with us. I miss hearing from you. If you see this comment in time, tomorrow a group of us will be sharing 10 favorite photos of and memories with our spouse. That would be a pretty quick, fun post to do!! Hoping to get mine together sometime on Monday.
Miss you!!!

I love reading these letters, Leslie. If we were in person, you’d hear me giggling at some and gasping at others!!!

Ha!! Thank you, Jodie. The little letters are fun to write. And make me feel better every month. Cheap therapy.

Of course I had to click on the property details (just call me nosey!) of your daughter’s house and all I can say is wow. I hadn’t realised just how much more expensive property is over here in the UK – let’s just say for that money you would be pushed to find a small terraced two bedroomed property. And there you have a fabulous, luxury family home. Kind of tempting to relocate … ;-). Hope she finds someone to buy her home very soon, house moving can be so stressful.
Pleased to hear you found plenty to be thankful for this month – even if a lot of it was accident related!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Yay, thank you for checking out Brennyn’s house!! I put it on there for that reason. Now, pack up and come move ‘cross the pond!!!
My baby girl has been so stressed about selling her home. She has kitties and has to lock them up all day while she is at work in case someone wants to see the house. Yesterday she had 3 showings. Sometimes, realtors call and say they will be over in 20 minutes, when she is home and she has to scramble to pick up everything, clean quickly and then get out of the house so they can come. She had one realtor bring someone over without notice! Brennyn was in her room getting ready to shower and my seven-year-old grand was in her room changing clothes with the realtor walked in!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. Hope this will be her month to get an offer!
Carrie
Gosh, I’m sorry you have a broken foot. Not fun I am sure. I loved your perspective on your interview. Last Spring I interviewed for several teaching jobs. I didn’t get hired and I realize my teaching days are probably behind me but I also felt validated just by the experience.
Have a wonderful weekend, Leslie!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Everything happens for a reason and there are good reasons why we aren’t back in the teaching profession. Sometimes those reasons are clear immediately, but God has a plan.
Enjoying your marriage series. XO
Gail
Loved your Little Letters. You are so sweet and positive in how you view everything. A real role model. Hugs!

This is so sweet! It reminds me of Oprah’s Journal of Gratitude!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you!! I love writing the little letters and am always grateful to have positive letters to write.
Laura
I hope that the pool builder finally being served is the beginning of the end to your pool problems! You’ve been put through the ringer with that! I hope your foot is healing quickly too!
