Sweet Friends,
Five years ago today at exactly 7:48 a.m., my life was changed forever when my granddaughter Cadence Ellie Pieper came into this world. Every single day since the morning of July 28, 2010 has been better, brighter, happier and filled with more love than all of the days of my life before. Cady is a blessing to everyone who knows her, everyone who spends even just a little bitty bit of time with her.
Cady was born through C-section so we were all there to meet her.
Well, almost all.
My PC wasn’t able to be there.
But the labor room and then the waiting room were full. We all spent an hour or so in the “labor” room (even though there was no labor involved!) with Brennyn and Corey before they headed to the delivery room.
Then once the kids went down to have that baby, we moved our party into the waiting area.
Lauren and I sat in one set of chairs. Brennyn and Lauren’s dad was there with four of his other children, the girls’ half-siblings, and they were sitting along another wall of the waiting room. Then Corey’s mom and dad were there, somewhere in between!
We took guesses about how much the baby would weigh and Lauren recorded them in her handy-dandy little notepad.
And then I looked up at the clock at about 7:46 or 7:47 and thought we had been in the waiting room for hours, when in reality it had only been about 30-40 minutes but I took a picture of the clock, for some reason. Little did I know that Cady was making her debut into the world just as I took the picture.
Finally, FiNalLy, FINALLY Corey came into the waiting room to tell us we had a baby. Hugs all around in the waiting room with our new daddy.
And then we all waited just a little bit longer to meet Miss Cadence.
I was never prouder of my baby Brennyn Alexis than I was the day that she had her baby Cadence Ellie.
And just an overwhelming love for my beautiful baby girl.
Aunt Buff didn’t hesitate to grab up that baby girl and introduce herself.
Cady has been a gift every day of her life.
Here she is wrapped up, complete with “bow”, for her trip home from the hospital. And below, on her first and second birthdays.
Ever the fashionista.
Always my princess. My baby, my Coo.
Happy birthday, Cadence.
Your Mimi loves you.
SO. MUCH.
Hugs and kisses,
Sharon

My daughter just told me yesterday that she thinks my granddaughter Lucia is calling me baby. Isn’t that just so cute? She looks at my pic and is saying either baby or bunny. She could call me about anything. Grandbabies are so dear.
