Hey guys! Just a quick post to share a great tool I have recently discovered.
I began following my first blog Walking in Grace and Beauty and Cyndi Spivey about a year ago. I think I found her through some great Fashion for Women Over 40 (I am loooong over 40) pins on Pinterest. From Cyndi’s blog, I discovered blogger Alison Lumbatis. I joined her first fashion challenge for women this past spring and began following her at Get Your Pretty On .
So now I was following two bloggers.
Through the spring Style Me Pretty Challenge, I met a lot of great gals, some of whom followed Cyndi and Alison, some of whom followed a couple of other great bloggers, and some of whom were great bloggers themselves. One of my favorites became Pinterest Told Me To, a fun, FUNNY, mostly fashion related blog by Sheaffer (I don’t know her last name) – I think fellow challenge fashionista and new virtual friend Mary Jensen introduced me to Sheaffer.
So that was three bloggers.
Then I started reading blogs by some of the challenge fashionistas I was developing friendships with. Katie Mitchell is a fellow librarian so I felt an instant connection to her and her blog The Mishaps and Mayhem of a Solitary Life . Next came Shauncey at Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy. Deena at From Shoes to Shiraz.
So the problem I soon found myself in was HOW DO YOU KEEP UP WITH ALL OF THE BLOGS YOU READ?
I could bookmark them, you might suggest. And that would work for most gals. But I am a dingbat. If the bookmark isn’t on my toolbar, I will forget to look at it. So that really limits what I can bookmark. Shame to be scattered brained.
Ever the librarian, I decided to research some kind of program or blog or app that could help me manage the blogs I want to read. Enter Bloglovin’.
I signed up for a FREE Bloglovin’ account and searched for the blogs that I was already reading. I added each of them to my “feed”. Voila. Or viola, as I sometimes say…Bloglovin’ keeps track of all of my blogs for me. They even send me a daily email with my daily (blog) feed from Bloglovin’. And I can add more blogs to my feed at anytime. Also, I can search for blogs that are similar to those I am following and search for blogs by subject.
I am up to fifteen blogs and counting. I am following additional fellow fashion challengers and I have stumbled across a couple of very neat blogs just through Bloglovin’ suggestions. Now to find the time to work, get supper cooked and my housework and all of my blogs read everyday.
And.
Write.
Here.

YAYYAAYA. I found it daunting at first following all these new blogs, there’s just so much to read. But now I love it; it feels like I have a whole new group of friends. I do all my blog organizing on Feedly…I should really check Bloglovin more often though.

I wish I had more hours in the day, Deena, to read blogs and get to know my new blogger buddies. So glad to be getting linked up with you!
Lana
So glad we have connected through the Style Challenge. I just started following you on Instagram too!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Lana! Hope we get to know one another better. Loving this Fall Challenge. Just wish it would turn fall-ish around here.

I love bloglovin’! It’s the way to go, although I don’t think their mobile app is great, useable but not great. Yes keeping up with sheer number of blogs that you like is hard…life/work just gets in the way about reading about other people’s lives, hehe. and I’m with Leslie, I’m ready for some Fall weather where I live too!

Hey Sarah! Thanks for stopping by. I tried the mobile Bloglovin’ app tonight and was less than impressed. Was waiting to meet my husband for dinner and thought I would try it. Guess I will stick to reading my blogs on my laptop at night in bed. Waaaaa!
Danielle
If have Bloglvin too, and Feedly to keep up wih all my blog reading. It can be a very daunting task.

Hi Danielle,
Which do you prefer, Bloglovin’ or Feedly? I had never heard of either until I “googled” how to manage the blogs you read. I tried the Bloglovin’ mobile app tonight…not a particular fan. Anxious to hear your preference.
Mary
It is SO hard to keep up with all the blogs I like to read…Between blog reading and Facebook challenge posts, I don’t get much else done! But I need to read them to keep up with all of the great friends I have made! Thanks for being one of those friends!

Hey Mary, there just aren’t enough hours in the day! This challenge has been overwhelming to me with the numbers of gals participating. I am so glad we started the challenges back when there were only a few hundred of us so we could become friends more easily. Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and to say hi. Come back again! Have a great work week.
