Hey, gals!
How’s your week going so far? I am enjoying this second week of summer vacation! I am feeling so productive as I continue with my spring cleaning. PC and I continue to amp up our workouts. Got my hairs cut – all of them! And my babies got together in Houston and I was able to enjoy their time together via FB, Instagram and phone calls. But rather than list what’s going on over here, let me show you a peek into my world…currently.
As I have shared, PC and I are doing 21 Day Fix with my coach Casey Shanks Rooney. We aren’t completely watching every morsel we put in our mouths, but we are eating much more nutritiously. And working out, just moving in general much more than we did all winter. We are finally out of hibernation mode. A looong hibernation that has spanned more than just the winter. Anyway, I have treated myself to a couple fun active wear tanks. Here, let me show you.
Just goofing off in the first pictures after PC and I completed a BeachBody work out. The coral tank was one I ordered through T-shirt Addict on Etsy. The blue shirt is from The Fitness Tee Company. One of my fellow 21 DF-ers bought some of these shirts and shared them on our group Facebook page. They were so cute that I had to order some for myself. I have another new one on the way right now…stay tuned.
And while we are talking about getting healthier…I tried a new recipe tonight and we really liked it. Easy to make, 21 Day Fix-friendly and tasty. I discovered the recipe on Pinterest, so I guess you could say this is another pinned it and did it. It was originally shared on The Adventures of a Shrinking Princess (love that! a woman after my own heart). You can find the recipe here. As I do with almost every recipe I make, I don’t measure anything and don’t follow the recipe exactly. Here’s a picture from our kitchen tonight.
If you try it, please let me know. I used apple chicken sausage as the protein but the recipe suggests trying a combination of meats together – sausage, chicken and shrimp. Fun!
Today was the third day of my official spring cleaning. So far, I have cleaned both guest bedrooms and guest bathrooms, and today I worked on our closet and the master bath. I have pinned all kinds of guidelines and checklists and tips for spring cleaning but when it comes time to do it, I usually just jump in with both feet and all of my cleaning supplies and attack things my way. I did write a post for The Blended Blog about spring cleaning that I also shared here. I am cleaning blinds (on the driveway), baseboards, ceiling fans, windows, oiling furniture and cabinets, dusting light fixtures, organizing closets and drawers, washing linen, curtains, shower curtains and towels that are hung on display. Here’s how some of that looks.
See that gray thing in the first picture of the toilet bowl? That is my handy-dandy pumice stone. We have terribly hard water and we get calcium or lime or hard water stains on everything the water touches. My pumice stone magically erases the hard water ring from my toilet. I cleaned out old make-up, expired medication, dried-up bottles of lotion, old mascara. Felt so good. That Kohl’s bag is full of discards from the bathroom, nightstands, and closet.
I started a new devotion in the form of a workbook by friend and fellow blogger Mary Clewley, who blogs at Hope Filled Living. I “met” Mary through the Get Your Pretty On challenges. Made so many great friends that same way. Mary’s blog and Facebook page are just as beautiful as she is, pretty, feminine and floral. Please treat yourself and check them out. The workbook that I am doing is entitled Victorious Living: 101 Prayers and Praises. Look how beautifully Mary wrapped my book order. She included some little cards that I can use to write some of verses I love best as I go through the study.
Read more about this book study, here. Would love to have you join me on this journey.
I have been talking about getting my hair cut for a few weeks and thinking about it for a few months. Kept thinking I would wait until school was out because I hate when you get your hair cut or colored and go from looking one way one day to looking completely differently the next. Last Thursday, I did it. Really kind of meant to cut it even shorter but this is a step in the right direction – at least for summer and for a change.
I am no bueno with styling my hair. I am still learning to play with this new cut. Stay tuned for more pics soon.
Finally, my daughters were together over Father’s Day. Brennyn and Cady drove down to Houston one last time to see Lauren and Lucia before they move to Albuquerque the end of this month. The girls had a good time together at the apartment complex pool and for a day at Galveston Beach. I loved seeing the pictures of my darling granddaughters getting to know one another.
Look how long-legged Cady is getting. My little model-in-the-making! She always has a fresh mani and pedi. More polished than her Mimi, that’s for sure. In the second picture, you can see Lucia’s little face in the mirror as she stares at her prima Cady and it looks like Cady is staring right back at baby girl. Again they are loving one another on the bed in Lauren’s guest room. And the last picture is one Lauren sent today. I see Lauren and myself and my mom in Lucia’s face in this pic.
Kinda? Do you see any resemblance?
So, that’s what I am up to currently. Now it’s your turn. Question of the post. Question(s): What are you doing currently this summer that maybe you weren’t doing until warm weather arrived? Are you exercising more? Trying new recipes? Completing household projects? Please share with me in a comment below.
Also, Wednesday is link-up day for Create28. We are finishing up our third week of style prompts, check out the prompts for the rest of this week and all of next, here. If you have tried any of the looks and would like to share, please let me know. Would love to feature YOU, yes, YOU, here on the blog. You can also share your looks on Instagram and Twitter using #theblendedblogstyle.
Happy first day of summer, friends. Thank you spending a few moments here with me.
Hugs and kisses,
Jill

I am trying to eat healthier starting this week, but then we go on vacation next week SO I may need to pause it for a week. Brian introduced me to the Fat Secret app, so trying to track everything in there and make sure I have enough carbs for my marathon training. I’m also trying to cut back on salt! I can’t believe all of the Spring cleaning you are doing! I wish I could be that productive, but my kids really slow me down and unclean while I clean! lol! I am still doing my prayer journal, but need to do something else I feel!

We are currently spending a lot of time at the pool, so not much else is happening! Jealous of all the cleaning you are getting done.

Just got back from a week long vacation! Glad to be home. Hope to read a few novels and do a little cardmaking over the next week or two. Have a good time in Houston! Your grandchildren are beautiful. 🙂

Where did you guys go on vacation? There’s no place like home, though, no matter how great the time away might be.
I am anxious to get these kids moved – movers come tomorrow – so they can return to normalcy. Will love having
Lauren, Francisco and Lucia closer. Hope we can get together over the summer. Can’t believe June is gone. Thank you
for coming by. XO
