Fashionistas, bonjour!
Did you hear that I am back to work again? This time in my neighborhood elementary school library. I could walk to work. Could. But that would mean getting up even earlier, and wearing heels even longer. No thanks.
Thought I would share a few of my work wear outfits as a substitute librarian this week.
The teachers and admin on this campus seem to dress up quite a bit so I am trying to do the same. On some days anyway. Have a look.
Work Wear Paisley and Tennies
Loft straight leg white denim that looks slightly too big. But I assure you I haven’t lost an ounce. Paisley blouse from Dress Barn. Pale green Chucks from Rack Room. Name tag and lanyard from El Paso Independent School District.
Wore this last Friday. Blue for National Child Abuse Prevention month. My feet look huge. Like the Easter bunny’s. I probably should have worn dressier shoes. But it was Friday and my feet flat refused to go into a pair of heels.
Work Wear Belt and Tuck
Gifted kimono from my BFF Sharon. White tee and coral ankle pants from Loft Outlet. Charming Charlie pendant and earrings, black pumps from Kohl’s. Not sure why these pics look like I am in a fog. I mean, I am usually in a fog but not one so outwardly apparent as this.
Rarely tuck my tees but decided to try it with this kimono look and kinda liked it. Whoever invented kimonos was a genius. They are so feminine, flowy and forgiving, just skimming over my ‘problem areas’. Must have been a middle-aged woman.
Work Wear Flowers and Tiny Tassels
Leslie sings the blues. Loft Outlet cropped jeans and periwinkle tee, Charming Charlie scarf, Target boyfriend cardigan, mauve booties from Rack Room Shoes.
Wore this on Wednesday last week. Not that it matters in the least. Except I had about five kinder and first grade classes visit the library that day. I was cold one minute and hot the next…and it had more to do with chasing 5 and 6 year-olds and less to do with hormones.
Work Wear Stewardess Style
Land’s End dress, JCP blue oxford cloth shirt, Charming Charlie scarf and earrings, DSW strappy heels.
Yeah, the word ‘stewardess’ dates me. But doesn’t this outfit kind of look like the vintage TransWorld Airline stewardess outfits? I just need a little name tag with wings on it to complete the look. And maybe a little hat?
Your Turn
Do you work outside the home? If so, do you have a dress code? What would your favorite work day outfit look like? Please share in a comment below.

Heading up to bed. Can’t believe it is just Tuesday. What??? But we do have a holiday for Good Friday. And guess what? We have a chance of rain tonight. First time in months. Going to throw on my pjs, climb under the covers and hope for lightning and thunder.
Hugs and kisses,

I wish I could walk to work! Love seeing what you wear Mme. Librarian.

Thank you, Mme. French teacher. I am moving to a school 15 miles away next so walking will be out again. Should have taken advantage of it while I could.
Carrie
Great work looks, friend! I love you in the blue/lavendarish combo. Such pretty colors for you!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you. I like that one and the kimono outfit.
Andrea
Great outfits, Leslie! You own amazing scarves!
I teach at a community college, and there is a wide range of how people dress. But most dress very casually. I notice that I always dress up a lot more at the beginning at the quarter than towards the end… 😉
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Aww, what a sweet compliment. Thank you. I have purchased several little bandana-type scarves after seeing them on you. They are much easier to wear, especially in spring and summer. I couldn’t remember where you taught, but now that you mention community college, that rings a bell. I taught reading at our community college for a bit but my students were elementary children. I was surprised, this late in the year, how spiffy the gals were dressed at this elementary school where I am. The principal was in a dress and heels everyday!

I love seeing your work attire. The tucked in shirt with the kimono is my favorite – and like it tucked in. That is the “new” trend.

Thank you! I think that was my favorite look, too. I love kimonos. I accidentally tucked in my shirt yesterday and left it that way. Crazy!!
Lana
Haha – my dress code is pajamas! You look lovely in your work wear – the paisley blouse is my favorite!

The second look is my ABSOLUTE fave! Love the kimono and those colored pants you paired it with! You sound excited to be subbing and so close! My SIL could walk to the school she teaches at, too! And, you crack me up with your comments sometimes- like you could be the Easter bunny! lol!

You know, that kimono outfit was my fav. It is really the most like me. Love wearing kimonos. They are so easily feminine. I am moving again t another school to sub and will be back to driving across the city. Should have walked to school while I could!

Loved seeing all of your librarian looks. The little leg up is the cutest, along with that cute kimono you’re wearing.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Thank you, Sarah. That kimono outfit felt like me!

Your comment about your feet looking huge cracked me up! Its why i can’t wear Chucks…..they make my feet look huge! i bought one pair and only wore them a couple times. Worst $50 i spent in my life. Adidas has a new sneaker out i absolutely love…they are petite and actually make my feet look smaller. LOVE all your outfits. Especially the kimono one. I never thought of wearing a kimono with dressier clothes.
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ok, I definitely need an intervention and will check out the Adidas sneakers you speak of! No more Easter bunny feet for me. Thank you for your sweet words. I enjoyed dressing up for work this past week now that spring has sprung.
Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
You are rocking all those pretty scarves!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Why thank you, kind friend. I first wore scarves to cover the scars on my neck but now I love them!!

You look so good in blue! It must be because of your eyes! I love all the outfits but the stewardess one is my fave I think!
Leslie Roberts Clingan
Ha! The stewardess one… glad I am not the only gal who knows that word, ‘stewardess’. I need to wear it more. Thank you, love!
