Fashionistas,
It is time to bid a fond farewell to the Get Your Pretty On Summer Style 2015 Challenge.
I didn’t participate as much as I have in other challenges in the past. In fact, I shopped my closet for almost all of the pieces I did put together. But Alison has such a knack for identifying the latest fashion trends, that I was able to update last year’s summer challenge clothing with the addition of just a couple of new things.
Here’s what I took away from Summer Style 2015.
Relaxed skinny jeans.
Available here. Love these. Actually, I saw them first on my BFF Sharon, before the challenge even started. Sharon knows her fashion and is always on top of what’s hot and what’s not. And now that I am reviewing the GYPO Summer Style shopping list, these great jeans weren’t even a part of the challenge. But they were on the top of my list! I now have a couple of pairs.
Boyfriend shorts.
Now these were on the shopping list and styled in several ways during the challenge. Sadly, I just found a pair. I have said it before, and I will say it again, I think El Paso is the last city in the country to get the “in” styles. I ordered my boyfriend shorts from Kohl’s here. Available in three washes. They are so soft and comfortable. Sure to be my go-to shorts for our upcoming vacay.
White lace or eyelet top.
I am loving the easy femininity of this tee. Wash-n-wear…doesn’t even have to be ironed. What’s not to love? I have paired this with my relaxed skinnies and nude pumps for a look that PC really liked, too. I purchased this eyelet top at Old Navy, available in limited sizes here. But have since picked up several other colors and styles at Loft Outlet.
Multi-color beaded necklace.
Another great piece that I just picked up. Looked everywhere for one. Everywhere being Charming Charlie’s and Target but no luck. Then over the holiday weekend when I ran into Kohl’s to pick up my ship-to-store boyfriend shorts, I found this little cutie, too. Looking forward to wearing it with my eyelet tee and relaxed skinnies. You can get yours on sale here.
And here are my pieces put together in a couple of outfit possibilities and I look forward to wearing next week on our summer vacation.
Relaxed skinnies, eyelet tee, multicolored glass necklace, black Vera Wang sandals.
Boyfriend shorts, lace tank, sleeveless eyelet top, turquoise pendant, Target flip flops.
A couple of last thoughts. I have reluctantly come to realize that it is ok to put together pieces that don’t obviously “match” with one another. Alison explains it like this, “Choose a color that complements but doesn’t match exactly. When in doubt, go with colors opposite of each other on the color wheel”. So here is an example of an outfit where the colors work together but aren’t matchy-matchy.
Print shorts from the challenge, eyelet tee, glass beads, patent flats from DSW.
I have come to realize that what’s fashionable in women’s and junior’s clothing often spills over into the little girl’s department. While shopping for my granddaughter Cady’s upcoming fifth birthday. I found the cutest maxi skirts and eyelet tops at Target. I picked up a solid black skirt and paired it with a white eyelet tee and then put together the outfit below that she can mix and match with the black and white.
She is going to be just precious in this!
I will leave you with this parting shot of my favorite pieces pulled together in one pic. Have you tried any of these items? Which one do you like best? Please leave me a comment about your favorite summer look.
Be sure to stop by the blogs of my fashionista friends above to see their Summer Style 2015 Challenge recaps. And join me back here on Friday when the Style Me Bloggers talk about our favorite summer go-to look.
Hugs and kisses,

Great outfits Leslie! Now we need to see them on your cute little self!

Thank you, Mar! I was pretty much a bystander this challenge and got lost with all of the posts to FB. Miss the days of our small, intimate group of 500. You are right, I need to get my booty into these outfits and put those clothes to good use. XO

great outfits!
love how much we learn from these challenges that we can use moving forward!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I need to apply what I have learned and start wearing the outfits instead of just watching everyone else. I was kind of a bystander this go-round, and I wasn’t even pregnant!
Sharon
Thanks for the kind words friend. I do try and keep up with things and I think OKC is a shopping town! I love all your outfits but I especially like that you put the turquoise pendant with the berry top! 🙂 Hope you are feeling better!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Loved OKC when I was there. It has a small town feel but you had all the good stores. And fun places. We have to get together again this fall for sure!!! I know our guys would get along fine if they came along. But might inhibit our shopping! You always look spectacular. Was telling a fellow blogger about your swing dresses yesterday! XO

I’m sad to see this challenge end – I think it was my favorite. Love all the looks you put together here!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
You did such a great job with this challenge. I need to do better about putting on the outfits – ha, actually wearing them!!!!
Carrie
Really good pieces, Leslie! The eyelet top is perfect!

Thank you! I am trying to fight the urge to run by Loft Outlet for an olive drab and a wheat colored eyelet tank I saw on sale over the weekend. Heaven help me be strong!

I just wrote on Karen’s post that I really should have gotten that colorful necklace!! Many of us are in the same boat this challenge, with not participating as much. But love that we all too so much away from it…love your white eyelet top and relaxed skinnies!!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I didn’t see the colorful necklace on the list at first. But then when I did, I couldn’t find one. El Paso is the last place on Earth to get with the program (fashion-wise) so Kohl’s finally had some when I slipped in there the other night. I think I am going to enjoy wearing it and might have to get one for my 88 year old mom! Unless she has one already. Often she is ahead of me! Now going to look for a statement ring. Just saw that on the list yesterday. Loved Sarah’s!!!

I really need to get an eyelet top, I do have a skirt, tho. I really love colorful beaded necklaces lately, I have actually been brainstorming on how to make some on my own.

I love eyelet this summer. I have tried to find a skirt but no luck yet. Where did you get yours? If you have a Loft Outlet nearby, check there for some great eyelet tanks for under $12. I am thinking I might need more!!

I’m loving that outfit you put together with the wine colored top and paisley shorts. Super cute!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
I took that outfit on vacay and never had an opportunity to wear it. I still struggle with matching together things that don’t share one color. I need to keep reminding myself that matchy-matchy is OUT!
